Sky1? Really? I'm impressed they'll be showing all the blood, tits and ass at 10pm

I just hope that Sky1 dont mess it up or anything Bravo treated the show well showing at least 3 repeats.

Watched this last night and it was awesome. I missed the characters and it was good to see most of there.

It will be good to see how all the characters got to where they were in Blood and Sand. It did take some time to get used to the new setting but it was a good start and the ending was good. Cant wait for next week.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (28/3/2011 10:00:52 AM)

Absolutely fantastic start! I'd forgotten just how much I'd missed this [:D]

I watched it as the wife was making dinner and after about 10 minutes I heard her call from the kitchen "What on earth are you watching? They've mentioned cocks at least five times already!"

Only Spartacus! [:D]

theoriginalcynic -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (29/3/2011 2:18:01 PM)

Jupiter's cock!

I just had to... excellent series so far.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (31/3/2011 9:17:45 AM)

Just caught up with the second episode, fantastic stuff. I think I'm most enjoying watching Crixus being moulded into the champion we know he'll become...

Funkyrae -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (7/4/2011 5:24:04 PM)

It's seeing how Doctore is learning his craft that I'm enjoying. Going from a 'brother' to a trainer and feeling all the pressures of that on him.

That poor slave girl though.

Can't see Batiatus senior being around for much longer!

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (13/4/2011 8:55:45 AM)

Another great episode, it's a shame this run is only six episodes long as it will be missed....

Cruisecontroller -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (13/4/2011 4:58:24 PM)

High production values aside it does seem very repetative. Homo erotic gladatorial fights followed by backstabbing of others verbally or physically with swearing followed by an orgy followed by more homo erotic gladatorial fights and some backstabbing.... I can`t say I like most of the characters apart from the black gladiator and a few of the other heroic gladiators. Find I`m just watching for the sex which is quite good [;)] I suppose it was like that in those days quite hedonistic and bloody.

jediwarrior -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (15/4/2011 9:14:59 AM)

Really got into this series now, shame only 2 more episodes to go.

How is it homo erotic? All i'm seeing is limbs being hacked off and blood everywhere!!!!

Fantastic series though!!

Why fix something that isn't broken? [:D] Are you not enjoying seeing the back stories of the characters we saw in Blood & Sand? I'm really enjoying seeing how everything played out...

superdan -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (15/4/2011 12:10:42 PM)

Tullias is an absolute bastard. Proper boo-hiss villain.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (15/4/2011 12:14:23 PM)

It took me ages to realise it was Max from Neighbours, was bugging me for about three weeks but I couldn't be bothered to look and then it just came to me....

He is a bastard though you're right! [:D]

The gladiators in there skimpy thongs and flexing there muscles I find erotic being gay not the actual killing and hacking off limbs part. I suppose though the bloody bits are the main parts.

Never saw the first series as when it was on I didn`t have Bravo but I thought as this is a prequel I could start here. It`s ok but I find pretty much the same thing every week but that`s cool for you all as you like that.To be expected I suppose I just don`t really care about most of the characters or find them that interesting which for me is a problem. I`ll keep watching to see how things pan out though.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (16/4/2011 11:45:30 AM)

So you've had the whole of Blood & The Sand ruined by the first five minutes of Gods of the Arena [8D]

I think Gods of Arena relies heavily on what we've already learnt about the characters from Blood & The Sand and although you're right in it being a prequel and I'm sure it's quite easy to watch first, I do think that a significant part of Gods of The Arena won't mean as much as if you'd seen BATS first. If you've already seen BATS then you're already emotionally invested in the characters....

Why has the first five minutes of Gods revealed something thats a major spoiler for Blood and Sand? Your probably right about the characters not meaning as much to me as I didn`t see the other series first so I suppose its a bit like missing series one has affected my enjoyment of its prequel even though its the start of the story.

Funkyrae -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (17/4/2011 12:16:57 AM)

Major spoiler? That's putting it lightly [;)]

MI Cruise -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (17/4/2011 11:32:08 AM)

well I guess if you havent seen Blood and Sand then the spoiler at the start of GotA doesnt mean that much. Although it is better watching it in order. Sky1 are gonna show Blood and Sand on 2nd May for those that missed it last year.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (17/4/2011 1:33:19 PM)

All the major plot twists are revealed [:-]

Yeah, that is true, Sky1 should have aired Spartacus Blood and Sand first then. Airing it afterwards also makes sense so people can watch it in chronological order but it's not worth it if you have the ending of Blood and Sand ruined in the first 5 mins.

Funkyrae -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (17/4/2011 10:27:21 PM)

Well, yeah. If it weren't for that pesky cancer that bothered Andy Whitfield meaning a prequel rather than a sequel had to be filmed things would be just peachy.

Cruisecontroller -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (18/4/2011 3:21:12 PM)

I don`t suppose anyone can say what it is? Then again it will be obvious when I see Blood and Sand when it comes on afterwards.

Well the opening sequence of Gods of the Area showed what happen in Blood and Sand

Cruisecontroller -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (18/4/2011 3:50:35 PM)

Blood and Sand happens afterwards though?[&:]

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (18/4/2011 3:54:56 PM)

If you can't remember the first few minutes of Gods Of The Arena then just forget about it, you haven't had your viewing spoiled.....how you could miss it is quite something else.

Blood & The Sand DVD is available to pre-order on for £17.99 at Zavvi, I'm tempted but I think I'm going to go for the Blu-Ray when it drops in price a little.

Cruisecontroller -> RE: Spartacus Gods of the Arena UK Speed (18/4/2011 3:59:57 PM)

It wouldn`t have meant anything to me as I haven`t seen Blood and Sand that`s why. I`ll look again on Youtube.
