Im happy the films a success but inflated ticket prices have had as bigger impact on the films gross as its popularity. £10.80 for 3D, pretty poor 3D at that.

There was an in interesting piece on why TDKR won't beat the Avengers and it basically boils down to the fact the there are vastly more 3D screens than there are IMAX screens. So even if the exact same number of people saw it as the Avengers on opening weekend it wouldn't break the record.

However, as has been pointed out previously no one knows for sure but I strongly suspect that the Avengers will win the 2012 box office crown. What might help TDKR is that TDK performed well overseas but not huge. I expect it's International revenue to be far higher this time around.

Yeah, and it also doesn't help TDKR that a lot of people are seeing Avengers more than once. If they see it in 2D, they'll then see it in 3D or vice versa. I've even heard of people seeing it in 3D more than once which is insane.

I think its safe to say that a lot of people will be going to see TDKR more than once.If its as good as the previous two movies i certainly will be!

Anyone think the new Spider Man will underperform? It just doesnt seem like an event movie given that it hasnt been that long since the original trilogy and especially after the epicness of the Avengers and sure to be awesome TDKR.

The only film in with a chance of beating Avengers is The Hobbit and that's probably a stretch. It'll come close though but I cant see it doing $1bn in less than three weeks.

I still think TDKR will out perform TDK and cross the $1 billion mark a lot quicker due in part to inflation, an increased foreign market and other factors but I don't think anybody in their right mind predicted just how big the Avengers was going to be.

I think Spider-man will do well but won't come close to troubling Bats or Stark and Co. I guess the easiest comparable would be X-men First Class.

I think the Hobbit again will do solid business and will gross over $1 billion but I don't see it being a record breaker.

Isn't it also the case that cinema's much prefer to show in 3D due to the higher prices? With the Avengers I struggled to find a cinema that was only showing it in 2D and when I did I had to leave halfway through because the kids in the screening were so bloody obnoxious. Desperate to see it I had to settle for a 3D screening the next day.

For a start Avengers will cross the $420 million domestic mark by the end of this weekend and is a sure fire bet to do over $500 million probably closer to $550 - $600 million. Also I think TDKR rises will make over $1 billion worldwide with room to spare.

The others seem OK but I fancy Total Recall to be a bit of a surprise hit ala Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I'm always wary of confronting groups of teens as you just never know how they are going to react. At least the management team have offered some complimentary tickets so I'll get to see the Avengers for the 2.5th time!

It looks like Dark Shadows is going to flop if that $150 mill budget is correct. I'd far refer it to have done well than alice in wonderland..

Solid stuff from MiiiB, Avengers currently 1.3 bill nice BO figures.


How about Prometheus? About £65 Mill budget: I'm predicting about 300 Million worldwide. That said I am terrible at predicting figures.
