Even though ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010) suck, I still think Tim Burton is a brilliant filmmaker, and FRANKENWEENIE will hopefully be a great film. Plus, the fact that this will be a stop-motion animated film and SHOT in Black & White will make it stand out from all the recent animated films.

I have to say that the original was, well, original considering it is based around James Whale's classic 30's film. I know that statement is contradictory but that is like so many other things Burton does. Things shouldn't work but (with Planet of the Apes being the exception) more often than not they do. He had me at Pee Wee's Big Adventure and has kept me since. Now the man is remaking what was essentially a re-make with a twist but also elaborating the piece with his artistic talents in stop motion. I hope that his original twisted sketches come alive as much as they did in Vincent. Just to set the record straight on my view of "Apes", whilst generally it is a let down I do feel there were flourishes that were brilliant.

I love his original short, and his animated work has always been magnificent. If it captures the magic of his earlier works I cannot wait. He's a brilliant artist, and let's not forget that pretty much all mainstream film makers are rehashing old material. What matters is the final result.
