SWOTBM -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (10/5/2011 3:15:10 PM)

Hmmm, two 360 exclusives in the top ten versus 9 (or 11 if you include the tied games) in the PS3 top ten [sm=33.gif]

Good to see Demon's Souls and MGS4 up there.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (10/5/2011 3:18:08 PM)

Probably because the majority of forumites use their 360 to play multiplatform releases therefore they're bound to vote for those in the 360 vote [:)]

That's because most people only play exclusives on the PS3 and stick to the 360 for real gaming. [;)]

True, but that number still seems a bit low...

borstal -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (10/5/2011 3:21:53 PM)

Bioshock, Mass Effect, Deadspace and Orange Box all came out first on 360 didnt they?

thatlittlemonkey -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (11/5/2011 10:04:13 AM)

No mention of the fact that there is what I suspect is more than double the number of 360 games voted for. If you were to look back at the voting thread and the amount of "honourable mentions" people made to games they couldn't put in their top 20, there's a serious case of vote splitting going on.

This may be a question of personal taste, but of the PS3 exclusives in that top 10, only Uncharted 2 would make my top 20 of this generation.

I'm not sure PS3 has even had the first ME, but yeah Mass Effect 2, Bioshock and Orange Box were out of 360 a lot longer before their PS3 release. I think Dead Space was out about the same time though

Recommended titles to console war in 1 post, impressive! [:D]

BishopQuaker -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (2/8/2011 8:28:18 PM)

Right.
That's a big list of games.

I'm going to reel of my last few that I've played and hopefully based on that you can suggest a game I might like Xbox 360 incidentally.

I have recently played...
Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare (I thought UN was a bit of a let down)
Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood - Awesome... until Brotherhood died on me and I was stuck in some kind of save/load loop cycle so I had to give up.
Lego Batman, Harry Potter and Star Wars The Complete Saga
Fifa 10
SEGA Ultimate Collection
GTA IV
Left 4 Dead 2 - Which I thought was shit.

So based on those, what would you suggest I have a stab at next?

One assumes you never played L4D2 online. You certainly missed out.

Judging by the above, you may want to buy a Megadrive, some LEGO and go base jumping from olde buildings.

Have you tried the Gears of War games? Very good and can be picked up for a pittance these days.

Try:

Dead Space
Crackdown
Batman Arkham Asylum

BishopQuaker -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (2/8/2011 9:57:43 PM)

Shit.
Sorry I had Arkham Asylum. Awesome game.

What are Deadspace and Crackdown like?
Any other ideas?

rich -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 12:33:34 AM)

Deadspace is a good one if you're into the whole space horror movie themes. They must be giving it away these days too. Crackdown isnt my kind of thing.

From_Hell -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 8:19:43 AM)

Crackdown is a bit of a sandbox shooter. You're a genetically created law enforcer, and you're tasked with bringing down crime syndicates. The real draw of the game is the sandbox-style play, being able to upgrade your characters abilities and collecting agility orbs. Hoovering up agility orbs and listening out for the noise they make can become incredibly addictive! It's been out for quite a while, so you should be able to pick it up off Ebay for pennies.

Another good recommendation is Castlevania Lord of Shadow, which is a brilliant action game, and features some of the most beautiful graphics I've seen on this generation of consoles.

BishopQuaker -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 9:14:04 AM)

So far Deadspace and Crackdown.
Good stuff.

Any other suggestions folks?

Chief -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 9:31:04 AM)

Crackdown is very light-hearted and easy. Great game for just mucking about.
I'd say pick up Fable 2 and Halo 3 or Halo: Reach.

sharkboy -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 9:54:39 AM)

I'm currently addicted to Fable 2, so I'll second that recommendation!  In fact, if RPG's your thing, then Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect both score very highly and both can be picked up quite cheap.  The first Lego Indy is great fun, and I've heard plenty of praise for the POTC version too.

In the Assassins creed "run, parkour, kill some things" style of gameplay, the Prince of Persia games are pretty similar in style and execution.  For a sightly different twist to this theme, try Mirrors Edge.  Again, these should be available for not much of your hard-earned cash.

Not sure if you're into racing games, but even if you're not (and I generally hate them!), Burnout Paradise can be great fun as it actually rewards crashes! [:D]

I had that when I first got my Xbox!
Not a bad game either. A bit frustrating at times though. I may pick it up again. Or something with similar potential for smashing things.

I may pick up Indi 1. It was 10 when I saw it yesterday which I was a bit surprised about.

On t'other forum I'm on I hear good things about Mass Effect too

thatlittlemonkey -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (3/8/2011 11:37:28 AM)

If you enjoyed GTA and are looking for another good sandbox game, apparently Saints Row 2 is great fun.

I've really been enjoying Alan Wake too, you should be able to grab that for about a tenner now.

I'd also concur with Sharky, Lego Indy is fun (worth it for 10) and POTC is great too.

Dude, there arent enough good things to be said about Mass Effect. Utterly brilliant.

BishopQuaker -> RE: Joypad Recommends! (4/8/2011 5:00:39 PM)

Well folks I have been out and used some of my CEX trade in monies and come away with

Crackdown
and
LEGO Indiana Jones.

I would have got LA Noire but for reasons that not even the bloke in the shop could explain apart from "People are idiots", they'ed put it up by 3

Two good games. I would also recommend The Darkness, which can also be picked up for pennies. I would not recommend Dead Space due to the facy you don't seem overly keen on FPS games.

*And yes, I realise the irony of my post. It's one of the few examples that proves the rule.

Life after Skyrim!

Not that I'm anywhere near finished with it but just thinking about other games I can play that are similar (I know Porntrooper has asked this question in the Mass Effect thread).

One I have come across is "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning"

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingdoms-of-Amalur-Reckoning-PS3/dp/B0053BQU96/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp

It's this comment that intrigues me

quote:

The game is being developed under the leadership of Ken Rolston, lead designer of the critically acclaimed RPGs Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Has anyone had any experience of this one?

Get Battlefield 3. You run around a large open area, starting fights and trying to stab people so it's pretty similar to Skyrim. Join us. [:D]

Sorry, I can't answer your question. [:D]

I'm a bit nervous of the old multi player stuff especially reading your B3 stories about the twats that are out there (Empirites excluded, except maybe Scott and his toy [;)] [:D])

Two Worlds! Lots of exploration, excellent quest writing and a cool crafting system.
