Snake-Eyes -> SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (1/3/2011 8:26:13 PM)

There are a few record labels (Inntrada, La-La Land etc.) that have, in recent years, made many a film fan's dreams come true by releasing some outstanding film score albums that were previously never available or if they were, it was only in some shortened version (Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade?! The original 1989 version was a joke!). Very recently, Snake-Eyes has been lucky to add complete scores such as Goldsmith's FIRST BLOOD and Jones' CLIFFHANGER to the collection. Thing is, there are still a whole load of film scores out there that deserve to be given some sort of 'special edition' release. A few that I'm hoping for...

YOUNG GUNS - Brian Banks & Anthony Marinelli
YOUNG GUNS II: BLAZE OF GLORY - Alan Silvestri
SOUTHERN COMFORT - Ry Cooder
TRUE LIES (Complete Version) - Brad Fiedel
COBRA (Complete Version) - Sylvester Levay
MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR (Complete Version) - Brian May
STARCHASER: THE LEGEND OF ORIN - Andrew Belling

Are there any other titles on anyone's 'wish list'...?

I'd love to have May's score for Mad Max 2 as well. I would also add:

An American Werewolf in London - Elmer Bernstein
Stand By Me - Jack Nietzsche
Young Sherlock Holmes - Bruce Broughton
Thelma and Louise - Hans Zimmer (I know that some of his stuff is included on the soundtrack album but it ain't enough!)

Plus an affordable copy of Carpenter's Big Trouble score would be jolly nice!

Damn, yeah! Bernstein's AMERICAN WEREWOLF would sit nicely alongside my GHOSTBUSTERS score CD.
(I have the BIG TROUBLE double-disc. hee hee hee....! [;)])

Mad Max 2 - the original tapes are lost, but a rerecording (like Tadlow did for Beyond Thunderdome) is always a possibilty...

American Werewolf - there's only about 7 minutes of actual score in the movie, so it's looking fairly unlikely unless it ends up on a compilation of some kind.
Young Sherlock Holmes will definitely come around again at some point. Intrada did a limited 500 copy release a long time ago & are well aware that the fans want another chance to get it.
Thelma & Louise - Zimmer himself has said he doesn't want to release it, which is a shame. There is a fairly decent boot out there though...[sm=whistle.gif]

& I guess 'affordable' is a flexible thing, but Big Trouble is still available from a number of places:
Screen Archives
MovieMusic
Amazon

I'm waiting for a complete (or expanded) The Hunt for Red October myself! [:)]

Hi Bud. I didn't know about the MM2 original tapes being lost (shame! I'm s'posed t'be the Numero Uno Road Warrior Fan!) but I agree that perhaps a re-recording could be a possibility; TADLOW did a cracking job with their THUNDERDOME release.

btw Bud - thanks again for helping me out with that FIST OF THE NORTHSTAR CD - it's one of my most prized soundtracks now

AIR FORCE ONE.A complete version of this Jerry Goldsmith classic is one of my holy grails. Its one of his very best action scores and only a rather pathetic 30 mins or so of the music is represented on the varese cd.

Other faourites that i would immediately stump up the cash for are..

Under Siege 2(Basil Poiledouris)

Star Treks First Contact,Insurrection, and Nemesis(Jerry Goldsmith)

First Knight(Jerry goldsmith)

The Shadow(Jerry Goldsmith)

Seeing a pattern here?[;)]

ABSOLUTELY! Goldsmith was The Master. I'm completely with you on the AIR FORCE ONE score darth - the version available is seriously shortened.

I know this isn't quite what you're looking for but there's recording sessions bootlegs of First Contact and Insurrection 'out there' that aren't too hard to find... Sound quality on both is superb, although obviously they still tend to be mp3s and I know that's an issue for some people. It's entirely possible that they'll receive official releases at some point - Wrath Of Kahn and Search For Spock both arrived with little fanfare, after all. The specialist soundtrack labels seem to work very much under the radar, so it's always nice when an elusive gem just appears without warning.

BudBaxter: I hope Young Sherlock Holmes does get released again, the complete score is wonderful. A genuine edition of the Intrada set is hard to find, as there were only 500 of them pressed, and rumours suggesting that only about 100 of these were ever offered for general sale. Therefore, there's lots of fakes in circulation, hardly surprising as a sealed original can sell for upwards of $200. As usual, there are unofficial alternatives of recording sessions, with variations on the Intrada version and even a 4CD set.

My own wishlist would feature an expanded edition of James Horner's Willow soundtrack. The CD edition is great but there's loads of music in the film that's never been available, even on bootleg or as a DVD rip. For the sake of completion, I wouldn't mind a complete version of Basil Poledouris's Conan The Destroyer either. Prometheus / Tadlow Music recently released a spectacular complete re-recording of Conan The Barbarian so maybe they could do the same for the sequel (I appreciate that it's very much a lesser work but some of it is pretty good).

Ghostbusters II the score by Randy Edelman would be nice.
The Pecemaker by Hans Zimmer as well.[8|]

Not sure if you can still get it somewhere but I've had it for years. Try eBay.

Spaldron -> RE: SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (20/3/2011 4:09:15 PM)

Rocky IV. The full score as it is in the film with Vince Di Cola's music mixed in with the rock music. These are currently only available seperately. They did something similar with the Transformers The Movie sountrack although I think thats a bootleg.

Oh and The Monster Squad ost.

Intrada have released both the Rocky IV score & The Monster Squad.

You're not going to get either of them any better than that! [:)]

Rock! I'm bagging that Monster Squad score. As for Rocky IV its still not the complete score. May have to bootleg it.

THE MONSTER SQUAD is one of my favourite scores. Just wish the "Rock Until you Drop" song was on the CD too. Oh well, it's still cool.

BelfastBoy -> RE: SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (23/3/2011 10:34:04 AM)

Here's one that'll probably never see the light of day, but I'd love to hear it out of curiosity: Howard Shore's rejected score for Peter Jackson's King Kong.

NCC1701A -> RE: SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (23/3/2011 12:16:03 PM)

I would like Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

It was released, but looks to be out of print at the moment.

Screen Archives have a single copy available: http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/10239/WES-CRAVENS-NEW-NIGHTMARE/

giddig -> RE: SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (28/8/2012 11:07:21 PM)

The Ghostbusters 2 score would be ace. I may even settle for the bootleg with sound effects if it ever turned up.

giddig -> RE: SOUNDTRACK WISH LIST (Why haven't these been released yet?!) (28/8/2012 11:09:55 PM)

...and a FULL Sneakers score would be nice as there's a couple of bits that are not on the actual release that are great like in the scene where they all break into PlayTronics and they have to time the gardener/toilet/lift distraction just right.
