Sadly not (though if it had been I might have burned down the pub, just to make sure) I can't drink the black stuff.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (10/4/2012 6:45:55 PM)

Just like you to have a figary and only drink the fucking bottles from now on.

I'm just going to quote the play for my own amusement. [:D]

I liked a lot of the general chatter/banter…

“That’s the way cunts always go about their business. It’s intrusive, it’s bad manners, it’s…”

“…it’s bad manners,” This made me chuckle for some reason. [:D]

“Ah I don’t know where the fuck they’re from.” Nice little payoff I thought.

"The Luigi board" still cracks me up.

I could hear Jack saying it in a very mock serious voice and I've no doubt it's how I’ll say Ouija from now on. [:D]

You need to hear the radio version with Jim Norton & Brendan Coyle. If nothing else to cleanse the mind of Downton Abbey.

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (5/5/2012 7:25:39 PM)

Bumping this because I'm not sure if it's been forgotten about or not. There's about a month left till the deadline.

impqueen -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (5/5/2012 9:35:42 PM)

Where do I send my votes? [:)]

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (5/5/2012 9:40:23 PM)

I offered to count in the sign up thread, and Rawls took me up on it, so assuming that's still OK just drop me a PM.

Rinc -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 5:05:48 PM)

I'm about to finish All Quiet on the Western Front then just need to read The Weir.

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 6:39:07 PM)

A month - phew, I've still got two to go (which is where I was a month ago...).

impqueen -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 6:45:59 PM)

Which two?

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 10:44:31 PM)

Got your votes Imp, cheers.

By the way, I'm not sure if anyone said they'd be reading along and voting despite not having a book up. If anyone has been/plans a moth-long book binge, the offer's still open [:)].

Rebenectomy -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 11:20:19 PM)

I'll not be getting my votes in until very near the deadline, had to wait a wee while for a couple on amazon.

elab49 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (8/5/2012 11:42:21 PM)

I am one chapter into Dubliners. If I get through the rest that'll be me. [:)]

The Dubliners and Ubik - two I haven't read before.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (9/5/2012 8:23:53 AM)

I'm done, I just can't decide on the order just yet.

Dubliners is on Google books in full, and since it's a short story compendium it's easy to dip in and out of.

Rinc -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (26/5/2012 10:33:46 AM)

I sent my votes by the way.

elab49 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (26/5/2012 10:38:24 AM)

One more Dubliners story to go when I get rid of the guests tomorrow and I should be able to send in my votes after I've cogitated.

And I got 'em, thanks!

Votes sent.

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (27/5/2012 3:32:10 PM)

Mine too.

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (27/5/2012 3:35:13 PM)

Got 'em both, cheers guys!

MovieAddict247 -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (27/5/2012 9:48:05 PM)

Argh! I'm so sorry to be a pain, but can I ask for an extension? I've got exams coming up (and by that I mean they start tomorrow), and I don't finish until the 11th. After that I'll get them read by the end of June.

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 12:54:46 AM)

Rawls is in charge, so ultimately the decision rests with him, but I see no reason why an extra week or two should be a problem.

Actually, did anyone decide how many rounds of this we're having? Are we having a final three or skipping straight to the winner?

rawlinson -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 1:01:55 AM)

Sorry, didn't notice this before, yeah that's fine. This first one was always going to be an experiment when it came to deadlines, etc. As for number of rounds, I'm happy enough to have a second round if everyone else wants it. Anyone with strong feelings one way or the other?

Rebel scum -> RE: Literature Hall of Fame One: Round One (29/5/2012 1:37:20 AM)

A brief second round of three works for the Audio HoF, though I don't mind jumping to the winner either.

I'm not sure anything really works about Audio HoF, I've won it three times, that's a fucked up system right there. [:D]
