[:D] its true.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 3:01:45 AM)

[:D] How many times have you won again? You must be on 2 or 3.

Rhubarb -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 3:09:08 AM)

Scott 4, Strangeways and Hounds of Love. Not win since Hof 9 though, so been off form.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 3:52:33 AM)

Do you ever taunt TRM by pointing out that you have 4 wins and he only has 2? He doesn't like it when I do it. [:D]

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (11/6/2012 12:59:56 AM)

Just realised the deadline's been passed. If anyone's been reading along, could they get their votes in ASAP please? Of people I know about, MovieAddict's got an extension, and I think Elab was going to vote too? Anyone else who's been silently reading along, as long as you've read all the books you can still vote!

Anyway, public vote at midnightish:
All Quiet-0
The Crucible-4 (44%)
Dubliners-1 (11%)
Doctor Moreau-1 (11%)
Ubik-2 (22%)
The Weir-1 (11%)

Vote sent [:)]

Got 'em, thanks Elab!

Rebenectomy -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (6/7/2012 11:43:29 PM)

Just thought I'd bump. Has the new deadline passed?

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (6/7/2012 11:48:02 PM)

I think we're waiting on MA to send her votes through.

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (6/7/2012 11:52:44 PM)

We are indeed, s/he's told me they'll be sent soon. Everyone else's are in.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (7/7/2012 12:04:49 AM)

Will her votes have an effect? Because if the split between the current 3 & 4 is so big that even a top place vote from MA wouldn't affect the result, we can move on to round 2 without them and just take her votes from the second round on.

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (7/7/2012 12:22:02 AM)

As it stands, the difference between 3rd and 4th is only 4 points. Even the film currently bottom is only 7 points from 3rd place, it's pretty close at the moment.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (7/7/2012 2:46:50 AM)

Exciting times. [:D] I'll drop MA a pm in case she misses the thread.

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (7/7/2012 8:41:14 AM)

Sorry for the delay, guys - I read half of them in the first month or so, then completely failed with the others.

I've set myself a deadline of Sunday evening, so I'll be done by then. I'm intrigued about the results of this one.

Is this a clue [sm=33.gif]

Nope, it's a mistake.

elab49 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (7/7/2012 11:28:40 AM)

Damn. Still, worth a shot [:D]

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/7/2012 8:07:28 PM)

Sorry guys, but I failed to stick to my self-imposed deadline of this weekend. Can I have another extension (just a week)?

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/7/2012 11:45:33 PM)

Yeah, another week won't hurt any. [:)]

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (13/7/2012 10:05:27 PM)

I am so sorry about all of this, but there's no way I'll be able to finish reading as I'm away for the next two weeks and am without a copy of Ubik (which sadly is the one I most wanted to read).

I did get halfway through the Dubliners, though.

If you want to, I can send you the votes for the ones I've read, but if you think it's fairer, you can discount my nomination/role altogether. Again, I'm really sorry, and I really enjoyed reading/re-reading the ones I did.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 1:45:33 AM)

I don't want to just make a decision on my own on this, it should be down to everyone taking part. One thing I would say is that we can't take votes based on just some of the books. So I see a couple of alternatives

1. We move on without MA's votes
2. We push the deadline back
3. We don't take MA's votes for this round, but if she's read everything that makes round 2, she can vote in that part.

Any other ideas I'm overlooking?

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 6:34:56 AM)

If it helps any, while there's decent competition for slots 2 and 3, the book out in front is so far out in front MA's votes wouldn't affect its placing. On that basis, we could always skip straight to announcing the winner and get another round going, since we're already a month past the original deadline.

That's just my two cents though, otherwise I reckon we move on to Round 2 ASAP.

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 7:58:25 AM)

PM Rebel.

So Ubik is fucked then? [:(]

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 8:17:07 AM)

Got and replied, cheers MA.

Rinc -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 9:21:48 AM)

I reckon we don't take MA's votes, move onto the final and do that in 2 days then move onto the next round.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 4:35:01 PM)

Maybe we should all just state our preference for how to move on throughout today and whatever has most votes by the end of day is how we proceed. Anyone who doesn't vote today just has to abide by the majority decision. I won't vote unless there's a tie, in which case I'll have the deciding vote.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 4:35:27 PM)

Oh, and Rebel's idea about going straight to the winner is an option.

elab49 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 5:05:23 PM)

If I'm included, I prefer Rinc's option, with the partial vote not being eligible as it's not fair to one of the entries. Although given what Rebel says, it might be that's a bit redundant [:)]

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (14/7/2012 5:16:29 PM)

I vote for my idea, though I'd be happy with a short second round.
