hey Guys - I apologise in advance if this has been mentioned elsewhere - I Love this Film! I first saw it at the ODEON WEST END in 1996 - the first 'Cinema Day' when one could go to ANY Cinema and watch ANY Film for a Pound (I think this only lasted a Few Years - the following year I saw CON AIR, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, THE RELIC and RUMBLE IN THE BRONX all for a quid each!) anyway, watching the Rodriguez / Tarantino team-up was one of the best Cinema Experiences of my life; I was laughing all the way through and I liked the fact that more than half the audience - who were expecting some sort of -  'Pulp Fiction' style flick - didn't know what to make of it all when the film switches mode completely once the Vampires appear in the Titty Twister. To date, this is my favourite George Clooney film; now that he's gone all 'serious' chances are, he'll never make another fun film like this classic! Awesome Soundtrack, Brilliant Cast, VERY Funny Script.

Riddick_J -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (13/4/2009 11:38:59 AM)

Very cool movie, awsome music, Salma Hayek dancing to 'After Dark' by Tito and Tarantula is fuckin cool as hell. Loads of great lines also.

"You serve food here, Jose?"
"Best in Mexico."
"I kinda doubt that."

DazDaMan -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (13/4/2009 11:41:18 AM)

Love it.

"Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them.  I don't give a fuck how crazy they are!"

Harley Quinn -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:26:27 PM)

I adore this film.  George Clooney and Vampires. *sigh*.

"I'm a bastard, not a fucking bastard"

DazDaMan -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:34:40 PM)

"All right, pussy, pussy, pussy! Come on in pussy lovers! Here at the Titty Twister we're slashing pussy in half! Give us an offer on our vast selection of pussy, this is a pussy blow out! All right, we got white pussy, black pussy, Spanish pussy, yellow pussy, we got hot pussy, cold pussy, we got wet pussy, we got
[sniffs]
smelly pussy, we got hairy pussy, bloody pussy, we got snappin' pussy, we got silk pussy, velvet pussy, Naugahyde pussy, we even got horse pussy, dog pussy, chicken pussy! Come on, you want pussy, come on in, pussy lovers! If we don't got it, you don't want it! Come on in, pussy lovers!"

Scott_ -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:40:27 PM)

"All right, Vampire killers....let's kill some fucking Vampires"

Great film, more of a Grindhouse film than Grindhouse actually was. Cheech Marin and his 'speech' is frakkin hilarious.

Chris66 -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:41:19 PM)

I was watching this film yesterday and its absolutely hilarious. What really made the film for me was Clooney, Keitel and Tarantino. Tarantino is such a brilliant writer as well.

"Low profile." Do you know what the words "low profile" mean?"

Rgirvan44 -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:44:40 PM)

Full Tilt Boogie, the Making Of documentary on the second disk is pretty great as well. Very honest film which looks at people at all levels of production. Well worth checking.

Oh and the film is pretty great as well.

DazDaMan -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:44:59 PM)

Clooney plays such a good bad-ass, too.

Skiba -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/4/2009 12:45:24 PM)

Unfortunately I didn't see it at the cinema but I remember well when me and a mate rented it...we were enjoying it as road-actioner movie and then BAM!!  There's fucking vampires!  We had no clue!

Tarantino needs to be IN more films

I was the same, saw it at the cinema. Knew nothing about it but it only cost 1 to get in and there was nothing else on. Cool criminals on the run film and then vampire gore-fest.

George Clooney was bad-ass in this film

BlueBalls -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (16/4/2009 12:25:59 AM)

I love this movie. I still cite the soundtrack as one of the best I've ever heard.

DazDaMan -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (16/4/2009 10:06:35 AM)

I have the soundtrack on CD, and the track After Dark (from the snake dance scene) on my MP3 player in the car.  Awesome.

Ste7enForever -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (16/4/2009 10:39:41 AM)

"Come on Sex Machine! Show me what you got"

I love the Tom Savini and Fred Williamson cameos! I also like the idea that half way through Tarantino didnt know how to end it and just said fuck it, throw in some vampires.

Anyone seen the sequels? I'm tempted....

Harley Quinn -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (16/4/2009 10:46:33 AM)

I once got drunk and tried the drink down my leg thing. It wasn't pretty and a waste of good vodka.

Snake-Eyes -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (16/4/2009 5:39:51 PM)

man.... the fantasies I've had of Hayek and that scene!

Gamba -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (17/4/2009 12:35:00 PM)

This film is great fun - and the only time I've seen George Clooney play a nasty guy, yes he still remains so likeable!

And Salma Hayek is indeed incredible.

Tarantino's best pulp script IMO.

Some cool artwork from the Graphic Novel...

yet another one in Snake-Eyes' oh-so-brilliant collection!

Tech_Noir -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (15/6/2009 12:40:18 PM)

Good film, although slightly uneven - clearly inspired by Kathryn Bigelow's Near Dark.

djdarrenjames -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (17/6/2009 12:18:49 PM)

A good movie that flips out on you half way through (when Rodriguez takes the helm) I didnt enjoy the second half as much as the first but it is certainly unrelenting!
The switcharoo in the gas stop at the beginning is awesome and I wanted the shoot out to go on longer!

Genuine proof that there is a God....

Santanico Pandemonium: I'm not gonna drain you completely. You're gonna turn for me. You'll be my slave. You'll live for me. You'll eat bugs because I order it. Why? Because I don't think you're worthy of human blood. You'll feed on the blood of stray dogs. You'll be my foot stool. And at my command, you'll lick the dog shit from my boot heel. Since you'll be my dog, your new name will be "Spot". Welcome to slavery.

Seth: No, thanks. I've already had a wife.

JoeyPottr -> RE: FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (27/6/2009 4:52:57 AM)

This is about the only horror vampire movie I will watch really. I enjoyed this one though, great cast too. The bar that's shaped like a Babylonian Temple is a cool set idea. The did this film on a shoestring budget but you wouldn't think so because of the effects, they're pretty cool. I like that all the characters are interesting too.

I agree. Rodriguez is a master when it comes to producing amazing results with so little; I love his 'Ten Minute Film School' shorts on the DESPERADO, MEXICO and PLANET TERROR dvds, he shows the viewer the smallest little tricks that he uses to create all kinds of shots. The characters in FDTD are indeed interesting, I especially liked Kietel's preacher, Jacob and how he at first quite rightly distrusted Seth but later they both developed a respect for each other. And how cool was his Baseball Bat / Shotgun combo?!

I watched this film again today. Man, Clooney will NEVER be more bad-ass than this again. Seth Gecko was his Snake Plissken!
