Loved QoS, don't understand how many cannot 'get' this film. It's structure is a 'slow build', even more so given DC's comments. There are 'key moments' which hold up to be heading in a direction to take us into the next stage. Personally I think's it all 'smokescreen' that Quantum are not involved in Skyfall, my feeling is 'at some level' they will be, whether it be a insider in MI6 (Fiennes) or Finney's character turning M against Bond.

They would be mad not to have a Quantum reference or connection so in next one we can have conclusion.

Im definatly in the pro 'QOS' camp, seen it twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times

The opera scene in particular is such a quintessential Bond scene, played to perfection by Daniel Craig. If it was Jason Bourne, he would have snuck in, tapped into some conversations, then ghosted out again with no one the wiser.
Bond however wants them to know that he's there, listening in.

JIm R -> RE: Strike-breaking? (12/12/2011 11:55:00 AM)

Is Mr Craig admitting to breaking the writers strike? Whilst he may have had the best of intentions, the writers were striking for what they felt was a valid reason, and by doing some of the writing himself, he weakened their protest.

However, Quantum was a less satisfying film the Royale. I've got my reservations about Medes' qualifications for directing action flicks (and Bond IS an action flick) but I'll try to keep an open mind.

The answer..... 2nd Unit Director

I don't quite understand this bit in the article by Owen Williams:

quote:

Skyfall
's apparent decision to put aside the Quantum plot thread running through that film and its predecessor Casino Royale, now makes more sense in the light of Craig's admitting "[Quantum of Solace] was never meant to be as much of a sequel as it was; it just ended up being one, starting where the last one finished. For me personally, on a level of feeling satisfied, I would want to do better next time. Thatís really important to me.

Quantum were clearly still a major part of the story, regardless of whether there were connections to the first film.

paulmitchell -> Mmmmm quantum not that bad (12/12/2011 8:27:57 PM)

As a bond film quantum did not work but as a no brainer action film,I loved all the stunts .i love Daniel Craig.his bond works,when he gets beaten up it shows.

Better than QoS? That won't be too hard.

Bond sitting in a chair for 2hrs doing a crossword would be better than QoS.

jazzyjules63 -> QOS proof (13/12/2011 8:59:05 AM)

I think the recent revelation that QOS was filmed with a half-arsed script proves that anyone who liked it should give up talking about films (let alone writing for a movie magazine). It felt like a nonsensical string of action sequences clumsily tacked together. The Greengrassesque unsteady cam filming was shit. It had the worse theme song, title sequence and cinematography. The best thing thing about it was its trailer which made the movie all the more disappointing. Two names fill me with confidence for Skyfall - Sam Mendes and Roger Deakins.

petethejakey -> Well... (15/12/2011 1:54:52 PM)

This very site/mag gave Quantum 4 stars.

"Disappointment" for the last one is designed to build hype for the next "better than Casino Royale" one. Remember Bruce Willis saying he liked Die Hard 4 more than 2 and 3?

Quantum of Solace wasn't the best ever but it ties up some loose ends of Casino Royale and established the Quantum organisation, etc. It's the only Bond film to be a proper 100% sequel and many critics enjoyed that fact.

Now, #3 has free reign to do whatever it wants. Happy days.
