Thanks Dan!! I'll manage something, dont worry...babies love Movie festivals im led to believe!!

Hoping the event is October ish anyway, that would seem to make sense, as in long enough after Olympics and before Christmas so that peeps can afford to travel.

See ya there if it happens!!

MASH4077 -> RE: Movie Con V (12/7/2012 4:34:43 PM)

Probably not October (assuming it's in London of course) ... London Film Festival sort of dominates everything else for a couple of weeks in October!

elab49 -> RE: Movie Con V (13/7/2012 10:09:22 AM)

I hope no-one objects but I've changed the thread title slightly to help newbies come to the right place to discuss Big Screen etc [:)]

daveyhd -> RE: Movie Con V (13/7/2012 12:26:56 PM)

We could just rename the London film festival "Moviecon V" and kill two birds with one stone.

This idea is good. Empire would never let 360 open their festival.

llama_again -> RE: Movie Con V (15/7/2012 7:52:03 PM)

I'm alternately looking at this thread and the Comic-Con updates, quietly sobbing. I NEED footage of giant monsters and tiny superheroes!!!

nclowe -> RE: New York Comic-Con 2013 (20/7/2012 5:50:10 PM)

I'm gonna put this out there now so people have plenty of time to think and/or save.

Would anyone be interested in going to New York Comic-Con next year?

*my reasoning and lifestory and such*

Next year is my 30th. I never normally bother doing anything for b.days as a)its in Feb and b)it ends up being a right faf to get people together! So I'd been umming and ah-ing what to do. I'd pretty much decided on going to New York for a long weekend, then changed mind and thought I could fulfill dream of going to SDCC. However as awesome as SDCC would be it a)looks super expensive and b)is looking more like a nightmarish version of big screen *flashbacks to the queuing*. Then low and behold...it came to me. New York AND Geek-fest? New York Comic-Con!

Now obviously this wouldnt be half as fun by myself so I thought I'd see if anyone else was remotely interested in going next year (gives 15months to save)? If a few of us wanted to go a)it would be more fun and b)we might be able to find somewhere a little cheaper to stay with a larger party.

So.....have a think.....

Kesker -> RE: New York Comic-Con 2013 (20/7/2012 6:16:38 PM)

Completely on-board mate. :)

Matthew Elliott -> RE: New York Comic-Con 2013 (23/7/2012 9:59:45 AM)

Hey all (this year I'm not scrounging for tickets)

Hope the last year has treated you all well. I'm just trying to work out the scoop, on http://www.empirebigscreen.com/ it says:

Just announced - dates for BIG SCREEN next year - 14-16 September 2012

Is this old news that's no longer happening, or the real deal?

If the latter... how do you get tickets apart from going on the forum every day and asking multiple people, getting helped out by lovely forumites and eventually, somehow managing to go every year?

Ethanial -> RE: New York Comic-Con 2013 (23/7/2012 10:41:44 AM)

Been like that for ages, with no follow up.

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (23/7/2012 1:31:20 PM)

Hi Matthew, the posting from Helen earlier this month is the most recent info that we have.

Afternoon all,

It's been brought to our attention that this is online: http://www.eventmagazine.co.uk/bulletin/eventnewsbulletin/article/1139331/empire-magazines-live-event-canned-2012/?DCMP=EMC-CONEventnewsbulletin

Just in case any of you happened to be reading Event magazine and got worried, let's be clear: the decision was taken not to do Empire Presents Big Screen at the O2 in the same format as last year - as I think you all already know. Since then we've been working - and continue to work - on putting something else together. For various reasons, including the Olympics and the general madness of London this year, that's still a work in progress. But when we have anything to announce y'all will be the first to know - I wish we had more to tell you right now.

Matthew Elliott -> RE: Movie Con V (24/7/2012 9:53:19 PM)

Cheers, thanks for the info.

piccolo135 -> RE: Movie Con V (24/7/2012 10:38:19 PM)

Helen O'Hara - "The Movie-Con must come back"

Hewitt/Videblogisodeman - "What if it doesn't exist anymore?"

Helen O'Hara - "It must....it must.."

Andrew Thorne -> RE: Movie Con V (29/7/2012 9:24:42 AM)

Another down side of not having MovieCon/Big Screen we can't pick up our cheap subscriptions for Empire again.

The 20 deal last year was a bargain

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (30/7/2012 8:20:58 AM)

I got the renewal email as well. They're looking for 75 as I'm in Ireland. When you take in the exchange rate, that's significantly more expensive than the newsagent self price.

Andrew Thorne -> RE: Movie Con V (31/7/2012 7:28:02 PM)

That does seem rather expensive to renew the subscription.

kiasan -> RE: Movie Con V (6/8/2012 10:46:03 AM)

Still no news? :-(
I have several plans on hold as I don't know which week-end Movie-Con will happen on... Can we at least get a month? Pretty please?

vaxes -> RE: Movie Con / Big Screen Discussion (7/8/2012 12:23:43 PM)

Has any one else noticed the big screen website has been taken down? its just redirects you to the clarion home page?

Are we to take this as a sign that big screen isn't happening at all :(

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (7/8/2012 1:30:51 PM)

Hi Vaxes, as far as I know this is the most recent posting from any of the Empire staff.

Greggieboy -> RE: Movie Con V (12/8/2012 6:09:35 PM)

Sooooo, Im guessing this thread wont get to 300 pages then.

Was a year ago today we were all in The O2 watching Chris interview the guys from Merlin.

Really hope something does happen at som point this year

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (13/8/2012 3:32:54 PM)

I'm just glad we got past 300 posts.

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (13/8/2012 3:38:05 PM)

For my 500th post, I decided to go down memory lane. Here are the websites for the previous Movie-Con/Big Screen events.

Movie-Con 2008 - 16-17 August 2008

Movie-Con 2009 - 15-16 August 2009

Movie-Con 2010 - 13-15 August 2010

Big Screen 2011 - 12-14 August 2011

Movie-Con 2012 - ?

DJ Rob C: Mark II! -> RE: Movie Con V (13/8/2012 11:52:12 PM)

Can't believe it's a year ago now, wow think a year ago tomorrow night was Fright Night! [:-]

MrsG -> RE: Movie Con V (16/8/2012 4:43:19 PM)

Was the first one really in 2008? I'm suddenly feeling a bit old...

BethN21286 -> RE: Movie Con V (17/8/2012 2:18:37 AM)

Nah, my movie-con I giftbag is old, looking yoda old these days

kiasan -> RE: Movie Con V (21/8/2012 2:35:46 PM)

Please, please, please, please Empire Gods, could you at least let us know vaguely when Moviecon V might potentially take place? Will it definitely be before Christmas? Could you maybe give us the month?
My boyfriend is likely to dump/strangle me if I don't stop with the "I can't plan that yet, I don't know what weekend Moviecon will be".

Please have pity on me!
[:)]

buttercupkitty -> RE: Movie Con V (22/8/2012 9:32:33 AM)

I can't see any way it would be September at this point, I also think October is unlikely due to LFF and December because of Christmas. My guess would be that *if* anything happens this year, it would be November. And that's a pretty big if.

DanC -> RE: Movie Con V (22/8/2012 11:23:02 AM)

"And if wishes were horses, we'd all be eatin' steak".

jackmansgirl -> RE: Movie Con V (29/8/2012 1:01:04 PM)

Too early to start talking about what we want to see at Movie Con 2013?
