Hudson, we see the ship launched and lost in Rise.

Private Hudson -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (8/1/2012 4:10:11 PM)

Did we? I watched it as well! I must be suffering from alcohol related memory loss!

Ghidorah -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (8/1/2012 4:57:43 PM)

It's in the background on the TV sets.

Private Hudson -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (8/1/2012 5:56:08 PM)

Doh!

Will scrutinise it when it comes on Sky.

Invader_Ace -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (8/1/2012 6:05:58 PM)

Although I agree with you: I am not too fussed to see the return of the astronaut just yet. Unless they can think of something radical . Different to the previous attempts.

Private Hudson -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (8/1/2012 8:01:04 PM)

I thought Rise was a brilliant film. I read the wikipedia entry there and one of the guys did mention they took inspiration from Conquest and also said that they were making a prequel to the 1968 original, which I like the idea of.

I don't think they should remake the original. The Tim Burton re imagining was a misfire, and as I have said the original POTA is a classic movie let alone sci-fi movie, so leave well alone.

But if they keep the intelligence of the Rise script they can create a whole new mythology if you like about Caesar, presumably the Lawgiver also (apart from John Huston in Battle we haven't seen him too much) they can run riot.

I do love Planet of the Apes!

Dirk Miggler -> RE: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (1/6/2012 7:30:03 AM)

Great news, I'm glad to see the project is really starting to move forward. Should we have concerns about the choice of scriptwriter though ?

I think they've got the titles the wrong way around. The first one was more the 'dawn'. If the next one has tha apes actually taking control, that's more the 'rise'.

Nah, I think this guy wrote Contagion and the script for that was pretty smart and tight.

Timon -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (26/9/2012 12:38:34 PM)

So with Rupert Wyatt stepping down as director, I think Fox should hire Andy Serkis for the job - and i'm not the only one to think so.

Kazuya -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (27/9/2012 12:38:00 PM)

Looking very much forward to this, the first was absolutely superb, devastating performance by Serkis and slick handling of the action. I think your suggestion of Serkis stepping into the director's chair is a solid one, I'm a huge fan of the guy. Otherwise I'd suggest Neill Blomkamp, mentioned this in the movie news thread as well.

Vadersville -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (1/10/2012 8:07:30 PM)

So Matt Reeves of Cloverfield has signed on to the sequel. Clicky Still think the titles should have been the other way round...

Timon -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (19/10/2012 1:34:20 PM)

This is quite disturbing news.

The sequel's script, which was written by ROTPOTA writers manda Silver and Rick Jaffa, is now being rewritten by Mark Bomback (Die Hard 4, Total Recall).

It's previously been tinkered by Scott Z. Burns - whose draft I'd trust.

Macavity -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (22/10/2012 12:11:50 PM)

What's especially worrying is that Wyatt left the project due to being unsure of the eventual product's quality. Not a good sign that it's still being pushed with the original release date.

Dannybohy -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (22/10/2012 4:19:01 PM)

Last movie was excellent, in fact I think im going to watch it again tonight now!. Looking forward to the next one!!....

Vadersville -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (24/2/2013 3:12:33 PM)

Apparently James Franco won't be in the next one. I don't know why he wouldn't be though. He was originally meant to get killed in the first one and then they decided to keep his character alive,. I would have put my money on him trying to cure the virus that was unleashed at the end of Rise, possibly trying to convince Casear to let him experiment with ape blood as they have a natural immunity to it...

Hmmmn. Yeah that is a toughy.

I can see it either way actually! One could argue that when it has actually come into being then it indeed is the 'Dawn'.

But as you say, should rise come before dawn?

Oh well. They obviously can't use Beneath, Escape, Conquest and Battle! LOL

Vadersville -> RE: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (24/2/2013 10:08:23 PM)

Getting even more worried about this the more I read. The latest is that it will be sent 15 years after the first and that apes will already be ruling the planet. I personally would have liked to see the fall of mankind and the apes rise as the dominant species not just jump ahead. especially considering the spread of the virus was only really seen in a post credits sequence in the last film.

Private Hudson -> RE: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2/3/2013 6:28:27 PM)

Yeah I would like to see how they take over rather than just a leap forward.

mysterious -> RE: Planet of the Apes Sequel (4/3/2013 9:43:26 AM)

Awesome that Gary Oldman is set to star as the human leader :-)

Escape from Beneath the Dawn of the Rise of the Conquest of the Battle for the Planet of the Apes!
