That's fine, pimp your choices as much as you like. [:)]

I'm going to have to split your list  into male and female choices because I want to do individual male and female lists for films. No big deal, I'll just take your top male performance as number one for the male list, top female as number one for the female.

On that note, thank you to Movie Addict for your list, only just checked the email. [:)]

Well I'm not sure it's a 50/50 ratio, if that's OK. Not because I prefer male performances, it's just been quite a male dominated industry for years.

swordsandsandals -> RE: Performances Poll (20/2/2011 8:28:14 PM)

1.Takashi Shimura – Ikiru
2.Martin Sheen – Badlands
3.Sissy Spacek – Badlands
4.Peter Sellers – Dr Strangelove
5.Q'Orianka Kilcher – The New World
6.Alec Guinness – Bridge on the River Kwai
7.Mieko Harada – Ran
8.Tatsuya Nakadai – Ran
9.Jim Caviezel – The Thin Red Line
10.Sam Shepard – Days of Heaven

Yes, it's Malick heavy but I assure you it evens out in the rest of the 90. And I don't think anyone would contest that they are all damn good performances.

Yeah, that's fine. [:)]

And what a shock that Badlands has two performances in your top 10. [:D]

It's not blind fanboyishness though - they are two genuinely superb performances.

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (20/2/2011 10:10:17 PM)

They are, they're both on my longlists.

swordsandsandals -> RE: Performances Poll (20/2/2011 10:38:05 PM)

What about Shimura?

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (20/2/2011 10:43:06 PM)

Shimura is in my top five of all time, so he's assured a place no matter what.

Although I am a little perturbed that we've agreed on something.

swordsandsandals -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 4:34:40 PM)

I may also put Martin Sheen's performance in Apocalypse Now in my list. What an actor.

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 6:05:17 PM)

Yeah, Apocalypse Now is in contention for my list too. He gave an amazingly creepy performance as a paedophile in The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane.

Seriously - Badlands, Apocalypse Now and Jed Bartlet. What a man. Shame about his son.

What's wrong with Emilio Estevez?

Ferris Bueller > The Breakfast Club is all I'm saying.

Rinc -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 11:37:18 PM)

You poor, young fool, you got them the wrong way round!

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 11:41:33 PM)

They both suck, does it really matter? [:D]

Pigeon Army -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 11:43:10 PM)

EMILIO ESTEVEZ MUST BE NUMBER ONE IN THIS POLL FOR HIS ROLE IN FREEJACK

THE CAMPAIGN STARTS HERE

(MAY BE A CAMPAIGN TO SPITE RAWLINSON)

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (21/2/2011 11:50:58 PM)

Haven't seen your votes for the horror list yet. I'm expecting Iron Man, The Care Bears and that episode of In the Night Garden where Iggle-Piggle thinks he's lost his red blanky

He was too scared of that episode to truly appreciate the acting in it though. He was hiding behind a cushion most of the time.

Rebenectomy -> RE: Performances Poll (22/2/2011 8:21:26 PM)

I'm working on my lists at the mo (pleased to find the deadline has been extended as I would have been pushing it). Might have to check out Takashi Shimura in Ikiru before I finish of the male list - it's been on my to watch list, along with Lawrence of Arabia, which I'd like to get seen also, for ages.

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (22/2/2011 8:22:26 PM)

If you're going to be checking out O'Toole anyway, can I recommend The Ruling Class?

I will, I'm all about checking out tool.

In that case, can I recommend Jamie Gillis in Water Power? [:D]

Harry Lime -> RE: Performances Poll (22/2/2011 8:51:29 PM)

O'Toole is incredible. Have you seen Venus from a few years back? A small film, but he's brilliant in that. And My Favourite Year is a massive guilty pleasure of mine too. And then there is his Henry II double header of Becket and The Lion in Winter too. The man is a living legend.

Just avoid High Spirits. It is dreck of the lowest order imaginable.

Rebenectomy -> RE: Performances Poll (22/2/2011 8:55:42 PM)

High Spirits almost made it on the tail end of my horror list, I know it's shite but I remember loving it as a kid. And speaking of shite I loved when I was a kid O'Toole in this role is very dear to my heart...

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (22/2/2011 8:57:55 PM)

Of course I hope everyone is going to vote for O'Toole in Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell.

Qwerty Norris -> RE: Performances Poll (24/2/2011 9:37:26 PM)

Is the deadline for this still the end of Feb? Would quite like to do this one too....[:)]

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (24/2/2011 9:41:20 PM)

It's been pushed back to mid April, so you have plenty of time. [:)]

Qwerty Norris -> RE: Performances Poll (24/2/2011 9:42:31 PM)

Even better...count me in.

rawlinson -> RE: Performances Poll (25/3/2011 1:32:01 PM)

Just bumping this to see if everyone is still happy with the mid-April deadline?
