Calsterman -> Warcraft (22/7/2009 7:15:51 AM)

To be fair there were Warcraft games prior to World of Warcraft (three in fact) and they all had quite strong stories. My issue is how can you make this film different to Lord of the Rings and all the while make it good? Well if anyone can do it Raimi probably can.

Flapflop -> Arthas (22/7/2009 7:51:03 AM)

The defintely must do the storyline of Prince Arthas. The human paladin, heir to the throne of lordaeron, who was lured into becoming an evil undead death knight thinking he could save mankind by taking a (cursed) sword. He then became general for the spirit of the darklord The Lich King (The Sauron of the Warcraft universe, who in older times was an orc shaman, destroyed and used as a pawn by demons and now resting in a frozen shard), and conquered the world. When the spirit of the Lich King was threatened by the night elf demon hunter Illidan he came to the rescue, only to break free from the Lich King mind grip and become the new Lich King himself by destroying the ice shard, take his helmet aka his power.

Lil' Jack Crowley -> Never played WOW (22/7/2009 8:33:16 AM)

But I did play Warcraft 1+2 and think that no Warcraft movie would be complete without the inclusion of randomly exploding sheep, mwahaha!

tyro -> There should be a cameo from... (22/7/2009 8:46:51 AM)

...LEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYY!!!!!

End.

sowasred2012 -> OI! (22/7/2009 9:48:21 AM)

What about Evil Dead 4?! Come on.

steveg66 -> For God's sake don't cast Jeremy Irons? (22/7/2009 9:51:42 AM)

Will it be as good as Dungeons and Dragons though? Or even Eragon? And I am being sarcastic.

Snake-Eyes -> I see... (22/7/2009 9:56:46 AM)

...well, I seem to recall reading that Mr. Raimi was set to film SPIDER-MAN 4 and 5 back-to-back? maybe I'm mistaken. oh well, this pretty much guarantees no more Evil Dead films.

adambatman82 -> RE: Sam Raimi Enters World Of Warcraft (22/7/2009 10:44:34 AM)

This is kinda logical considering he wanted to do The Hobbit. I'm excited by the concept, and lets face it, another Evil Dead was a disaster waiting to happen.

alabama worley -> WOW (22/7/2009 12:06:13 PM)

Well this could be good if Raimi's involved, though personally Felicia Day of Buffy fame and the online series the GUild should be in it , which also leads me to Empire's sweeping generalisation that WOW and Warcraft are played solely by grown men , we girls play it too :(,

OddCinema -> RE: WOW (22/7/2009 12:27:59 PM)

Ohhhhh... crap.

Oriainarama -> Role Models (22/7/2009 12:47:44 PM)

If its half as funny as Role Models count me in.

hughjass -> RE: Classic Hero's Journey tale? (22/7/2009 12:54:32 PM)

Brilliant!

carter35 -> 12 Million Subscribers (22/7/2009 3:00:21 PM)

That's a lot of fans. I doubt that a single film can satisfy all of their expectations. It will be interesting to see what sort of reception it gets when it comes out.

RoboMan24 -> Good luck with the screenplay! Haha! (22/7/2009 3:12:46 PM)

... and: yuck!

Tyrael -> Yay! (22/7/2009 4:15:28 PM)

I can see Bruce Campbell bellowing the immortal lines "LEEEEEROY JENKINS!!!"

John Firth -> RE: Yay! (22/7/2009 4:37:52 PM)

As long as there's the sound of grown men crying in the background, as their characters get massacred.

Bluehawk -> Arthas (22/7/2009 4:56:07 PM)

Screw WoW, WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos is the game they should make a movie about.

Kalielyn -> Hmm (22/7/2009 6:26:36 PM)

This could be interesting... Will they side with the Alliance (BOOO!!) or Horde (WOOO!!!) as neither are technically the bad guys.

To Tyreal, I know what you mean, LEEEEEEROY!!!!

Knight of Fury -> (22/7/2009 7:06:54 PM)

well since we won't see his 'Hobbit,' i'm really glad Raimi is doing some fantasy, and this one should be chock full of battle scenes. nice.

FlangeBags -> Well I'll be... (22/7/2009 9:12:43 PM)

Interesting news indeed. This has raised my expectations from "This will definitely suck" to "There is a slight chance that this might not be total crap".
I am cautiously optimistic.

Also, for the Horde!

Inca -> 12 million... (22/7/2009 11:12:20 PM)

but 2 million selling gold.

Sure this will be commercially successful, but I have very little hope for it being an actual decent film. This film already feels like it going to be like a 'Rogue', seems cool but will just sap us on the heads leaving us sore and unamused

bbbbeeeennnn -> They won't get a cent from the built-in fan base, (22/7/2009 11:56:48 PM)

because they'll be too busy playing warcraft at home and will probably end up illegaly downloading it so they don't have to stand up.

westda -> WoW movie? (23/7/2009 12:45:21 AM)

Is this movie definitely based on WoW? or could it be based on one of the RTS games or one of the novels? Everyone reports it as the WoW movie but have they decided that yet? Its just tiled 'Warcraft' so why are all the headlines 'Raimi signs for WoW movie'?

DihBot -> (23/7/2009 5:12:53 PM)

I agree with Bluehawk. I think they should do a trilogy based on the story of Arthas (WC III Reign of Chaos, Frozen Throne and a third chapter). In my opinion, that is by far the best lore in the Warcraft universe. If done well, it could be what the Star Wars Prequels should have been.

Web Head -> Hilarious! (23/7/2009 6:08:36 PM)

All i can do is laugh! This is the director who managed to fuck up one of the best loved comic characters of all time by paying no attention to original source material and now they want to give him WoW? this is gonna be funny. I cant wait to see what 12 million angry WoW fans do if he fucks this up aswell

Overmind -> RE: Hilarious! (24/7/2009 9:52:22 AM)

The Warcraft universe is so heavy inspired by the world of Tolkien, so imo the biggest problem is making it original.
Staying true to the lore the fans will be happy, but to the rest of the world it will be a LOTR clone.
Heck... It might be a LOTR clone in the eyes of the WOWfans as well.

This is not an easy task.

For the Aliance.

Pelle -> Huh? (28/7/2009 10:31:00 AM)

Movie based on role-playin game is the most perfect paradox...
