HIM -> EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 10:03:24 AM)

OK I know what you're thinking; HIM's gone mad! It's way too early. We're still five months away from the World Cup! But hold on son, there's method to my madness. See the draw for qualifying took place today at 1100 GMT. And here's how it went down:

Group A:
Germany, Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan

Group B: Russia, Slovakia, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, FYR Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra

Group C: Italy, Serbia, NORTHERN IRELAND Slovenia, Estonia, Faroe Islands

Group D: France, Romania, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Belarus, Albania, Luxembourg

Group E: Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Moldova, San Marino

Group F: Croatia, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Georgia, Malta

Group G: ENGLAND,
Switzerland, Bulgaria, WALES, Montenegro

Group H: Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Cyprus, Iceland

Group I: Spain, Czech Republic, SCOTLAND Lithuania, Liechtenstein

There'll are 9 groups in total with 14 places up for grabs, with the co-hosts already through. The winner of each group goes through along with the best runner-up. Then the eight other runners-up go into a two legged play-off for the remaining four places.

So we've got Wales which will be a great atmosphere at both those games but overall it should be pretty plain sailing.

Scotland's draw could have been far worse, Spain are the best team in the world at the moment but Czech aren't the team they used to be and we should be able to get a good number of points. Group E looks interesting.

Pretty happy with Ireland's group I have to say.

Goodfella -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 2:24:29 PM)

That's a pretty interesting group for us, I don't think it'll be as easy as it looks.

Looking forward to England v Wales I have to say.

CORLEONE -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 2:28:21 PM)

Should piss it.

Goodfella -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 2:30:27 PM)

Should is a word commonly used with England and it's usually followed by the words but didn't.[:D]

CORLEONE -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 2:46:40 PM)

But now we have the key ingredient: CAPELLO.

Unless he wins the World Cup and signs off on a high, which I would accept [:D]

Goodfella -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (7/2/2010 2:50:21 PM)

If he does, I'd definitely consider Roy Hodgson for the job.

HIM -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (12/7/2010 10:12:10 AM)

So now that the World Cup is over, it's almost time for the EURO's. England have an easy group (where've we heard that before?!) but have some tough decisions ahead with regards to shaping a new squad. I'm firmly of the opinion that the so called Golden Generation should be disbanded and we should focus on youth. Yes, even if that means not progressing far in the EURO's or even failure to qualify for the tournament. We need to build up towards Brazil 2014, even at the expense of EURO 2012.

big dawg -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (12/7/2010 10:25:09 AM)

we're going to pump spain in the qualifiers. Villa v Stephen McManus....no probs

I agree entirely with this.

boaby -> RE: EURO 2012 - Poland and Ukraine (27/7/2010 12:28:23 AM)

Well this should be easy enough. Only one WC finalist this time round. Just remember 1984 lads, King Kenny, ken? Good pivo in Praha. Diddy teams, nae bother, nae like they usually cause us problems.

Besides, now we've a new unbeatable formation to use - 4-2-3-1. Whaddaya mean we've used it for donkeys? 4-5-1 innit.

Easy, dinna need centre-backs, naebdy plays strikers anymore.

The road to lifting the cup starts with a 0-1 win in Armenia with a majestic goal by wonderkid Keith Fahey. [image]http://www.empireonline.com/forum/micons/m6.gif[/image]
