vad3r -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 3:37:07 PM)

You paid money for those?

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 4:11:59 PM)

No, they were all free

Let's see your collection Vader

vad3r -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 4:21:17 PM)

My Blu Ray collection is not impressive enough (in size I might add) to warrant a photo of it yet. I'm slightly more picky than you in terms of what Blu Rays I'd want to grace my collection.

Oh and it's 'vad3r' not 'Vader'.

[;)]

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 4:23:34 PM)

in that case i'll just assume you own a load of shit films then [:D]

Have fun with your collection Vader

juanvasquez -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 4:29:21 PM)

Now DK, surely you've learnt not to feed the trolls by now.

I will wait til my copy of Alien Anthology turns up before I post mine.

Maybe.

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 4:30:39 PM)

A pic isn't always necessary, just a list will suffice!

You're right Juan, The trolls are hungry

Says the guy who just posted a bunch of WWE dvd's in "What have you Bought This Week?"! I'm not a fan of the same sort of films as Donovan, but he's amassed a fairly definitive collection of that particular area of the cinema that he loves so dearly.

That's a bit personal [:(]

Mine are all over the house - I might take a picture later.

vad3r -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 5:37:40 PM)

Make sure you put your Buffy S2 DVD in the picture as well.

Why? lol. It's a Blu-ray thread.

I can't decide whether to sell my back to the future tin or not.  One just went on e-bay for £72.  I could buy the normal set back and other goodies for that price.

vad3r -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 5:47:09 PM)

Sell it. The normal set is £25.

If it was me, I'd sell it and just buy the trilogy on DVD. It's only a fiver now and the PQ and extras are virtually the same as the Blu Ray.

The blu-ray picture quality is so much better than the DVD! I'm sure I can pick up that set for around £20 on e-bay.  The tin is just sat there (you know what I mean) so I might as well.

RPupkin -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 6:50:38 PM)

Nice collection Donovan, but REAL collectors alphabetise and sort by studio! [sm=whistle.gif][;)]

I alphabetise by directors surname...

elab49 -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 7:19:41 PM)

Ditto. I've never heard of anyone sorting by studio before? I mean, maybe in animation having a Disney and a Ghibli and a Pixar section. But how'd you find anything if you have to remember if it's Warners or Universal first?

Thats just not at all true. For a start the equivalent DVD set is £12 on Amazon (and I'm not sure that even that has all of the BD extras), but the PQ thing is just pure BS. Sure there was a lot of controversy about the use of DNR but it still stands that the BD release is the best looking version of the film available on home video.

Oh, and the Blu-ray can be found for £19.

Thanks, but isn't the BTTF set one of the worst 'big' releases on Blu Ray? I remember in the BTTF Blu Ray thread that everyone was saying how poor the picture is and directorscut was posting screenshots of the PQ that made Marty's face look like clay.

I actually know a few people that do. Something about the logo's and suchlike lining up appeals to the major OCD'ers!

Nope, it was merely further proof that one shouldn't judge a film by screencaps alone. Granted, it wasn't perfect, but it looked great and is far superior to any other release of the film.

They must be majorly unhappy bunnies when different releases chop and change the packaging [:D]

£3.99 + £1.26 shipping <<<<< click

It has all the extras on Blu Ray bar the Blu Ray exclusive documentary.

elab49 -> RE: Post your Blu Ray collection! (8/5/2011 7:34:37 PM)

Apart from it being used, I don't think that's the equivalent release in terms of print?

It doesn't say much about extras though.

Exactly! It's missing the exclusive Blu-ray documentary, so its not the same. In other words, what you originally said is not at all true! Its a great 90 minute documentary too, so is significant enough to be missed.

The set that you linked to is considerably older too, and doesn't contain the same transfer of the film. So there goes your unsubstantiated claims that the PQ is "virtually the same".

A second hand copy is hardly fair in comparison to a brand new BD. Once again, you are talking rubbish.

That's not very fair adam.
The advice was originally meant for cynic and not you. Almost everyone in the BTTF Blu Ray thread was complaining about the PQ, so it's not foolish to say that paying 4x more for the Blu Ray just yet is probably not worth it.
