The story is all over the place, with badly cut scenes and off kilter pace, but the final brawl where the hero manages to pull huge spikes out of his hands after being crucified is cracking stuff. My only qualm is the Richard Moll, fantastic as the monstrous Xusia, disappears for most of the movie. This unfortunate sadistic torturer soon gets his face carved off. Hell, even Conan couldn't manage that in his crucificion scene. I love the first Conan movie and quite like the second,but I agree with you, I've always felt that this movie is far closer to the style and spirit of Robert E Howard and Lee Horsley's hero far closer to Howard's Conan then Arnie.

This was the first video that my family ever watched on our top decker VHS player in the early 80's. Naturally as a young lad I was bragging to my pals about the quantity of gore and tit on display. However I didn't know they had baby oil in the days of sinbad? I rate this as my favourite of the sinbad movies and remember seeing this and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1978) d/bill in Isle of Man cinema when I was knee high in 1981. Great memories. Director, Michael Cimino teams up two greats (Eastwood and Bridges) in a fast moving heist movie with a surprisingly downbeat ending. This has so many great scenes, especially the one with the bloke (who looks suspiciously like the redneck nutter that buggered poor Ned Beatty in Deliverance) that keeps his car boot is crammed with white rabbits. He then proceeds to blast them with a shotgun. George Kennedy is in impressive form as the bad tempered and psychotic Red, who forms part of Eastwood's robbery team. However the movie is stolen by Bridges as the young, likable thief, Lightfoot. 8/10
