Sexual Harassment Panda -> Portal 2 (6/3/2010 6:26:44 PM)

It's been a long time coming (the announcment not the game) but Portal 2 has finally been announced for release this Christmas.

I for one can't wait, the whole dynamic of the game has great potential for expansion and improvement, and the first was about as good as gaming gets.

Due out for 360 and PC at Christmas.

Wonder how long it'll be seeing as it's a standalone title? Or will it be cheap if it's not long?

borstal -> RE: Portal 2 (6/3/2010 7:57:33 PM)

Can't wait. Pure gaming.

James2183 -> RE: Portal 2 (6/3/2010 7:58:52 PM)

It better be short, otherwise they will have a lot to answer for as to why HL:Episode 3 has yet to be given a release date

You want a short game because a different game has taken forever to come out?

The reason HL2: Ep3 is late is because the half life team have been porting steam and the Source engine to Mac, which will be out soon. The developers of Nerbacular Drop (the game Portal was based on) were bought by Valve, they're who make the Portal games, this will have had little effect on Episode 3 other than Gabe and Kim helping with writing and direction.

Whatever happened to that? Enough of this L4D/portal/team fortress rubbish. I want more Half Life.

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: Portal 2 (6/3/2010 9:21:08 PM)

If only someone had explained it 7 minutes before you asked! [:D]

I'm joking [:D]

I just want my Episode 3 [:(]

Scabby -> RE: Portal 2 (7/3/2010 11:19:02 AM)

I heard it is coming to PS3 as well...

paulyboy -> RE: Portal 2 (7/3/2010 12:44:58 PM)

The Eurogamer story has confirmed info from Valve's Doug Lombardi that it's due for PC and Xbox 360, no mention of a PS3 version. That said, I dare say a PS3 port will be farmed out to a third party at some point, much like The Orange Box was.

Peter Griffin -> RE: Portal 2 (7/3/2010 2:59:22 PM)

Loved Portal and can't wait for the sequel, i also love Half-Life and can't wait for Episode 3.

Not much to add apart from how much I loved the original, pure class!

Earlier this year Lombardi said no games will be going to PS3, maybe one day in the future if it ever seems viable to hire an in house team of dedicated PS3 developers, they won't use a third party after the failure of the Orange Box. He also said that this new in house team is unlikely/very far off. In other words, no Portal 2 for PS3.

Can't help but think M$ have a hand in that...

Nevermind, looks like I'm getting a 360 soon anyway [:D]

Harry Tuttle -> RE: Portal 2 (8/3/2010 7:33:14 PM)

Wasn't it Lombardi that said Valve would never develop a game in house for the PS3 because it was a pig to programme for?

I'm sure somebody at Valve said that a few months ago when questioned about the likelyhood of Left 4 dead coming out on PS3.

The PS3 is really finding it's feet now though so I expect that sentiment to be retracted in due course...

paulyboy -> RE: Portal 2 (18/8/2010 3:06:16 PM)

Release date confirmed (Click!), 9th February 2011.

directorscut -> RE: Portal 2 (18/8/2010 3:27:20 PM)

SHP you lied to me you bastard. My Christmas is ruined now. Thanks a lot you a-hole. [:(]

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: Portal 2 (18/8/2010 8:36:44 PM)

Awesome, Stephen Merchant's doing voice work for the game, should hopefully be just as witty as the first then.

Very intersting news.  I hope this is the start of even greater PSN/Steam integration.

lev821 -> RE: Portal 2 (26/1/2011 9:18:28 AM)

The first game RULED, so more of the same is only to be welcomed. More cake please[:D]

borstal -> RE: Portal 2 (26/1/2011 10:00:58 AM)

Two different end credits too. They'll do well to be better than the end of the first game.

steflon -> RE: Portal 2 (18/4/2011 11:31:02 PM)

gettin proper excited about this, loved portal, its still my go to game when i dont know what to play, and after talkin to my new boss about it at blockbusters he said my discount there is automatic, BOOM

theres my weekend sorted!

vad3r -> RE: Portal 2 (19/4/2011 12:26:37 AM)

What is this whole Portal craze about? Isn't it just a puzzle game where you try to 'get to the finish line' on every level? Will there be any shooting ammo, a story, RPG elements?

Olaf -> RE: Portal 2 (19/4/2011 1:03:00 AM)

You get tomahawks when you get a kill streak going. It's great fun altogether.

vad3r -> RE: Portal 2 (19/4/2011 1:18:23 AM)

I don't like kill streaks as they remind me of COD. Are there any Mass Effect 2 elements in this game?
