Skiba -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (27/7/2012 10:58:23 PM)

Did I just see a Nazi salute???

Flatulent_Bob -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (27/7/2012 11:04:07 PM)

Well I'm loving it so far.
Not entirely sure the social media section worked but it been a great British show.

PS Boaby FFS give it a rest, please. [sm=51.gif]. This is going to be a great spectacle for Britain.

kumar -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (27/7/2012 11:17:39 PM)

Nice bit of Trainspotting music there, from the cold turkey scene

Hobbitonlass -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 12:44:47 AM)

That was fucking awesome!

Loved the lighting of the cauldron by the young athletes and then how the petals rose and came together to give us the flame. Then the fireworks!!!

blackduck -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 12:49:27 AM)

the cauldren looked amazing. But Paul MC carthy is really starting to look like gilian mckeith.

Overall might have lacked the awesome precision of the Chinese one but it made up for it with wit and style, everyone involved should be proud.

boaby -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 1:04:25 AM)

Cauldron = cool.
Arctics doing Come Together = cool.
Steel rings = cool.

Grandpa McCartney butchering Hey Jude = uncool.

NHS love = cool.

Seb Coe = deeply, deeply uncool.

JessFranco -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 1:10:08 AM)

Any ceremony that features music by Fuck Buttons, Pet Shop Boys and Dizzee Rascal is fine with me. The Thomas Heatherwick cauldron was stunning, the fireworks looked amazing from my window six miles away and there was a lot of nice symbolism throughout.

Ultimo Lee -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 1:35:08 AM)

The stadium looked incredible and then the crap started.

An overlong mess of british history with some naff bond thing in the middle followed by Beckham looking a cock on a boat.

Always enjoy the teams coming out with the crazily dressed overexcited mad people (i also spotted the nazi salute) and TeamGeeBee brilliantly reprazentin modern britain with the gold trimmed hoodie.

Not the worst ceremony but god it was dull

Trevor Nelson! Why?

Edit: the torch was great though

Couldn't agree less (except the stadium and the torch, which were great)...it was a triumph from Boyle with just a few dodgy bits. It was perhaps a bit overlong but it was far from dull.

Anyway, a bit of women's beach volleyball to start the day...morning!

I'm letting patriotism overrule my loins by watching the rowing rather than beach volleyball. [:)]

I've just flicked over...the venue looks stunning.

Really looking forward to the road race. We've got a bit of a superstar team with Cavendish, Millar, Wiggins and Froome. I also love that the team revolves around Cavendish and the team will do everything they can to make him win. And this is a team featuring the top two from the Tour de France! Wiggins himself said 'I'll do whatever job is asked of me'. I love that team ethos.

The Union Flag on the fencer's mask is really disconcerting. Like some sort of bizarre alien...

steffols -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 12:20:01 PM)

Craig Benson in the Semi-Final! Finishing fourth but beating the Scottish Record that he beat at the British Championships. He's only going to get better.

KnightofZyryab -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 12:54:47 PM)

Watched all the racket sports I could this morning - badminton, table tennis and tennis. And beach volleyball - the German women looked pretty fit. As athletes of course.

Regards opening ceremony last night, thought it was superb, great representations of British popular culture and couldn't go wrong leaning on the great music that has come out of the country in the last century. Didn't see McCartney but judging by the reaction to his performance probably a good thing.

Didn't last long.

Jamieson beat it in the next heat.

Hannah Miley looking pretty good too.

Ultimo Lee -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 2:53:20 PM)

So far watched some gymnastics, 1 minute of fencing (what a useless bloody sport) and Indoor Women's volleyball Serbia/China which was pretty good.

Serbia battered China in the first set with the Serbian girls looking enormous (and Stefana Veljkovic & Ivana Djerisilo not being bad looking) and oozing confident arrogance then China just wiped the floor with them to win 3-1. The Serbians looked as if they'd been hit by a train at the end.

Probably catch some swimming later and skip the useless rowing & equestrian events.

boaby -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 3:25:00 PM)

Team GB making a rickets of the road race.

23 minutes left ish. 51 second gap.

Squeaky bum time.

Hood_Man -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 3:30:04 PM)

CRASH!!!

Hood_Man -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 3:37:46 PM)

I have no idea who's winning but this is exciting [:D]

boaby -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 3:45:27 PM)

Well. That's that innit.

Cav medal-less again. Oops.

See if these 2 lads out front make a sprint of it.

boaby -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 3:59:39 PM)

beeb having a mare today like.

Cycle commentators not having a scooby for the most part. Hearing the producers on the telly. Playing the trail stuff in a feeble attempt to cover. Barker silent is a bonus though.

[:D]

Ultimo Lee -> RE: Olympic Games 2012. (28/7/2012 4:04:47 PM)

Anybody need a wallpaper? I might not have been a fan of the opening ceremony but bugger me this looks awesome
