This thread went well

Takeshi Kitano meets Akira Kurosawa

Yes, Kurosawa is wearing that.

It's a good idea, Ultimo. I don't visit the World Cinema subforum very much anymore, but if I did, I'd be on-board with this. There were tons of YouTube links to whole films and shorts listed in the Best Asian Films thread over in Lists (ahead of the top 150 East Asian films poll). There were possibly other similar lists in the other regional cinema threads.

Hang on...
Here ya go:

It would be good if this thread got going as a repository for all things WC, but it would need some organisation, I think.

Ultimo Lee -> RE: World Cinema YouTube Thread (3/4/2012 5:13:24 PM)

Deleted some of the dead links above. Shame the Kitano masterclass has been deleted.

Once you start digging it's suprising how many films are on Youtube. I'm not a fan of them being in bits but there's a fair few posted whole like Bodyguards And Assassin, Whispering Corridors and Cyborg She. Not sure if i should post the links they might end up getting taken down.

If more links get posted i'll organise them in the first post probably by country or region.

The Raid looks awesome, been hearing about it on various podcasts and blogs for about 6 months. Can't wait to finally see it.

Just been reading the sad news that Jacques Rivette has Alzheimerís

"And now for some overwhelmingly sad news. Jacques Rivette has Alzheimerís disease. As I trust everyone knows his last film 36 vues de Pic Saint-Loup was a mere 80 minutes long. Thatís because Rivette had to cut the shooting short as he was having serious difficulty. His condition has since deegerated to the point that according to filmmaker Benoit Jacquot (who I interviewed two days ago) Rivette can no longer go to the movies as he finds it impossible to retain even so much as a few minutes of audio-visual information and therefore can no longer follow films at all. Itís a Death Before Death." Ė David Ehrenstein

So i thought i'd post an interview

Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeApgdz1BuQ
Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CPB6dp6aBA

A few of his films are on Youtube
