Heath Ledger never liked the merchandise that Hollywood does and inputs in the actors, in the movies and in the art. His career started with a a romantic pisture that he didn't wanted to follow (10 things i hate bout you). He tried to choose better roles for him he tried to fight the Hollywood machine maybe like many others, he just couldn't stand it. What about you do you let yourself go by this giant or you just say Fuck you, I'm gonna watch this shit anymore?

He didn't like Hollywood but he didn't seem to have a problem taking their paychecks?

but there are not many who refuse roles just because they are not the path he or she wants to follow. Only a really hard working actor does that. Heath was one of does... but there are more.

by the way whose the first person who comes to your mind? mine was heath who is yours?

Heath Ledger fought the "black hollywood machine"?????

Yeah, thats why he made art house flicks like 10 things I hate about you, A Knights Tale, and The Dark Knight. He probably HATED the millions of dollars thrown at him.

What happened to him was tragic, but he wasn't the first and won't be the last. And don't think that because he died before his time that he was better than he was or had grander plans. He was good, but lets not start deifying, eh?...

filipe -> RE: Hollywood The Big Black Machine (10/3/2012 9:51:21 PM)

look just because the dark knight is a big budget movie doesn't mean it's a shouldn't be done movie. When i say he fought it I just say that cause he refused some roles Hollywood wanted him to make some roles like the one in 10 things about you... And by the way he just did that movie cause he was starting.

Again the dark knight was one of the best adapted to the big screen comic book movies ever made, and i'm sure i'm not alone in this matter. One of the things that contributed to that succes was heath ledger's perfomance. He them well desrved that oscar, in my opinion.

I presume what filipe is talking about is the machinery surrounding the art. Ledger wasn't the first and won't be the last to dislike it. But most realise you don't get to do one without putting up with the other.

If you are saying Heath was one of those actors that wouldnt sell himself out to make any shite film (Eddie Murphy, for example) I suppose you have a point. But he did bend over and take it up the bum when he was in Brokeback Mountain *badum- tshh*
