Sledge Hammer -> The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 8:30:32 AM)

Just a quick note to say how excellent this series has been.

Anyone who hasn't seen it, the only way I can describe it is like the Office crossed with Grange Hill.

Its cringeworthy embarassing at times but never dull - cant wait for a second series.

Quick question though - why have channel 4 seemed to have dumped it tonight in favour of Desperate Housewives and is it on a different night instead?

Fanboyslayer -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 9:33:13 AM)

I saw the first series a while back and really loved it. The ad's for it didn't do it justice at all it was much funnier than I thought it was going to be.  I avoided it at first but caught an epsiode one night when there was nothing else on and was totally surprised by it. I hope they do a second series but I ave a feeling it'll just get bumped around until people give up with it.  For anyone who hasn't seen it it's definitely worth checking out.

Neth -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 9:36:29 AM)

Happened upon this whilst flicking through my mate's On Demand, after it failed to register when it was first on. Ended up watching the entire series in one sitting, and was surprised at how funny it turned out to be. And, in a crass, potty-mouthed way, it's actually quite sweet as well. Can't wait for the second series.

discodave101 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 9:41:44 AM)

I accidentally stumbled across this the other nite too, and I must say it was bloody marvellous. Think I may just rent the series 1 DVD's, if any come out/are out. The Office mixed with Grange Hill is a good comparison. In fact, one of the guys plays the role as if its a young version of the Tim character from the office - his use of the word 'Brilliant' when someone says something unfunny or bad is identical, and he looks a bit like him too.

What nite is it that this is being repeated on E4?

paulyboy -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 10:27:20 AM)

Brought this on DVD after a friends recommendation a while back, it's fantastic, the line delivery by the four leads is spot-on. Granted it's totally crass and completely juvenile but I couldn't help but laugh like a seal throughout.

"Please don't wank over my mum!"
"Can't promise that I'm afraid!"

Sledge Hammer -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/12/2008 12:13:03 PM)

it was being shown on channel 4 on wednesday's.

Tonight would have been the 5th episode but its disappeared due to bloody desperate housewives [:@]

Peter Dragon -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 9:03:59 AM)

It's currently being repeated on E4, Thursday nights at 11.
All I can say is "Bumder"

Episode 2 was on last night and I haven't laughed out loud at the tv like that in a long long time.
Highlights were Will's verbal attack on the "gay" dad, and Simon's exorcist impression on Carly's brother.
Brilliant. Highly recommend it.

Eerily similar to a lot of young men's lives too.

MBeard -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 9:05:01 AM)

Anyone know is a second series has been commisioned? I highly enjoyed this first time around.

OH BUGGER! I've still not seen the first 2 episodes. Fucksticks.

Peter Dragon -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 10:42:40 AM)

It's on Amazon for 8, well worth the splash based on the 2 episodes I've seen so far.

Rgirvan44 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 11:19:39 AM)

"Friend?"

*Thumbs up*

rupert303 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 11:36:44 AM)

is he your friend...from football?

appleby -> RE: The Inbetweeners (6/2/2009 3:41:55 PM)

'Frothing at the Gash'

...has to be my favourite quote form the series, for all is teenage boyish vulgarity. great stuff. looking forward to series 2

That line slayed me....in fact that entire episode (involving the boys bunking off and Carly's brother getting puked on) was comedy gold.

I missed this when it was first aired, and rented the DVD on a recommendation. Can't wait for a 2nd series!

dr. salvador -> RE: The Inbetweeners (8/2/2009 12:41:25 PM)

when is the second series due?

Ethanial -> RE: The Inbetweeners (8/2/2009 3:25:19 PM)

Just read, ABC want to make an American version.
How could that work, no swearing, limited references, it'd just suck something awful.
Second series should be on within the next few months I hear.

According to W/pedia, the Series 2 DVD is due out in May 2009, so S2 should be out sometime soon.

thatlittlemonkey -> RE: The Inbetweeners (24/3/2009 12:27:57 PM)

Randomly checked out an episode on 4OD the other night, ended up watching the first half of the series.  Really funny.  Will's responses to the badge/briefcase insults in the first episode just killed me off.  Great stuff.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/4/2009 8:47:07 AM)

Brilliant first episode!
Friend!
The bedroom sequence with the pa*do teacher was hilarious.
So glad its back!

jay13 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/4/2009 9:16:55 AM)

Do you want to lick my cornetto?

Fanboyslayer -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/4/2009 12:38:07 PM)

I'm so glad this is back. Love it, love it, love it. Watched last night and throughly enjoyed it. I love the really harsh teacher in it he get's me crying with laughter.

BatFan -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/4/2009 1:07:17 PM)

Is it me or does he look like Rik Mayall's taller, scarier looking brother?

Peter Dragon -> RE: The Inbetweeners (3/4/2009 2:08:25 PM)

Mr. Gilbert taking the paedo teacher out of their dorm was also excellent, then the "watching you" gesture to the lads, as if they did something bad.

Oo yeah actually you have point there.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: The Inbetweeners (10/4/2009 10:30:05 AM)

Not the best episode last night but still some choice moments as ever.

Mr Gilbert cracks me up something rotten! Still the best thing on TV at the moment.

elab49 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (10/4/2009 10:43:44 AM)

Channel hopping I caught an epi of this last night. Personally I found it godawfully unoriginal and pretty generally woeful, but I do have one query and I wonder if fans know if this has been raised?

Given the lead character I saw last night is a blatant rip-off of Adrian Mole - look, character, manner of speech, attitude, the lot - has Sue Townsend sued? Or are they relying on it being a new generation of young people who aren't familiar with the character being ripped off?

rupert303 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (10/4/2009 11:04:09 AM)

I had thought of it like that, but he is. [:D] That would be hard to prove in court though.

The Inbetweeners is quite funny, but it's basically 30mins of people saying 'bum', 'cock', 'wank' etc...which is hardly comedy genius. Puerile is the word, so it's ether quite clever (in a self-referential, just give the audience what they want way) or very one note.

I think one of the reasons I like it is that, unlike Skins, this feels pretty close to what school was actully like for most people, incluing the swearing.

I could barely breathe from laughing so hard last night when the guy was getting the hand job and got his arse kicked by a twleve year old.

rupert303 -> RE: The Inbetweeners (10/4/2009 11:13:51 AM)

I like it too. But it is one-note.
