Iron Man

I think the pre-order of Avengers Assemble spurred this on.

I thought this would suck, but pretty enjoyable sci fi flick.

Had not seen it in ages but it still holds up well with a great performance from Peter O' Toole.

4/5

Sucker Punch

I saw this for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. It was just something a bit different and certainly not your usual predictable movie.

Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness

Went on a bit of a Raimi and Campbell session today. I love the humour in these classics. I'd have to say that Army of Darkness is disappointing in a way. However, I don't resent it's existence. :p

Austin Powers

Not my favourite of the three. Whatever happened to Liz Hurley?

Disappointed with the lack of special features on here. Why is there two scene selections on here?!

Did you watch all of them or just selected parts?

Spectator of Suicide -> RE: What was the last Blu Ray or DVD you watched ? (25/6/2012 12:32:33 AM)

I just hit "Play Movie". There's "Jump to a Nightmare" and "Scene Selection", Basically the same thing, There isn't even any deleted scenes or anything on the discs. I'm currently on Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

Kubrickrube -> RE: What was the last Blu Ray or DVD you watched ? (25/6/2012 9:35:54 PM)

Too be honest, I didn't really check the extras when I bought that boxset. I only paid 10 for it so I wasn't expecting much.

Kubrickrube -> RE: What was the last Blu Ray or DVD you watched ? (26/6/2012 6:37:25 PM)

Austin Powers 2 & Goldmember

I guess they do the job.

Kubrickrube -> RE: What was the last Blu Ray or DVD you watched ? (28/6/2012 5:39:55 PM)

Anchorman

The first time I've seen this. This is due to the fact, two people I detest rate it as their favourite movie ever. Needless to say, it wasn't my favourite movie ever and I found it to be for the most part, over-rated. Some of the jokes worked but I think there were more 'misses' than 'hits'. Great to see Will Ferrell recycling the same character traits as usal.

The Woman In Black

This was an ok movie but nothing on the book. It's alwayss hard not tho think "Harry Potter" whenver you see Mr Radcliffe. And to suggest that his character had a child? Not very believable.

In this day and age a 22 year old seems a bit old to have a young son.

It does when his voice doesn't even sound like it's broke and it's completely not how the novel was.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil

I liked this. It's a simple idea (and stupid) but it definitely doesn't neeed a sequel. Perfectly easy watching though. 3/5

Casablanca

Classic. I can't really say anything bad about this. 5/5

watched The Thing (1982) on Blu Ray.

The Muppets

I'm a big Muppets fan but this was great. Seriously, it works for kids and adults. It works on so many levels. It's definitely the best Muppets movie and harks back to the good ol' times. Not that I was present for all of them. 4/5

Texas Killing Fields

It started off well. It then decided to get messy and never really tidied itself back up. I wouldn't say there was anythijng wrong the acting or the direction. However, the script just didn't seem to work. It just seemed sloppy in places. 2.5/5

Enter The Dragon

Obviously, its a classic. No-one watches the movie for the acting. However, this is probably the most talented (acting wise) cast that Lee ever worked with. The fight scenes are great and it's still hard to believe just how quick Lee really was. 4/5

Kubrickrube -> RE: What was the last Blu Ray or DVD you watched ? (8/7/2012 1:53:48 AM)

Dream House

I looked at the cast for this movie and thought "It should be alright". Too be honest, I hadn't read a lot into the script so I was unaware of the content. This scould be a good or a bad thing.

The movie tries to have a few interesting twists in it but the story is so poorly laid out. If you can accept the plot twists, you'll still be infuriated with how they're delivered. The movie seems to drag in places where the time could have been used far more productively elsewhere to develop character. Watts was severely underused and I found that I didn't actually care about any of the characters. The ending makes absolutely no sense at all.

I wonder why people waste their time creating finished products like this. It felt on reflection that I'd spent most of the movie watching Craig take off the same piece of headwear over and over. 2/5
