Pinocchio's not out until March next year ? fuck sake death to Disney and their poxy vault!

Yes disney's release schedule is ago ahead and pirate me idea but their idea to bundle a DVD copy with the Bluray is inspired......as long as the Region B release is the same as A.....and they lose points again for sticking with region coding[:@]

Isn't that a law?

I personally can't wait for a DVD or Blu-Ray rerelease of Fantasia. There were rumours that something similar to the above Pinocchio set was going to be made for Fantasia. I hope it happens, but I heard that it won't happen until 2010, the 70th anniversary of Fantasia.

Of course it's not a law. Warner's BD releases are always region free. Region locking was something agreed on very early in DVD's conception period by all the major companies. When HD came along some felt that it didn't have the required effect in controlling releases what with the multi region hacking that developed so they decided to do away with it. Now it is generally Fox, Disney, some Sony and Lionsgate releases that are locked, more are region free.

Timmy_Brisby_05 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 10:21:10 AM)

Can't wait for Sleeping Beauty either.

adambatman82 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 11:56:46 AM)

saw an advert for sleeping beauty in this months dvd review magazine and it confirmed that there is a seperate dvd bundled with the 2 blu-ray discs. really looking forward to this. not the biggest fan of sleeping beauty but the platinum editions are always amazing.

Artoo02 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 1:04:07 PM)

Although I think it's a great idea, it's typical that one of the first Blu-rays to come with a DVD (Sleeping Beauty) is one that has a gorgeous DVD special edition box though isn't it? [:D]
I'm buying both, the mug that I am. (having said that, they're usually worth it as an investment for the silly prices they go for on e-bay as soon as they're deleted, not that I'll sell it, that is just some flawed justification!).

Windows12 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 1:07:21 PM)

Does anyone know when the platinum/special editions of: The Lion King, Beauty And The Beast or Alladin will be re-released?

DouglasG -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 1:17:55 PM)

Chances are that SW and BATB will be rereleased by 2011. However, that may only be on Bluray. [&:]

Cheers for that. I have been trying to find out if the region 2 did have the DVD so all looks good for the Pinocchio release then. My lad loves it and I don't want it playing enedlessly on the main TV.

paul.mccluskey -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 2:25:29 PM)

Are there any plans to release more of the Disney Treasures series?

I meant is region coding on DVD a law? But I can see now it's not, so... doobidoob.

No , it's not law! The region coding came about so that Distributors (mainly American ones) can control who can buy their movie and at a price that they can set. Also China have their own Region code to themselves but that's because of the insane censorship that goes on over there so you could say that for them the Coding is sort of law.

Lion King was only out on DVD there back in 2004 I think it was, Beauty and the Beast was out in about 2006-ish. Aladdin was re-released this year but minus the special features because Disney are tight-arsed cunts. You can however get it for about 15-20 from amazon market place. Lion King and Beauty will cost you an arm and a leg!!!

Its gonna be a 70th annivesery eddtion for pinocchio and the blu ray is 27.99 at play.com

Windows12 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 9:06:34 PM)

A site dedicated to selling only new uk disney dvds called www.timelessdisney.co.uk

are selling the platinum editions of the lion king and beauty and the beast for 15.97 each!

With almost ever other disney dvd (fantasia 60th anniversary edition, snow white PE, lady and the tramp, cinderella SE, little mermaid PE, peter pan PE...and many more) for 12.97 each!

A mega bargain if it is real/legit

adambatman82 -> RE: The Disney Platinum Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (19/10/2008 9:13:01 PM)

i dont think theyre real tbh. first of all it claims that "OUR OPEN REGION DVDS PLAYS ALL OVER THE WORLD
* UNITED KINGDOM *" which is something that i dont think is right, and secondly theyre selling shrek and madagasgar, neither of which are actually disney films.

That anniversary nonsense gets on my nerves sometimes! Fair enough one dvd release for a particular anniversary of a release maybe but Disney really take the biscuit. This has been one incredibly expensive relationship [8D]

adambatman82 -> RE: The Disney Platinum/Special Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (20/10/2008 6:10:14 PM)

what are the chances of song of the south making it out on either dvd or blu-ray??

DouglasG -> RE: The Disney Platinum/Special Edition DVD/Bluray Thread.. (20/10/2008 6:25:59 PM)

from the oh so reliable wikipedia:

"Despite rumors of a forthcoming DVD release, Disney CEO Robert Iger stated on March 10, 2006 at a Disney Shareholder Meeting that it had been decided that the company would not re-release it for the time being. At the annual shareholders meeting in March 2007, Iger announced that the company was reconsidering the decision, and have decided to look into the possibility of releasing the film. In May 2007, it was again reported that the Disney company has chosen not to release the film. However, rumors to the contrary continue to surface."

Updated the first post to make it more neat! [:)]

Got Sleeping Beauty on Bluray today! [:D]
Got pictures of the packaging which is pretty identical to the R1 Edition, except the DVD is integrated into the packaging rather than in a seperate sleeve.
