dark_exodus -> World Cinema Recommendations? (14/4/2012 9:59:49 PM)

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I've watched any foreign movies. Can people recommend some? Movies released in the last few years would be great. I'm open to any genre and region.

Try:

Let the Right One In (horror... sort of)

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo / Played with Fire / Hornet's Nest (thrillers)

Troll Hunter (comedy)

All scandinavian, all great (IMO).

Headhunters, which is still in the cinemas (well, if you can find it), is also good.

Also Point Blank (French action/comedy).

Call thanks for the recommendations.

I've seen Let the Right One In, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Troll Hunter.

I'll check out the rest.

My first post! I'll jump right in and recommend:

1. Ponyo (2008) - Adorable Japanese animated version of The Little Mermaid
2. Raise the Red Lantern (1991) - Chinese film about the dark side of polygamy, told by a rich man's 4th wife
3. The Dreamlife of Angels (1998) - French film about 2 French 20-something women who find an abandoned house
4. Volver (2006) - My favourite Almadovar film, starring Penelope Cruz as a working class single mother who suddenly starts seeing the 'ghost' of her mother

As a start anyhow...
