In the first of what will be - hopefully - many special events to mark the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is presenting its new Directors' Panel series for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next month.

The panel will feature famed directors John Glen (For Your Eyes Only, Octo*****, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, Licence To Kill), Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, Casino Royale) and Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough), as they take a look back at the acclaimed franchise and how technology has influenced their work.

The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show and 20th's Directors' Panel will be held on Tuesday, January

I waited so long for this [:D]

Timon -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (11/1/2012 11:45:25 AM)

Thanks Sony Entertainment Media guy!

However personally I'm happy with the Ultimate Editions that I own. It means I'm not forced to possess Die Another Day and Diamonds Are Forever.

That made me laugh.

I might be tempted to pick it up if the price drops like most blu-ray boxsets have done lately. If not surely Goldeneye will get a separate release I will pick that up for sure. I have been waiting ages for it, its one on my favourite Bond films.

spark1 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (11/1/2012 1:23:11 PM)

would love to get seperate 007 blu rays such TLD, GE and OHMSS.
but will the new extras tempt me to get boxset?

adambatman82 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (11/1/2012 5:03:36 PM)

I'm impressed by the price of the set, at just 89 for 22 films its a bit of a bargain, alas I'm not much of a fan of the films unfortunately.

Spaldron -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (11/1/2012 6:52:33 PM)

So is this technically a spam thread or isn't it?

UTB -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (12/1/2012 12:18:01 PM)

Sweet! Released just in time to be out of date when Skyfall comes out on Blu Ray!

I think they'd have been better drawing a line under the Brosnan films for this box set. Treat the Craig flicks as something separate when celebrating the films legacy. At least then they would have a definitive end-point for creating "Definitive" box sets.

Sad Professor -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (12/1/2012 7:13:48 PM)

What Bond films are currently available on Blu-ray does anyone know? I saw Dr. No, Russia and Goldfinger in HMV today. Are the other Connery ones on blu?

I'd like to get Goldeneye on blu-ray and maybe the above. Already have the others on DVD which suits me fine

efc91 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (12/1/2012 8:30:41 PM)

There is one other Sean Connery film available which is Thunderball.

Over here in Australia (I don't know about the UK) the Bond Blu-Ray releases are:

Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
Live and Let Die
The Man with the Golden Gun
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Licence to Kill
The World is Not Enough
Die Another Day
Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace

For the life of me, I don't know why they can't just put every release on Blu; they'd make a bundle. I'd love to get OHMSS, The Spy Who Loved Me and Octopussy on Blu.

MGM had massive financial problems a couple of years ago after they started putting these out. Hence the delay with Bond 23.

I don't know about y'all, but Octo***** is my favourite Bond film.

EVAR!

JIm R -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (14/1/2012 8:50:28 AM)

Just the OCD perfectionist in me but why haven't they put the Bonds on the packaging in order of appearance from left to right.

Spectre -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (14/1/2012 10:02:44 AM)

That annoyed me too. [:D]

vader100 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (14/1/2012 1:04:12 PM)

Knew this was coming at some stage so held off from buying the separate releases. Great price too!

spark1 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (17/1/2012 1:30:43 PM)

the extras for the SE were great- the 'inside....' docs, profiles of cubby, harry, ken adam, the stunt and fx guys-

the UEs were tarted up with DTS and the lowery process but added little exceptional new extras.

hope we get an update of 'men behind the mayhem', a profile of barbara/michael g and brosnan commentaries on the films other than DAD.

Spectre -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (19/1/2012 9:25:23 PM)

I've just pre-ordered it. As others have said, it's a good price for 22 films.

spark1 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (20/1/2012 11:35:20 AM)

better to wait-

have seen the price drop on recent blu ray box sets?

Spectre -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (20/1/2012 6:14:15 PM)

Yes, but it works out at 4 a film, which is still as good as, if not better than discounted box sets available now. The price is more likely to rise before release than go down.

it may not sell at the r r p but it will go down in price following its release after a few months.
better to wait.

Spaldron -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (23/1/2012 2:02:47 PM)

I still haven't got through half the extras on my Bond UE boxset. I mean 41 discs man, don't think I'll have any need to get the blu anytime soon.

You could say that about pretty much anything.

spark1 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (24/1/2012 11:51:42 AM)

if you got 90 to spend then fine but some would love to get blu rays at a bargain especially with the price tags for some discs/boxsets at present.

spark1 -> RE: 50 Years of James Bond! Pre-order (30/1/2012 3:02:41 PM)

wonder if they'll put them out as the connery/moore/brosnan/craig years as they did with the UE?
