So many films which had great potential to become crackers but became lost on the way...

Steven Spielberg's "Night Skies" and Alfred Hitchcock's "Kaleidoscope" spring to mind

A John Rambo and John Matrix team up movie.Would have been the greatest buddy movie ever.Expected on screen deaths..infinite!

Deviation -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 12:05:56 AM)

Breaking Dawn directed by Lars Von Trier.

will1000 -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 12:12:46 AM)

After the recent Bad Lieutenant film, I think a Herzog Werner remake of Beverly Hills Cop would be awesome! Although it will never be made [:(]

grucl -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 2:22:35 PM)

Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon
Paul Verhoeven's Crusade (starring Arnold Schwarzenegger)

Marwood -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 2:44:20 PM)

Sherlock Holmes and The Vengeance of Dracula.

Just the title gave me goosebumps when it was announced years ago but it slipped into development hell quite some time ago. I think it was supposed to act as a sequel to Bram Stoker's Dracula (somehow The Count still isn't quite dead) and would team up The Harkers and Van Helsing with Holmes and Watson in London.

Sounds hokey I know but I read a script review (maybe The Stax Report - long, long time ago) that said it was written seriously with references to Holmes' stories and the Dracula myths. Last time I heard anything about it was with Chris Columbus (pre-Harry Potter) as a producer and maybe WB as a studio but then got shelved.

Then again maybe it could have been total dreck - I remember when Aliens Vs Predator seemed like a good idea...

BlueBalls -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 2:55:22 PM)

Darren Aronofsky's remake of Lethal Weapon starring Daniel Day Lewis as Murtaugh and Rosario Dawson as Riggs.

It really is a shame Lewis decided to move to Siberia for six years to live with the Tuva and learn the ways of their throat singing because if that had all come together, it would have been a damn fine film.

Drone -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 3:17:40 PM)

I imagine True Lies 2 would have been epic.

Also, Alien 3 with Cameron at the helm, Bishop & co surviving and lots more Aliens.

AngryDude92 -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 4:33:28 PM)

It may be because I'm young and horny but
Stanley Kubrick's Blue Movie
porn made by the master, what's the problem.

Ridley Scott's I Am Legend staring Strong Arnie

TheSpleen -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (19/3/2010 8:34:55 PM)

Tonight, He comes. The original screenplay for what became the awful Hancock.

spark1 -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (20/3/2010 12:44:37 PM)

theunwashedmass -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (22/3/2010 6:01:45 PM)

Wasn't Orson Welles planning a Batman film at one point?  Or did I dream it?

kathryn2 -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (23/3/2010 1:33:57 PM)

A Terry Gilliam adaptation of Good Omens, by Pratchett & Gaiman.

[:(] What a loss!

Sphinx -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (23/3/2010 1:46:25 PM)

The last unicorn, weta produced, live-action, christopher lee returning, the ed bull looking great in sketches then.......nothing, it would have been GREAT!!

bobatim -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (23/3/2010 2:09:17 PM)

Not a whole film per say, but apparently HR Giger produced some production designs for Batman Forever (think it was mostly the Batmobile), that were eventually rejected. Imagine how that film could've looked!!

chewbacasnapsak -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (23/3/2010 10:04:33 PM)

Cronenbergs Total Recall with Richard Dreyfus
Lucas had David Lynch on his shortlist for Return of the Jedi
I know he made Indy instead but I always wanted to see Spielbergs Bond film
Quentins Die Hard 4 sounded alright too.

It was an online hoax by Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar. Did love the idea of Gregory Peck as Bruce Wayne though. [:D]

Just found a concept sketch is online - to be honest, it's not up to his usual standards. I'd heard years back that Giger sued WB because the design that was eventually used was derived from his and not credited, but I don't see much similarity between them.

will1000 -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (24/3/2010 12:22:22 AM)

Quentin Tarantino's Casino Royale...I reckon that would have been awesome and VERY different from the one we got!

What was he thinking?! Had he seen Batman?!? How would this concept have fitted into the Batman universe?! It just looks like his usual stuff..the Alien Mobile!

hmm... others spring to mind....

MAD MAX IV - Miller AND Gibson

SPIDER-MAN - Written & Directed by James Cameron

Leningrad: The 900 Days - Sergio Leone's planned epic was set to be an American/Italian/Soviet co-production starring Robert DeNiro

You're right, it would have been very different, but I like it as it stands :)

As for SPIDER-MAN - Written & Directed by James Cameron... not so sure

Dirty Hartigan -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (24/3/2010 4:56:28 PM)

His Dark Materials scripted by Tom Stoppard and directed by Terry Gilliam.

HughesRoss -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (24/3/2010 5:27:50 PM)

Finchers "TRUE VISION" of Alien 3..........

Ghidorah -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (24/3/2010 7:38:00 PM)

Star wars episode 1, 2 and 3.

Sadly Lucas didn't want to risk making them just in case they turned out to be bad. It's a shame because I would love to see Yoda's apprentice Obi fighting along side Anikan in the clone wars.[&o]

Beno -> RE: The Best Film Never Made (25/3/2010 12:53:27 PM)

Why has there never been a Biopic movie made about Laurel and Hardy ?

Yeah, I read Cameron's "scriptment" when it first surfaced years ago and it reminded me of True Lies Cameron rather than Terminator,T2, Avatar and Aliens Cameron. Not bad as such but can't really see it would have been any better than Raimi's efforts, apart from being less cheesy and earnest anyway.

Now Robert Rodriguez's Spider-Man would have been...well, something. He was being considered by Sony before Raimi was picked. I wonder who Danny Trejo and Salma Hayek would have played [;)]
