Anyone know the street date for Issue 2?

Not a clue mate. Been checking out all the Newsagents in my locality for the past day or two hoping to see if its out! I've not read Dark Phoenix yet, so i cannot wait! [:D]

Vadersville -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (9/1/2012 10:45:48 PM)

I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait til Issue 3 is on the streets until I get my subscribed Issue 2, as it says they ship two issues together and I can't see them letting us have it early....

ChickMagnet -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (9/1/2012 11:04:30 PM)

My big worry is that I'm going to miss an issue this early. I had a look in our local Smiths today, they didn't have either issue in but they're known for getting 1 issue in then relying on people setting up a standing order with them, I really want Dark Phoenix and get the feeling that I'm going to have to subscribe to get it and I don't like waiting!

I went into my local comic shop on Saturday (07/01) and it was already on sale - try a specialist shop if you can't see it in a newsagents

Dark Knight -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 9:58:15 AM)

Been trying loads of local newsagents and I have had no luck - to the extent that some will not even entertain the idea of keeping a partwork.

Anyways, I have a Forbidden Planet in Wolverhampton just a few miles away and they have agreed to take up the subscription. Just off to fetch myself Dark Phoenix.

Cheers for the heads up about it already being out Chojin - Forbidden Planet just told me that they have had issue 2 in for a few days now themselves.

Vadersville -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 10:06:21 AM)

You should try the main W H Smith in Cardiff Central. They have a whole shelving display full of Issue 1 and have apparently only shifted a couple. Really surprising considering I've heard from friends and read posts on here about people having difficulty finding a copy.

Wild about Wilder -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 10:10:24 AM)

Judging by the favorable reaction this seems to be getting i'm really surprised DC with their back catalogue have never looked into doing something like this?
Oh well maybe this'll give them a wake up call to do just that.

Vadersville -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 10:13:00 AM)

That would be awesome! But then again I'd probably end up just getting duplicates of books I already own. My collection of Marvel is in comparision to DC non existent so that makes this a little more appealing.

This! I have always been a huge Batman fan but I have, to my shame, never really bothered about reading any Marvel. This will give me the perfect chance to read some quality (hopefully) stories at what seems to be a half decent price.

Absolutley THIS! I've only just gotten round to delving into Spider-Man Coming Home (decided to take a break from the numerous trades I got for Christmas) and I'm really enjoying it. I used to read a few of my mate's Spider-Man issues when we were growing up now and then, but never really saw a story through to the end. I can't wait to read Dark Phoneix. Oddly I know loads about the story yet have never actually read it myself. The same can be said for most of Marvel actually, most of my knowledge comes from mates rather than reading it myself first hand. This and the fact I got Marvel: A Visual History for Christmas should hopefully change that. [:D]

Jaded_Parrot -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 4:14:49 PM)

Got the first issue, loved it. Mrs has picked up the 2nd issue so ill get to read that soon which im looking forward too. Shes subscribed as well so we shall see how we get in with deliveries and all that jazz and see how the price changes if it does.

petecriss8000 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 4:17:49 PM)

I'm of two minds about issue two. Thing is that Marvel's released a newer version of Dark Phoenix a few years back in hardcover with remastered art and quite a few extra bits from other issues and that. Apparently the binding wasn't great on that but it's coming out in paperback in a couple months and I think I'd rather have that, as it'll match the rest of my other Marvel books and have more material in it, but Coming Home surprised me with how nice the presentation was. I just wish it didn't have that ugly cover and spine, otherwise I'd not hesitate. I don't see myself completing this collection anyway as it's overpriced as it is and I doubt they'll be releasing anything that's not already collected. Still, I know I'll see that 7 book sitting in Smith's and question my abstinence.

petecriss8000 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 6:38:44 PM)

Pfft.

Within thirty minutes of typing that I'd bought the fucker.[:@]

[:D] ha ha!

I myself managed to snare the last copy from my local newsagents!

[image][/image]

As you can see, i've yet to unwrap it! Its fresh off the press! God i cannot wait to get stuck in! I was getting worried that i may never be able to get a copy but 'never give up - never surrender'!! [:D]

petecriss8000 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 7:21:47 PM)

I think today must be the release date as yesterday WH Smith had two of issue 1, and today they (and Asda) had piles and piles of Dark Phoenix. I see number 5 is going to be some Peter David Hulk, excited about that.

Vadersville -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 11:11:05 PM)

Really? On their site they've got Spider-Man: Birth of Venom and Thor Reborn listed as Issues 5 and 6...

petecriss8000 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 11:13:27 PM)

Aren't those 4 and 5, with Iron Man: Extremis as 3?

Vadersville -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 11:16:02 PM)

Nope The Ultimates is listed as Issue 4...

petecriss8000 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (11/1/2012 11:16:07 PM)

The website boasts 'the best material from the last 30 years of Marvel'.

No 60s or 70s stuff then? Not giving the young, potential fanbase to make their minds up about that sort of material, methinks.

Chojin -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (12/1/2012 7:21:07 AM)

Were there any further volumes announced at the end of issue 2 as there were at the end of the first issue?

As I imagine subscribers will have a bit of a wait until we get any future issues[&:]

elab49 -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (12/1/2012 12:39:10 PM)

I just picked up the Dark Phoenix as I haven't read it in years and the chap in the newsagents was saying that they'd tried to get more No 1 in from the stockists but they were completely sold it. Seems to have been rather popular [:)]

Shifty Bench -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (12/1/2012 12:41:03 PM)

My mum managed to get Issue 1 for me from our local WH Smiths yesterday.

I doubt I'm going to get every issue, though.

Rebenectomy -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (12/1/2012 12:42:01 PM)

I got the first two and will be getting the rest set aside for me. Even at the top price it's still great value, and I like the idea of having comics for my son that he can't destroy just by looking at them.

benmharper -> RE: Marvel Graphic Novel Collection (12/1/2012 12:47:20 PM)

I picked up no2 yesterday. I was just gonna pick and choose which ones I wanted but I'm weak and have now subscribed. [:)]

Same here! I'm just going to pick and choose, because i very much doubt that all the issue's will be as enjoyable a read as issue 1 or 2.

i too would have subscribed for every issue, but i very much doubt i'll get to like every issue! My thinking is that out of 60 issues, maybe 30 or even 40 will be enjoyable read's, and worthy of any collection. But the rest will just be 'fillers'. Of course, i could be wrong! [:D]
