So no chance Benedict Cumberbatch might play Hans Grubers son then. It's opportunity missed I tell ya! They'll probably just go for "rent a bad guy" Mark Strong.

OrganicLifeform -> (22/2/2012 9:25:45 PM)

I was hoping Aaron Paul would get the role :( Oh well...

leroythemasochist -> why bother? (22/2/2012 10:06:06 PM)

it won't be as good as the original movie so what's the point?
surely that should be the only reason to make a sequel - to extend the characters lives and back stories, to move the ideas forward and to be true to the spirit of the origins.
But NO... The REAL reason to make a sequel is....? Anyone? Anyone?
Yes, you, baldy guy at the back who's far too old for this sort of thing but you figure they'll just use a shit load of CGI so who cares anyhow.
That's right, to make more money.
Case closed.

I remember when Brucey used to make the occasional left field movie - mix it up a bit.
Those days are loooong gone.
Still, I bet you I watch it on bluray!

King of Kafiristan -> RE: why bother? (22/2/2012 10:56:17 PM)

His... son? Didn't he have a daughter last time? I can't say I'm much interested in this. Willis has been on auto pilot for a long, long time.. and THE ADVENTURES OF MCCLAIN AND SON are not what I'm looking for in a DIE HARD movie.

neillbert90 -> (23/2/2012 1:20:47 AM)

This could work, aslong as they don't actually work out their issues. And the action is grounded. That's what made the first 3 brilliant, and the 4th one a good film (but a crap Die Hard).

BenTramer -> Die Hard 5: Viagra Harder (23/2/2012 9:31:52 AM)

Having McClane got to Moscow to take on gangsters sounds bloody stupid. Why would he go there, for God's sake? It's just a depserate attempt to come up with a new story for the cash. Although Skip Woods wrote Swordfish which was a good action film (he also wrote The A-Team, which, er, wasn't).

Toursiveu -> Why always introduce the whole family? (23/2/2012 1:58:32 PM)

It's so boring that these sequels always introduce all the hero's family members, like in Indiana Jones. We had the dad, then the son and the wife... The dog and grandma in episode 5? Who cares about McLane's son? We just want McLane!

Also, there was a time when the Die Hard franchise relied on great directors (John McTiernan is a genius!) Now they've got the man who made the average Behind Enemy Lines, the weak Flight of the Phoenix, the remake of The Omen and the terrible terrible terrible Max Payne????

Couldn't they call McTiernan? He's out of jail now, you know...

bnicholson50 -> Police Academy (23/2/2012 5:06:05 PM)

Die Hard franchise is the new police academy and McClane is now getting his very own "Mission to Moscow".

Yeah, but he had a son, too, in the original.

They'll probably have him escorting a prisoner back to Russia plot whilst his son is there studying or some convoluted cap similar.

the concept of mcclane in Russia Ian stupid though.
