Snake-Eyes -> The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 10:45:14 AM)

I wasn't too sure as to whether or not I should start this one in 'Favourites', anyway, seeing as how there seem to be more and more Marvel Comics-based films churned out now, I got to thinking of the ones that sort of slipped through, haven't been seen by the masses or were just never made.

so in brief, New World Pictures were at one point time set to make a SHE-HULK film starring Brigitte Nielsen! I guess they only got as far as some promo pics:

[image]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_27xZRVcQIsU/RtXU6U2hgTI/AAAAAAAABn8/z9bEEgTzobk/s400/LiveSheHulk.jpg[/image]

It was gonna be the third instalment of the Made-For-TV films starring Lou Ferrigno's HULK; previously there had been team-ups with THOR...

...and DAREDEVIL...

And does anyone remember before the X-MEN films? In 1996, New World Entertainment produced a BAD TV Pilot/Movie based on the (very popular at the time) X-spin-off Comic GENERATION X

Directed by Jack Sholder (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE). It was BAD.

More to come....

Deviation -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 10:55:17 AM)

What about those incredibly bad Fantastic Four and Captain America films that came out early nineties?

They were pretty bad.

Snake-Eyes -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 11:02:04 AM)

Before the combined efforts of the 'Ultimate' Marvel Universe and Samuel L. Jackson made a 'cool' Nick Fury, uber-twat David Hasselhoff gave it a shot -

[image]http://digilander.libero.it/davidhasselhoff/foto/nickfury/fury1.jpg[/image]

I was unlucky enough to sit through the first seven minutes of this TV-Movie when it was aired late one night on ITV1. I can't even begin to explain what a terrible sight it was.

Marwood -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 11:04:47 AM)

Don't forget the Dolph Lundgren Punisher as well - Snake I know you're a big Lundgren fan but that was garbage and he was pretty bad in the role. However the Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson ones weren't much better really.

Do the 70s Spider-Man TV movies count? They were awful but hilarious.

Quite right Deviation! THE FANTASTIC FOUR (New World again!)

This one was so bad it was never even officially released! Snake-Eyes saw a good quality bootleg of this on VHS and believe me it is bad beyond words. Michael Bailey played THE THING, he was more recently seen in the two new HILLS HAVE EYES films. The effects are so shoddy.... nowadays, a lot of the 'fan-made' shorts that make it onto YouTube look like ILM in comparison!

It was supposed to be tied in with the character's 50th Anniversary. I only saw about half an hour of it on video (this never got released 'In Theatres Everywhere') and guess what? It sucked.

The Hooded Man -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 11:26:56 AM)

The 70s Spider-Man only lasted one series because he was fighting common drug dealers and thugs but the show retained a cult following, the 90s cartoon actually drew Peter Parker as Nicholas Hammond who played him in the 70s series, which was basically Starsky and Hutch with superpowers.
The 1990 Captain America is The Dark Knight compared to the 2 TV movies starring Reb Brown as Cap in the late 70s, his costume is hilarious too.
I never knew about the She-Hulk with Brigitte Nielsen though. What about James Cameron's Spider-Man with Michael Biehn that was so close to getting off the ground, or the late 80s attempt by Albert Pyun to bring Spidey to the big screen, shudder.

Yeah, admittedly, I have a soft spot for THE PUNISHER. I know it was pretty bad and not that faithful to the comic but I like it as a B- Action flick.

I used to have these on video. I like the one where he goes to China and fights Triads!

Also, Nicholas Hammond was in the Sound of Music as one of the Von Trapp Kids - Fredrich, I believe.

I only found out about this one recently - another made-for-TV / Pilot, POWER PACK -

The comic was so-so back in the 80's. I never saw the film version. I'll have to try YouTube...

It was Hong Kong Timon - but yes, it was Awesome! THE DRAGON'S CHALLENGE...

Snake-Eyes -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (27/11/2009 12:25:03 PM)

DR. STRANGE! Nowadays, he's one of the characters that Guillermo Del Toro is said to be keen on bringing to the big screen.

[image]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/dc/Drstrangemovie.jpg[/image]

This bizarre-looking incarnation was created back in the 70's by Universal TV as a pilot for a series that never happened.

well, we all know that Cameron tried hard to make this happen but it never did - damn shame really, I reckon his version would have been awesome. speaking of which, I'm not certain if this is genuine or not but worth taking a look at -

Those thirty minutes are by far the best thing in the film.

the DL punisher was great, and he looked the part for certain.  I am one of the fans of punisher warzone as well.

Yay! A fellow fan!

What about the proposed Magneto film? The longer they leave it the older Ian McKellan looks, and I assume they want to use him in some capacity and hopefully without the freaky looking de-aging CGI FX!

I've got a mate who owns this because they love the Cap and is a little out of his mind.
Fuck me it's bad and then some.
(But the opening was pretty bad ass if memory serves)

I quite liked the first half hour or so when it was set in WWII but once they got to "modern day" it went downhill faster than Eddie the Eagle.

Oh wow! MAN-THING! yes, interestingly enough, this one was a 2005 TV film; one would think that by that point MARVEL had enough power to at least push some more time, effort and budget into it. I was a big fan of the 70's MAN-THING comics and it was a shame it ended up like this.

Edward Nygma -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (28/11/2009 1:28:03 PM)

What about this little nugget?

I'd see this short any day over the second Fantastic Four movie lol

Snake-Eyes -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (28/11/2009 3:36:52 PM)

I remember reading about the SILVER SURFER short way back when. a good liile ambitious fan-film I suppose.

It's a bit odd that he'd come help get a kids toy back from bullies when there is so much violence in the world!

I thought that he wanted our world to be eaten by Galactus. The bastard.

Who's to say that those very bullies wouldn't grow up to be the cause of the end of mankind as we know it? Or that the kid's toy wasn't actually a tripe A Bomb in disguise?

Is it just me, or does The Hoff actually look quite good as Nick Fury?

Shifty Bench -> RE: The 'Other' Marvel Movies (1/5/2012 5:55:25 PM)

Nope, in that photo, he looks pretty cool. The problem is, though, he can't act tough at all. In fact, he can't really act anything at all [:D]
