criffle -> This is just awful (28/2/2012 8:45:33 AM)

Utterly awful. The American's just couldn't leave a fantastic British series alone could they?

Trubie -> Really!! (28/2/2012 9:33:13 AM)

Just leave it alone...please... we beg you...step away...

femalebodyinspector -> EH! (28/2/2012 9:45:25 AM)

1) Why?
2) Whats wrong with the truly awesome BBC Sherlock?
3) Johnny Lee Miller!?!?!? Really!
4) Again....why the fuck are they bothering?
5) Can't they just piss off and reboot the Equaliser?!

artilleryman -> ffs (28/2/2012 9:49:17 AM)

Lucy Lui?? Jesus, they just can't cope with the two males angle of the Sherlock Holmes mythos can't they. The Beeb's Sherlock will piss all over this. Hope it doesn't get past the pilot.

spark1 -> (28/2/2012 10:31:36 AM)

similar to 1970's 'there might be giants'?

Kavandclay -> NOOOO (28/2/2012 11:55:25 AM)

Sounds like the typical American formula of Guy/Girl police dramas as seen in Life, Castle and Bones (all one-word titles too). Hope it doesn't get picked up as Lucy Lui is really good in Southland, playing a completely unglamourous role.

spark1 -> The Woman (28/2/2012 12:22:46 PM)

funny i would have picked to be a possible irene adler but she might make a female watson work too.

HighwayJoe -> The Maleable Watson (28/2/2012 2:10:02 PM)

I saw, why not? Watson has been everything from a chipmunk [Theodore to Simon's Holmes] to a cyborg, Black [Geordie to Data's Holmes], Jude Law, and now a modern day Londoner over at BBC. So why not a female Watson? The character obviously lends itself much better than Holmes to re-interpretation--witness how not even the folk at CBS could make Holmes an American--and a Joan Watson [and Asian to boot, which means she'll likely literally kick ass at some point] is one of the few re-imaginings we haven't seen yet. Being realistic, this will probably flop, but I think it's just good fun. My two gripes here are bringing Holmes to the US [why not just post Watson in London?] and Holmes being... Johnny Lee Miller? As in Maclean Johnny Lee Miller? Hnh. So it's more Downey Jr than Benedict, then?

musht -> RE: The Maleable Watson (28/2/2012 3:01:46 PM)

The only problem I see with this casting is that they might try and ignite a romantic flame between Holmes and Watson which wouldn't work at all.

I have to say, I am curious as to how this might work out. Whereas Sherlock was a fairly direct modernisation, this seems to be shaping up to be a pretty interesting interpretation what with Holmes just out of rehab I get the feeling this may not be as family friendly as Sherlock

potemkin1925 -> A terrible idea with an awful cast (28/2/2012 4:43:14 PM)

So it will probably run for 6 or seven years

spark1 -> Ally Mcbeal (29/2/2012 10:07:43 AM)

if lucy plays watson as she did in that show then i'll watch

crazycatlady -> pointless (29/2/2012 1:35:23 PM)

I like Lucy Lui and I'm not opposed to modernisation or reinterpretation so I probably wouldn't hate this show as long as they kept her Watson as a military surgeon. I think that Watson's service is intrinsic to the character.
Unfortunately from what I've read that won't be the case, so why bother calling it Sherlock Holmes and then changing everything about it apart from the character names?

King of Kafiristan -> RE: pointless (1/3/2012 5:24:54 AM)

I am surprised and disappointed to see Licy Liu still getting work all these years after Ally McBeal. She is not a talented actress by any stretch of the imagination, and while sure, she has been in a handful of successful films, I defy anyone to tell me that that she brought anything unique or special to those roles. Even O-ren (spelling) in KB is pretty much a cipher, and Liu's performance is broad and largely uninteresting. The character has a compelling history and story, but Liu fails to sell it on screen. She's not credible as a flesh and blood human being.

Speaking just for myself, of course
