Hrggg.....helmet is way to big

JIm R -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (20/11/2010 9:52:19 AM)

I know the budget for this film is pretty slimline but man that's awful.

Spektre -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (20/11/2010 1:56:17 PM)

You know apart from the helmet and the shield, the rest of the uniform looks nothing like the comic. Even Stallone's version was more faithful.

He looks more like Mad Max in a helmet.

darth silas -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (20/11/2010 2:07:18 PM)

It looks like that helmet is goin to fall off him if he moves.Its way too big.

danbo1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (20/11/2010 11:42:27 PM)

They have cleaned up the blury pic and the helmet isn't as big as first looks. I like it,very 70's early stuff,anyway

Check out the trailer for fan film "Judge Minty" to see how proper Judge costumes should be done.

They lent the Film guys the Minty helmet props to help with the uniform as well as visit them with all the gear,can't move properly with it on hence the change or so im told.

Marwood -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (22/11/2010 11:03:04 AM)

I like the helmet actually - straight out of 70s Dredd imo and once the blur was cleared up it gives a better idea of size. Agree that it still looks a bit big and cumbersome but with some slight streamlining I think it will reach something more functional.

The rest of the suit is less impressive though; I know this is being made on a budget and trying to keep some versimilitude (sp?) but considering the concept they can push certain things to a more unreal area. I'd just like to see those chunky shoulder pads and a bit of flair I guess but this isn't a bad start at least. Although it's still not clear if this is the final suit/film still or from test footage seeing as various sites are claiming different things - I'm hoping it's test with some tweaks still to go.

danbo1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (22/11/2010 5:18:11 PM)

Nah,it's the suit.Filming started the other week. I like it,grows on you.

That pic actually looks a LOT better now.This could be very good indeed.I wanna see what Judge Anderson looks like next.

Rgirvan44 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (22/11/2010 6:55:02 PM)

Looks fine to me. Got flashbacks to people not liking that the X-Men costumes weren't true to the comic books.

danbo1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (22/11/2010 7:13:43 PM)

She doesn't wear a helmet,messes her psi powers up,dunno if she wear the armour though? scripts out there on the net if you want to find out...

oui3d -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (22/11/2010 8:50:22 PM)

Agree. The big pads and the chain felt like (or maybe i've interpreted them as) the manifestation of the National and the Legal side. Like This is what Americans would do with the wig and robe in British Crown Law.
The built in badge makes it difficult to slam on a table with his gun if he decides to go rogue.
There'll just be the flapping of leather and a muted Thunk.

It's a pity the Stath can't do accents. He is quite chinny and would carry the physical stuff off easily.

He doesnt need to speak...just hit and shoot people.

Would've championed Ray Stevenson myself - watch Punisher War Zone and slap a helmet on him...you're cooking with petrol then.

Not as bankable as Karl Urban I guess though.

I've been trying to open it since last night, but its either reaaallllly busy or offline. What is it? This is like a small-scale version of the idiotic furore over Daniel Craig.

EDIT - speaking of which, this place is still going strong. How sad. http://www.danielcraigisnotbond.com/forum/

Damn you! I've been refreshing the window every few hours since last night!

The Lawmaster has fat tyres this time,bugged the shit out of me with Sly version(confirmed by the SFX guys who visited the set),and did you guys see the set pics of Meg 1 from the other day?

The original pics they released did make the X-costumes look absolutely awful though. They were okay in the finished film, better in X2. I do miss the individual distinctive look of each X-man to some extent, mind you.

Back on topic, I think Versace's Judge Dredd suit was a lot better than this one, personally speaking.

danbo1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (2/12/2010 4:57:58 PM)

*Shudder*

morg1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 7:33:31 AM)

More pics from the set, with kind of normal looking vehicles!?

Invader_Ace -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 9:16:55 AM)

Noooooooooooooooo!
The new leathered up Dredd, I could take.  The new Halo-like Lawgiver, I could take.
But this "Estate outside Hackney aethstetic" with normal vehicles.  It's just not right!
I know before we get to the distant future there must have been a not too distant future bit, but seriously; screw that.  We're living that now.

danbo1138 -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 9:28:04 AM)

Agreed,the cars look shit,simple.Lazy and cheep,this is Dredd not Mad Max or Robocop. Expectations well and truly lowerd.

Marwood -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 10:25:16 AM)

Likewise - unless there'll be a lot of digital tweaking later this looks like the budget for the film is going to totally work against it, say what you like about the Stallone version but at least it could give us a suitably futuristic Mega City One. If the production is aiming for a Bladerunner kind of design then I could get behind that but this just looks like generic cheap post-apocalypse.

Spektre -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 11:34:18 AM)

The cars look so wrong! Just awful.

I really can't see how post production can make what I've seen so far look like Mega City One. I know it's early days but Stallone's Dredd despite its many flaws seems to be miles ahead of this version.

The Hooded Man -> RE: Urban is Dredd? (7/12/2010 12:05:30 PM)

Judging (did you see what I did there) by these early set pics it looks like this has the production values of a TV series.
