Deviation -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (7/6/2010 3:02:42 PM)

I cannot be sure on 1 (it's Nolan, this man made The Prestige) but I agree completely on 2.

will1000 -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (7/6/2010 11:10:33 PM)

The new Twilight film (but that pretty much goes without saying!)

Whatever Tarantino's doing next.

Seconded. He had Inglourious Basterds knocking around for years and that turned out to be a bloated affair which would have been better served by the younger, snappier Tarantino of the early 90s. Now he's completely out of fresh ideas I reckon it'll be a while before we hear from him again in a directorial capacity. In the meantime I can see him plastering his name all over whatever dire trash Eli Roth decides to subject us to next and probably hijack some of Robert Rodriguez's bright ideas and drag them down to his level just as he did with Grindhouse.

Rant over.

BOHEMIANBOB -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 12:09:25 AM)

Good rant!
I agree, when will even his avid fans see through this guy?

I still look forward to new Tarantinto stuff but no where near as much as I used to. Think he has the skills to produce good work but needs to grow a pair when it comes to editing, pacing and also realise not all his characters need to have snappy pop culture laden speeches but you know actually talk like real people from time to time!

Back to the topic I'm pretty sure Knight and Day is going to blow!

tftrman -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 11:11:15 AM)

I thought Inglorious Basterds was brilliant and actually has me anticipating "A Film By Quentin Tarantino" again.

Agree about Knight And Day, that's going to be shite.

Marwood -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 4:14:32 PM)

Tarantino kind of lost me with Kill Bill 2 and then Death Proof made me question if it was even the same Quentin Tarantino - although I do appreciate DP was supposed to be trashy.

Basterds however I thought was very good, pretty disjointed and overindulgent but entertaining regardless. It's not a patch on his 90s output but it's restored enough faith for me to have some interest in his next film whatever and whenever that may be.

I do agree that he could do with a strong voice in the editing room to talk him into better pacing and less indulgent monologues though.

Fab Tmobile -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 5:26:20 PM)

I really want Nicolas Cage to come through with Sorcerer's Apprentice, especially after Kick-Ass and Bad Lieutenant.

Sphinx -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 5:32:19 PM)

Sorcerer's apprentice - I want it to be good I do but it's feels a little off.

Tron Legacy - There's a least two generations who knows sod all about the film and won't make head nor tail of it!

chewbacasnapsak -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (8/6/2010 9:51:29 PM)

i heard they are gonna finally make a big budget version of Lord of the Rings, but you know its gonna suck donkey balls

But..but, it's in 3D!!! Surely this is a trademark of quality!

Epiphany Demon -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (9/6/2010 12:00:39 AM)

Once again I'm going to state my opinion and say that Inglorious Basterds is in the top 3 films of last decade, no doubt.

And also, there aren't really any anticipated films that I think will suck barring the obvious (Twilight achem). Inception looks fucking awesome.

Sad Professor -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (9/6/2010 12:08:01 AM)

Predators is going to suck like one of those suckers they put on cows to suck out the milk.

noooo don't say that i'm hoping this will be good, its got adrien 'i'd lick his nose and fond of his acting talents' brody
and shane vendrell from the shield.come on!!

JoeyPottr -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (9/6/2010 6:49:59 AM)

The Green Hornet Seth Rogen is no Van Johnson
I kind of enjoyed the A-Team looks kind of cheesy
Inception looks kind of out there who knows though
Machette looks I don't know, (the whole Jessica Alba yelling we didn't cross the border the border crossed us thing she can't pull off now Cheech Marin, or Danny Trejo would sound cool saying that but she's not enough of a badass)
Knight and Day, yes it looks good but I can't get past Tom Cruise's manic Scientology rants anymore and just watch him on film.

Marwood -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (9/6/2010 9:36:01 AM)

I think Knight and Day will probably be quite successful but utter pants - Cruise and Diaz have lost a lot of their power and the trailer (while kind of fun) isn't showing anything new.

Interesting to see if it bombs because then it's a big blow against those two former biggest stars in Hollywood, then again Cruise does have that uncanny ability to float from one pot of money to another....

ianthorpe -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (9/6/2010 8:55:38 PM)

Twilight and all versions of said films in the future.

Transformers 3

Any future Indiana Jones films if they follow the same approach as the last film. Not sure if I can even bring myself to going to watch it as crushing a blow as the last film was!.

Sorry Snake-Eyes but the 80s is long gone and The Exendable looks full of what I hate about modern action films, not fun at all.

Actually, looking at hollywoods output over the last few years,it seems the eighties are very much alive.Die Hard,Rambo,Indiana Jones are all 80s franchises that have made a comeback. We have remakes of eighties horror movies like The Hitcher and Nightmare on Elm street and lets not forget the incoming A-Team adaptation.

Yeah and they are all terrible, basically my whole point- just because it says an 80s franchise name on the poster, doesnt mean the spirit or quality of that title is included. Total shite.

Biggus -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (13/6/2010 9:00:59 PM)

A Nightmare On Elm Street: Part 2 3D.

Then again that's just stating the obvious.

is ANYONE anticipating this...?

BOHEMIANBOB -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (14/6/2010 12:42:55 AM)

No!
Wasn't the original part 5 or 6 in "3-D".
Now the re-make part 2 is 3-D???
Surely that's reason enough to call time on a franchised franchise??

TheEmpireStrikesJack -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (14/6/2010 5:38:32 PM)

What ever Tim Burton's got lined up next I s'pose really - it pains me to think that Alice in Wonderland stands as one of the ten highest-grossing films of all time [sm=rolleyes10.gif] .

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (which was part six) had a ten minute (give or take) scene towards the end in 3-D. And it was shite.

lol!
I remember going to see it,and most of the audience kept their 3D glasses on for the whole movie!
Sadly, the quality of most 3D today hasn't moved on that much from that!

Overmind -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (15/6/2010 4:50:09 AM)

Tintin anyone...?

Just like every new Bob Zemekis film - everyone involved talks about the advancing of effects and the future of cinema but the film underperforms because no-one really gives a shit.

I'm waiting on completed footage before thinking about seeing it but at the moment it's way, way off my radar. In fact other than Empire I don't think Tintin is really gaining much interest from anyone right now.

I think the 'anticipation' is stemming from the Speilberg / Jackson work ethic and the possible 'results' of that and not particuarly the actual film.

lukeyboy -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (18/6/2010 12:42:40 PM)

Dunno if it's really that "anticipated" but Jonah Hex will suck balls - count on it!

If Wonder Woman ever gets made - that will also stink!

Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides will be more of the same 'ol shit we've seen three times already.

But Inception? Whoever thinks this film will suck needs their head examined. I'm positive this film will have the same sort of impact The Matrix did when it first came out!

filmburner30 -> RE: Big anticipated films you predict will suck (18/6/2010 2:27:08 PM)

Jonah Hex looks like its going to blow big time
