I agree, Carrie is far too hysterical and in love with Brody. How long can the powers that be forget Carrie's flaws because of her hunches?

Interesting scene at the tailor's shop - Quinn caught on too late after Carrie's tip off, their back up was too late.

Great scene, although I knew as soon as all the cops were down that they certainly weren't all dead. Really like Quinn.

Getting a bit bored with Mike pursuing the Tom Walker thing, but I get it - Brody is facing pressure from every angle. Wonder how long until he breaks?

I reckon it's going to get back to the terrorists that Brody is working for the CIA. I can't see how it won't now that Gazelle has told Mike and he's going to keep digging.

[:D]

Yeah asides from Quinn and Danny (who, at the moment we don't know made it or not... I'd imagine he did) there wasn't anybody else involved in that scene that we as an audience knew at all, so seemed obvious Quinn would make it.

He's blatantly got a love/hate thing going on with Carrie - wonder how long it is before they start bumpin uglies?

Somebody else mentioned in the UK speed thread that they figured Brody would end up being a double agent... but now it looks like he could be a 're-doubled' agent. Things can start getting a little silly if they go down that route though?

Triple agent?!
Quadruple agent?!
Quintuple agent?!

I hope it doesn't get too silly. I reckon the writers just want us to have that doubt about Brody's loyalties that we had in S1.

Timon -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (8/11/2012 12:11:58 PM)

Well... that raid was surprising. Really like not knowing who Brody is really helping, but I think he still wants to avenge Issa.

As for his daughter's hit and run subplot - oh please.

Bit 24 that isn't it?

paulyboy -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (20/11/2012 10:00:50 AM)

**SPOILERS FOR LATEST EPISODE**

For those that have seen it, was that the big man at the end? He looks different without the beard, just want to make sure I'm not losing my marbles!

Sway -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (20/11/2012 1:53:30 PM)

Yes, that was Abu Nazir. At least that was what I was assuming too.

For some reason, despite enjoying Homeland, I also get really irritated by it. Every episode is Brody having a headache with his family, Carrie being told repeatedly NOT to do something and then just doing it anyway, and her and Brody having some kind of emotional or physical union.

The weird thing is, if we use the 24 comparison, Homeland is not as formulaic as that and I loved 24, but for some reason it's starting to grind my gears...

homersimpson_esq -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (20/11/2012 2:36:23 PM)

I actually liked where the hit'n'run story was going this week. Dana breaking down to her mother, how she feels she's a murderer, it was really well played, I thought. AS A PARENT (yay, people LOVE that phrase right?) I could totally see Brody's meltdown reaction as believable - that frustration at having his hands tied utterly when his daughter absolutely wants to do the right thing. That has to be hard.

And I can't hate Carrie, even if she is a bit mental. I've had a soft spot for Claire Danes ever since Romeo + Juliet. Stardust just solidified it. She's lovely.

It's quite fun watching Homeland and then Boardwalk Empire and thinking, blimey, it really didn't work out too well for those Stardust characters, eh?

This really boils my piss also, me and the girlfriend have both uttered "For Fuck's SAKE!" at the screen about 12 times so far this season, the woman just doesn't do what she's told!

beebs_ -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (23/11/2012 7:16:14 PM)

Everytime they let Carrie out the office they need to handcuff her to the damn van door!

My favourite pic of him so far -

Bit underwhelmed by the latest episode but that's only because I watched it after watching Boardwalk Empire!

So now we know why Quinn is there.

I was actually going to say I really enjoyed this week's episode, in comparison to previous ones. And I gave up on Boardwalk Empire after Season 1 as I thought it was dull!

So Quinn is meant to take Brody out once they've got Nazir?

Erlenmeyer Flask -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (27/11/2012 12:35:50 PM)

I'd say so. Wouldn't look good if a potential VP was a terrorist.

Can't see what happened in ep 9 being the real attack, though.

Boardwalk Empire has got better and better.

In hindsight I really enjoyed the episode but it really did pale in comparison to the Boardwalk Empire one which was honestly one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen.

Sway -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (4/12/2012 12:30:57 PM)

Oh for fucks sake...

"Carrie, do not go back and try to capture Nazir on your own."

Obviously that's the first thing she does.

She would so get fired over and over again in the real world.

Reidy -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (4/12/2012 3:37:07 PM)

I'll be honest, I'm struggling to care any more. Just seems oh so boring. And being able to control a pacemaker by remote control. Really? Just a bit ridiculous.

Again, for some unknown reason to me I continue to watch it and actually keep being engrossed, despite my many grievances with it, and thinking that exact same thing while watching the latest episode. Also, 'bit' ridiculous is a gross understatement.

beebs_ -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (5/12/2012 12:18:28 AM)

This is getting too far fetched and stupid.

Apparently these things can be done, but it's more of the fantastical aspects of it like Brody searching the VP's office or Nasir abducting Carrie, or helicopters scooping up Brody... Too much!

And yet... I'm enjoying it. Even as I sit there and know it's stupid!

It's funny, I care more about Saul/Estes/Quinn than I do about Carrie/Brody/Nasir.

Oh.... and interesting how Danny turns up all of a sudden eh?!?!?

musht -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (12/12/2012 12:02:39 AM)

Absolutely agree that this has jumped the shark. Ultra-patriot Carrie covering up the assassination of the VP? I don't think so. What car was she driving home? How was she not escorted to a hospital? How has she been allowed get away with the shit she's getting away with?

Brody and Saul and carrying this show for me at the moment.

It's making the number of times Jack Bauer would go against authority almost seem realistic.

As for the latest episode, again I didn't really care. I am going to see out the series, but I am seriously skeptical that I will bother come series three. Also, despite my initial impression that she was a decent character, this whole Dana storyline is a real pain. I find myself hating every second that she is on screen.

blackduck -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 9:26:13 AM)

The final episode needs to be amazing if it's going to get me to come back for a third series.

The last two episodes took a sharp plunge into stupidity.

How does Brody still have access to the vice president??
How did the entire FBI miss the hideyhole??
How was Carrie left alone with one agent when the show makes a specific point of saying they work in pairs??
Why did Brodys daughter get so much air time??

Sway -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 11:50:08 AM)

Godfather from Generation Kill in the latest episode - that's two Gen Kill actors I've spotted so far. Wonder if there are any links between writers/directors etc?

Erlenmeyer Flask -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 12:32:41 PM)

The Carrie/Brody on screen time now appears to consist of little more than shagging/talking/phoning.

Shifty Bench -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 5:39:01 PM)

I have only watched the first episode of season two so far but I get the idea that it is not worth carrying on. Is this right? Should I just leave it? I didn't think much of the opening episode of s2 to be honest.

beebs_ -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 6:14:27 PM)

No, it picks up... It's enjoyable.

But there are a some seemlingly ridiculous things going on in some of the episodes.

Shifty Bench -> RE: Homeland - US Speed (13/12/2012 6:15:43 PM)

Cool, thanks. I'll give it another go [:)]

Up to about episode five it is enjoyable and well worth the watch. Since then, its been an abomination.
