Watched Alma this morning and thought it was really, really good. The music is absolutely wonderful and it's really creepy - great choice.

Watched a few last night Alma - Nice wee sinister short, thought it looked great Klaus - As funny as I remember it, great music Blitz Wolf - Seen it before, still very funny Tales from the Suburbs - Interesting wee show, liked how it inverted a seemingly international problem (military presence akin to somewhere in the Middle East or even Belfast a few decades ago) to America. For the Birds - Jolly and classic. Duck Dodgers - Daffy and Marvin are always a favourite. Has anyone ever explained why he's dressed like a centurion and wearing trainers? Always amuses me.

Watched Menilmontant and thought it was rather boring. It starts so well too, which left me pretty disappointed. That opening scene is brilliant.

Klaus reminded me a little of the scary safety films over here, but not quite as good and just a bit lackadaisacal about it? Laid back doesn't seem quite the right term. Funniest thing about it was a youtube comment underneath saying they were actually shown this as a safety film during forklift training! Malice in Wonderland did nothing for me I'm afraid Alma - still feels very inconsquential and stiffs on any air of menace - like that Dr Who where they seemed to feel that the very presence of dolls was enough, but it wasn't. It is quite beautiful though. For the Birds - masterpiece of short form. Those little buggers deserve all they get and that moment of realisation is simply sublime. Alma - This made me sad. But it's very well done. It probably won't crack my top 6 though. It's a pretty strong round. Malice in Wonderland - Animated psychedelic porno at it's best. (Not a compliment, I was being snide.)

Finished. Should get the votes sent at some point in the next day or two. Night and Fog - I realised about 10mins into this that I'd watched it in school. It's powerful stuff. Menilmontant - It must have sucked to br a woman 80 odd years ago - be seduced/coerced into dropping your knickers and be rewarded with a bun in the oven on your first outing, like some sort of Catherine Cookson wet dream. Simply fantastic central performance though.

Forklift Driver Klaus - very, very funny and really enjoyed it. Malice in Wonderland - better than the Tim Burton one for starters. It's mental, but meh at the same time (I could describe that better).
