Take a breath and relax? Seriously, how does he think that's going to help change anyone's mind? We haven't read the script? So fucking what? THE TURTLES AREN'T ALIENS! There is NO REASON to make them aliens, all you need to do is read the new TMNT ongoing comic to see their original origin still works.

Even without changing the origin there's a good chance Michael bay would have ruined this anyway. The 'ruining our childhood' argument is a popular one, but these things are sacred to us. My sister liked my little pony, look forward to Michael bay turning them into grizzly bears.

There appears to be zero reason for turning them into aliens and numerous reasons not to, number one being the fans. If the choice is a Michael bay turtles or no turtles at all, then I'll choose no turtles at all please.

Hes right, people are really over reacting. After reading an article somewhere else its, the alien thing makes sense. He says hes working with the original writers, and in the original comics the goo that turned them into the mutant turtles was an alien goo from the Utroms, so it works. Theyre not aliens themselves, but come around because of aliens.

There is such a thing as artistic liscense, and comics have never gone hand in hand with continuity. I severly doubt that changing the origin will alter the plots of the TMNT stories of everyone's youth, but if you're convinced it'll ruin the turtles for you, DON'T GO SEE IT. This is a freedom of speech issue. And if people wern't allowed to mess about with old stories, the majority of the US would be praising Hercules. It's the wrong thing to be complaining about. Where were all the moaners when he used our beloved transformers to make 3 OF THE WORST FILMS OF ALL TIME?!

Michael Bay has learned how to handle cinema goers.

Look at Transformers.

Bay: "Don't worry, I loved Transformers as a kid, I want to make a movie that's true to the cartoons I loved, but with some amazing action and story!"

Fans: "Maybe he'll do a good job, let's go and see it."

Fans complain the movie is terrible but it makes a fuckton of profit.

Bay: "Yeah I made a few mistakes there but the second one will be better, there's more of our favourite characters and less humans, this one will be awesome!"

Fans: "It has to be better than the first one, and it has Devastator in this!"

Fans complain it's even worse than the first, but the film goes on to make even more money.

Bay: "I totally fucked up with the second one, I can't believe it, it was so shit. Don't worry the third one will be so much better!"

Fans: "Yeah well it better be!"

Worst yet, takes in the most amount of profit of almost any film ever before.

Bay: "Haha fuck you all!"

I'm going to wade in with my two peneth here...yes their is such a thing as artistic licence but their is being artistic with it and completely changing the story and it just won't work. Like most Bay movies, it just doesn't make sense to put them as aliens. The point of the turtes were that they were essentially teenagers raised in the US (albeit under it) who were outsiders. I can't see how thats going to work if he changes their origins. As with all Micheal 'smug bastard' Bay films, he has completely missed the fucking point!!

With regards to the last line of your post. I have tried to defend Transformers to the hilt, I try to treat all films like my ex-girlfirend, I try to see the good in them even when they are soul destroying pieces of shit that sap at my very IQ and will to live; BUT you just need to dig a little deeper on the Empire forums to see what people really think of the Bay Transformer films.

This is a man whose film making has all the subtlety of having a whole salmon marinaded in narcotics, then being slapped in the face with it. I think he is no better a directot than Uwe Bole...he just has more money to spend!!

This would be less controversial for me were it anyone but Bay, the mans movies are horrendous, almost as bad as Empire's questionable reviews of said one star movies!;-P The one certainty here is that the casting of April will be a popular choice with men everywhere. The fact that even any 3 year old whose seen "Finding Nemo" knows that Turtles live in the ocean and not SPACE Leads me to believe perhaps Uwe Boll would be a better choice at this stage. That's right, Boll!!

Firstly, audiences will eat up whatever Bay does because they love his work. Critics be damned. This is exactly what happened when he reinvented Transformers. Secondly, it's probably just the ooze which is alien ... like the symbiote in Spider-Man 3. Earth turtles plus alien ooze equals mutated half-alien turtles. It's not, by any means, rocket science. It's movie science.

I loved Turtles as a kid. I've actually got the original cartoon and film on DVD and my niece and nephew love to watch them. Turtles from space though? Get lost Bay and go make another CGI-fest Transformers movie for the kids to waste their money on.

I'm thinking Bay and Lucas should team up. They could form a new studio that specialises in utterly destroying beloved childhood franchises while making a shedload of cash. Anyway, the Turtles movie will now have a million tons of military hardware, at least 5 vapid teen actors, tired toilet humour and lingering shots of the main lead females ahem, 'attributes'- oh an some CGI turtles who somehow conform to racial stereotypes despite being green and non human.

There's a fad going on that you can't like Michael Bay. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon. (Just like kings of leon after sex on fire even though they produced three amazing albums beforehand) Yes the transformer sequels where shit but bay gave what the people wanted. You can't say after the success of the first one that no one wanted a sequel.
If you like awesome actions films Michael bay is a solid choice. Who can be into action films and not like bad boys 1&2 , the rock and even the island was a decent film.

Ive got a problem with people claiming their childhood memories are being destroyed, if a cartoon about ninja turtles is such a cherished childhood memory that it needs to be preserved then you need to sit down and have a chat with someone.
