Dr Science -> No love for The Guard? (5/3/2012 12:11:40 PM)

didn't anyone else see it? It was definitely worthy of a Best Comedy nom, and I would have given Gleeson a nod as best actor too - great performance - definitely better than Radcliffe

Ash_G -> Warrior (5/3/2012 12:18:48 PM)

Just goes to show that nobody watched Warrior. Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte should have had nominations as well as the movie itself in my opinion. Watch it people!

Ash_G -> (5/3/2012 12:20:29 PM)

And how the fuck is daniel radcliffe up for best actor?! are you kidding me?!

danclay77 -> Warrior (5/3/2012 12:32:58 PM)

I agree with Ash - Warrior is fantastic - 5/5 easy and with Dr Science about The Guard but they can't all win. At least Drive and Olivia Colman should get some lurve now!

guysalisbury -> Drive & Warrior (5/3/2012 12:59:16 PM)

The best films of last year in my opinion! Glad to see loads for Drive but a bit gutted to see sod all for Warrior. Glad to see Crazy Stupid Love and Attack the Block getting loads of love! Fuck the Oscars, its all about the Empire Awards :-)

loretta27 -> (5/3/2012 2:32:48 PM)

I guess Michael Fassbender is too good at blending into the background {sob} :'(

Spaldron -> RE: Drive for the win (5/3/2012 3:46:16 PM)

No doubt the Potter fanboys have had something to do with HP7.2 receiving so many noms, hopefully common sense will prevail and Drive gets the big awards. ROTPOTA should get best sci-fi, TTSS for best thriller.

jkoopa -> Carnage (5/3/2012 4:30:25 PM)

Would have loved to have seen Carnage nominated for something, one of the best films I've ever seen, loved it so much

balmerm -> DAVID FINCHER (5/3/2012 5:12:20 PM)

Where on earth is David Fincher for director. The thing that stands out in that film is the direction, not the performances particularly.

jdfxxx -> Kill List (5/3/2012 5:26:21 PM)

So how did Kill List NOT get a nomination for best British Film??

Whistler -> (5/3/2012 5:36:09 PM)

Is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy really a thriller? Because if so it's the most un-thrilling thriller I've ever seen. That's not to say it's not good, however.

Jamie_M -> Bonnie Wright ,,,,,,,REALLY???? (5/3/2012 7:30:21 PM)

Bonnie Wright for best female newcomer, WTF,,,, That girls acting is as wooden as Harry Potters wand!!

Dr Yakubu -> Best Award nominations going (5/3/2012 10:07:39 PM)

As always a really strong list of nominations, forget aboot it Oscars!!

abssims -> very disappointing/// (5/3/2012 10:20:48 PM)

Daniel Radcliffe makes the grade but no Michael Fassbender ? Attack the Block but no Shame.........good to see Olivia Colman get a nod though....

Pan_Box -> Nothing for The Artist (6/3/2012 2:27:52 AM)

How come the critically acclaimed "The Artist" gets zero nominations, that's ridiculous!!!
And why is Harry Potter all over the places!!
Who picked the noms? Fifteen year's old dudes?!

Stevie_G -> Where is Senna? (6/3/2012 10:04:46 AM)

At least a nomination for best British film surely?

Whistler -> RE: Nothing for The Artist (6/3/2012 10:26:59 AM)

Ostensibly it it ridiculous, but these awards are sort of to award those films that were overlooked during the festival season (especially at the Oscars), hence why Drive has a bunch of nominations, and should win.

MovieMogul -> The nominations... (6/3/2012 10:36:57 AM)

Were chosen by the readers. A while back, you typed in who you wanted to win, hence the nominations now. Personally, I could have done without the 3D award, but it's a good mix. But where are the screenplay and score awards?!

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: The nominations... (6/3/2012 12:11:27 PM)

Good lists/nominations,though I would have liked to see Paddy Considine in the best Directors catergory but its a very strong list nonetheless.

ebrown2112 -> Where is Scorsese? (6/3/2012 2:08:06 PM)

Scorsese NOT nominated for Best Director? And we're supposed to take this seriously?

Wild about Wilder -> RE: Where is Scorsese? (6/3/2012 3:40:19 PM)

So obviously NEDS must've just been outside the qualifying date otherwise surely it would've been up for Best Male Newcomer & British Film then? Also no mention of Joel Courtney for Male Newcomer?

Pan_Box -> Re: Re: Nothing for "The Artist" (6/3/2012 5:33:37 PM)

I'd get that if it was like the ceremony of the oscars snubbed, but since there is contenders here that were nominated at the oscars, it doesn't make that much sense. Either you go all the way and nominate exclusively people snubbed from the oscars or you don't, but not half way.

Then why not go all the way and only include people snubbed from the oscars...or you don't and then, no reason for "The Artist" not to appear in the list.

Whistler -> RE: Re: Re: Nothing for "The Artist" (6/3/2012 9:12:04 PM)

Well it's not officially the "Snubbed By The Oscars Awards", it just sort of pans out that way. And as MovieMogul said, they were voted for by the public several months ago, before most people had seen The Artist.

Wild about Wilder -> RE: Re: Re: Nothing for "The Artist" (7/3/2012 12:41:32 PM)

I'm sorry if you're putting Hiddleston down for Newcomer how come none of The Inbetweener actors? & how exactly does Attack The Block get nominated for Best Horror ( Not even going to mention Best British?[sm=23.gif]) & then included over Red State.
