Ridley Scott has only made three films worth watching. Any of the others could be made by any studio hack and you couldn't tell.
Time to die Ridley.

So were you born a douche or does it just come naturally?

Someone hasn't seen Bladerunner.
But seriously, does anyone get excited for a Ridley Scott film these days?

Do you read what you type? Just saying.

Your point being...?

Next time reference something that doesn't allude to telling Scott to die.

It was a line from Bladerunner? I'm sure fans shout it to him all the time and he replies with ''I will... but not yet... Not yet!''

Wonderful storytelling, sir. (NO)

It could be true.

lukeyboy -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (18/4/2011 4:43:19 PM)

Ridders is awesome! Hell - I even enjoyed GI Jane! No really!......

Spaldron -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (23/4/2011 2:49:45 AM)

Sir Ridder's is brilliant and rubbish at the same time. He's made some right crap admittedly but his great work outshines his duff stuff. How many directors out there can claim a back catalogue as good as Alien, Blade Runner (Directors/Final Cut), Gladiator, Legend, Kingdom of Heaven (Directors Cut), American Gangster, Robin Hood (its a good film, really) and Howard the Duck.

Ridley Rocks!

NCC1701A -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (25/4/2011 4:02:49 PM)

Did he work on Howard the Duck or have I got my wires crossed. Have Alien and American Gangster however I have not seen that yet but my Favourite is Robin Hood I keep meaning to rewatch Gladiator. Blade Runner is a film that grows on me however Legend is duff even with Tim Curry in it. G.I Jane has it's moments and Black Hawk Down needs a rewatch as well I remember not really likeing it when I first saw it.

DARKO_DONNIE_DONUT -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (16/1/2012 11:36:40 PM)

I like the fact R.Scott sometimes finishes his sentences with "right" ie he said it alot in the Alien special features disk.
Something i've sadly noticed.

He has a bloody great eye for detail,right.

Wonder if R.S is still interested in adapting Joe Hakderman's Forever War onto the big screen.

It was going to be his first Sci-Fi before jumping back into the Alien world of Prometheus.

Howard The Duck isn't as bad as its made out to be, that is all. [:)]

garvielloken -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (18/3/2012 7:29:57 PM)

I think he was confused because you have Howard The Duck as part of Ridley Scott's filmography. It was directed by Willard Huyck I believe. [:)]

Howard The Duck is awesome though.

Sutty -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (20/3/2012 6:40:42 AM)

Spaldron, how can you make a mistake such as this? Ridley Scott. Ridders? The Rid? responsible for Howard the Duck?!? How dare you man![;)]

Nexus Wookie -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (14/4/2012 9:52:44 PM)

Sir Ridley Scott has forever cemented his place in the greatest movies hall of fame, I dont give a fuck if he makes shit for the rest of his life, he gave me Blade Runner and Alien, two of the greatest science fiction movies ever, and in the former, my favourite film. And the latter, a movie that introduced the world to the greatest movie monster, period.

In my eyes he will always be a Legend.

EDIT: just realised this is my 666th post - damien if your hearing this - get stuffed! [:D]

I don't know but for some reason I always assumed Ridley Scott directed Howard The Duck. Must have been Mark Kermodes fault.

NinjaShortbread212 -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (17/4/2012 4:13:48 AM)

LOL, typical Spaldy! [:D]

I think that is one of the best movie mis-conceptions i've heard in a while!!

donethinking -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (29/8/2012 4:20:30 PM)

I havent seen all his films but Bladerunner and Alien are among my favs of all time, Gladiator on the other hand was a massive turn off, cliched macho bunkum plus pompus twat Russell Crowe.

It's not clichéd, it's just of a style. Personally I love it, although I do prefer the other two you mention, obviously!

donethinking -> RE: CONSTANTLY (12/9/2012 11:42:45 AM)

I probably would have liked it if pompus balloon Russell Crowe wasnt in it, I cant fucking stand him.

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: CONSTANTLY (5/1/2013 10:12:48 PM)

If anyone is interested in reading abit more on ol'Ridders then I cant but turn your heads towards Paul.M.Sammons small book:Ridley Scott.The Making Of His Movies.
It only accounts for the first 10 of his films and also his extremely impressive rise to where he is now.
Interesting read.

sampei -> RE: CONSTANTLY (28/5/2013 10:05:28 AM)

He is not my favourite director - actually I don't have a favourite director - however movies such as Alien Blade runner and Gladiator are for me impossible to forget.

**thumb up**

Teresa76 -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (5/7/2013 12:20:12 PM)

I think he should have been higher in the list.I know he has made a couple of bad movies like Robin hood being the one I really dislike but Blade runner is one of the best films ever made and is on my list of favorite films

Dr Lenera -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (29/11/2013 9:16:05 AM)

Scott was a very good director for his first two decades. But he hasn't made a good film now since Kingdom Of Heaven and a really good one since Thelma And Louise. For quite a while, his brother was easily the better filmmaker, and he never made anything as crap as Prometheus or The Counsellor.

Peregrine Took -> RE: RIDLEY SCOTT (2/5/2014 7:21:47 AM)

I like Blade Runner. That's pretty much it as far as Ridley Scott is concerned. His brother's films, while hardly great, are by and large more entertaining.

Really glad you said this. Its also original in that it centers around a fictional gladiator instead of a historical figure as seen in other epics e.g Lawrence of Arabia. We get to see a smaller and more relatable story being told within the backdrop of history.
