Isn't that a trademark of MB Games? You know, pull the hamster out of the arse, take the cockral from the mouth. That sort of thing?

I just got the first one for £7.98 at GAME. I've never played it before. Worth it?

Hell yeah.

I wish I could play Mass Effect for the first time again.

Hell yeah. Great game and a great price. Just make sure you take your time with it, soak it all up and attempt as many of the side-missions as possible, because as good as the main storyline is, it's not the longest game in the world....

Mojo -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (16/12/2009 4:50:56 PM)

Im playing the first one through again at the moment in the build up to the sequel, so I'll have two fuly fledged characters to choose from. One is a bit of a grunt, but a heroic grunt always out to do whats right. The other is a bitch with magic powers who shoots anyone who even glares at the scares that cover her face.

Excitement.

Harry Tuttle -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (18/12/2009 12:18:24 AM)

A litttle explanation of how decisions will carry through from one game to the other here. It's spoilerific for anyone who hasn't played the first though, obviously.

Love, Decisions and the Future

Everything I read about this game makes me even more excited. I've got a save game for both endings, and like Mojo one's a bad ass and the other's a paragon of virtue so I could be in for 2 significantly different experiences if that article is anything to go by.

Cannot. Wait.

Have you seen the absolutely abysmal red vain effect that dominates the screen when you get injured? Ugh what were they thinking???

Mass Effect DLC will be next weeks Deal of the Week.  Both packs cut down to 240.

the anomaly -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (20/1/2010 9:47:58 AM)

A quick video regarding importing your old Mass Effect character to M.E 2 ; http://uk.pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14235019/mass-effect-2/videos/me2_spc_import_011910.html  Looking good I'd say.

I've just started my second play through. I chose a female character this time. So far I'm a renagade and I'll probaly be pro-human in my choices. Then I'll continue my level 50 character (Paragon & Male) and maybe one more play through if I can fit it in.

I love Mass Effect ... but it's showing it's age a bit on this playthrough. It's still a brilliant game of course. Just a bit rough around the edges now. Quite shocked that it was released in Nov 2007. Time flies. [&:] Still I'm enjoying my playthrough.

somekindof_battery -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (20/1/2010 6:02:38 PM)

I picked up the first Mass Effect a week and a half ago and just blitzed through it, it was utterly addictive. I know i shouldn't but i think i might just have to purchase Mass Effect 2 brand new when it comes out - it looks so damn good. Graphically it's like night and day between ME1 and ME2 and i'm psyched to be transferring my Sheppard over.

After my first play through and completion of ME2, i'm gonna do 1 again as a renegade and transfer that to 2. It's going to be a fun, if anti-social few months.

juanvasquez -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (20/1/2010 6:21:27 PM)

Thinking of making ME the next game I take on. The more I read about it, the more excited I get. I've got several still in their wrapping vying for my attention after I'm done with AC2, and it's calling to me...

TrendMeUp -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (22/1/2010 2:59:33 AM)

I have a question about character imports:

I don't remember being able to save the game at the end (or did I?), so how does the game know what final choices you made in the first one? I can't actually remember what I did at the end of the first one, might be worth checking..

SPOILERS for MASS EFFECT ONE!!!!

...
...

Regarding Mass Effect 1 if you have completed the game then you will be able to load your old character for repeat playthroughs. So it must save your ending somehow regardless.

I've almost finished my second playthrough. I've been renagade for pretty much everything. Apart from when it looks like doing so will limit the missions I can do or how much I get to know the crew. In other words genocide is ok but hurting the feelings of crew memebers I want to bone ... not ok. [:D]

I'm really looking forward to seeing how your choices pay off in the next game. Even though my first playthrough was a Paragon of virtue he still has one blemish on his lovelife. After flirting with Ashley ... leading her on and finally kicking her to the curb ...I decided she should be the one to stay behind and ... well you know the rest. [&:]

Quick question regarding my level 50 character. Shall just go for the hardest difficulty on the next playthrough? Or will it be stupidly tough?

The game makes a secret save file when you complete it.

To make sure you can import your character to ME2 try starting a NG+ by going to Start New Career then Select Existing ID.  If your character is there it can be imported to ME2.

Even though I wasn't a fan of the original that trailer looked very impressive. Was that Martin Sheen?

Rgirvan44 -> RE: Mass Effect 2 aka the greatest RPG sequel ever (22/1/2010 9:51:57 PM)

Saw something online about the actors doing the voices. Sheen couldn't sound any more bored if he tried.

Ha. It's a pay cheque at the end of the day. I remember in the first day Diana Troy from Star Trek TNG sounded like she phoned her performance in, which is really bad for a computer game.

Still, not all games can be Metal Gear Solid plus it beats some of the earliest voice acting *cough*Resident Evil*cough*

Indeed, it gets better every time you watch it. It's the music that does it I think, it has the hairs on the back of my neck standing to attention.

IGN review HERE

Booked Friday off work so Amazon better get it to me on time. Luckily my free month of Amazon Prime runs till 29th Jan (coincidence eh) so I should at least get it on time. Can. Not. Wait. This is going to be the longest week ever.
