Post your comments on this article

GFoley83 -> Id only be interested if... (18/10/2011 4:35:39 AM)

Bay doesn't direct them. Can only see the studios using a big name director; Spielberg would be ideal and is already producing or Abrams given his connection now. Singer or Del Toro would be pretty awesome too.

Bloke from Oz -> RE: Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5? (18/10/2011 5:32:34 AM)

Oh for the love of everything that is good and decent in cinema, NO. JUST NO.

Ah, c'mon Blokey... You know it ain't about that anymore. It's just about making money. If we're lucky, every now and then, something special may come along and actually serve it's purpose and entertain us.

vdjfrancis -> I want more of the sky scraper scene (18/10/2011 7:12:39 AM)

Best thing in all 3 films!!!

sweetladybrick -> (18/10/2011 8:32:39 AM)

Pirates and Matrix sequels were overblown and soulless- transformers would fit in nicely with that ethos. Only the first one was near decent. They're robots from space that change into cars, for Christ's sake. They don't need a deep routed mythology that is involved in Earth's history and constantly constantly contradicts itself. "we don't know what this thing is" "oh wait, it's just like that one we have in the dam for the last 200 years" "oh yeah. Isn't there one on the moon too?"

nemesis prime -> (18/10/2011 9:13:45 AM)

statham vs decepticons would be a no contest.

also, my kids recently inherited some micronauts, they're shit.

Wild about Wilder -> RE: (18/10/2011 9:28:53 AM)

Imagine being in that cast & crew bad enough you have to spend that time making 1 film with Heir Bay [sm=16.gif] but 2 ? [sm=52.gif] [sm=23.gif]

Crispin_Glover -> An idea (18/10/2011 10:04:07 AM)

Lars von Trier directs 5 new Transformers films, back to back, setting himself a series of 7 impenetrable rules by which to shoot them, casting Madonna as a woman sadomasochistically persecuted by the marauding bots. Boof. Eat that, Hollywood.

partybee -> Was that... (18/10/2011 10:55:52 AM)

triple-link and angel getting drunk at a bar thing a reference to something?

christofurr -> Ugh.... (18/10/2011 11:09:11 AM)

...make it STOP.

Nicky C -> Yes, but ... (18/10/2011 11:20:18 AM)

... only if the story is coherent. I seldom have any friggin' clue what's happening in those movies. What was supposed to be happening at the end of the last one? For what purpose was that big thing in the sky being pulled out of the sky? It just doesn't make any sense! What is it that the Decepticons are trying to achieve? ARGH!

Emyr Thy King -> RE: Yes, but ... (18/10/2011 11:25:11 AM)

I think the next main human character should be played by Derek Jacobi and the films directed by Kenneth Brannagh. What do you think? [:D]

dapieman -> RE: Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5? (18/10/2011 11:26:50 AM)

It's never going to be high art and sure the main reason anyone is even slightly interested is because of the big robots smacking the crap out of each other, but is it too much to ask for someone to put a bit of a story in amongst the shiny bits?

my solution, demote bay to effects supervisor and give it to a director who might work out how to inject a bit of life, then i might take notice again...

MoBiUGeArSkIn -> RE: Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5? (18/10/2011 11:28:25 AM)

What was so hard about it? They were bringing Cybertron to Earth. Then intended to use humans as slave labour to rebuild it.

I don't understand how anyone could look to these films and say they don't understand them. What' to understand. Understand?

captainrentboy -> RE: Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5? (18/10/2011 11:37:14 AM)

I'm only interested if the next one is 4hrs+ and has a cast that is entirely assembled of models turned 'actress'.
I want far more hysterical jokes and far less plot (Who needs plot? ROBOTS + BOOM.SMASH.EXPLOSIONS!!! (in 3D) = YES) and the final action sequence needs to last 150 minutes (at least).

If it has those, I'm there.

Use humans as slave labour to rebuild Cybertron? Great plan. We can't even build decent electric cars or trains that work when it snows but rebuild a super-advanced robot planet? In space? No problem.

bigmeuprudeboy1 -> Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5? (18/10/2011 12:17:59 PM)

nope
I wasnt ready for Transformers-end of

or the tenth xmen or Wolverine or bloody Spiderman either

adam250579 -> Smarten it up (18/10/2011 1:05:44 PM)

Get Michael Bay out!!!!

Revstar -> Can I suggest that... (18/10/2011 1:16:40 PM)

...this is one series that urgently needs a 'reboot', a term that instils dread elsewhere but would provide fresh hope to Transformers fans whose childhood dreams have been unutterably raped by Bay. Why is Hollywood happy to reboot everywhere but where it's actually perhaps needed?

Revstar -> (18/10/2011 1:21:32 PM)

Oh and yes: I agree with adam250579 - get Michael 'Talentless' Bay the hell out of this and, perhaps, all other future movies ever in the existence of humanity. Please.

VincentWire -> But it's not about big robots smacking the hell out of each other, is it? (18/10/2011 2:16:27 PM)

I'm tired of so called film fans trying to excuse these films as dumb fun and being just about the robots. These films always seem to be more about Sam Whitwanker trying to get a job, going to college or trying to sell stuff on ebay and the robots are a mere sideshow a lot of the time. Cineastes have every right to condemn these films as toxic waste, but more forgiving film fans would at least like a Transformers film that actually IS about the robots (who don't need lips or head scarves btw) where they save the day and not the US military.

kitfisto -> (18/10/2011 2:40:18 PM)

Please Dreamworks just stop!, you've had three bites at this cherry and you've messed it up royally every single time! The last thing the world needs is another one of these overblown messes.
P.s Nice Krusty ref :)

D.J -> (18/10/2011 2:45:52 PM)

Give Jason Statham the lead role in T4, as Chev Chelios! and let's have Neveldine/Taylor direct.

Emyr Thy King -> RE: (18/10/2011 3:28:50 PM)

Perhaps some off-world action would be preferable the next time around? Get away form Earth and humans and just do a film thats Autobot and Decepticon centric.

Spaldron -> RE: RE: (18/10/2011 3:40:11 PM)

Oh, Jesus. This thread could go supernova.

Emyr Thy King -> RE: RE: (18/10/2011 3:56:09 PM)

Best idea yet! I'll settle for giving Mr Bay truckloads of money to stay the hell away from the film so we don't get inundated with his sexist, racist, military-porn style while trying to enjoy a movie about robots beating the hell out of each other.

We can't. Why assume, in a film where giant alien robots are brining their home planet into Earth's atmosphere, they couldn't? Cybertron is dead. There's nothing on it, and no way to create life going forward. Need slaves. Got a whole planet of humans to enslave. Job done.
