Exciting but not fun... That review seemed a bit on the fence to me,

I've started to see a few reviews pop up now and have to say that it seems this way across the board. As I remember it was the same with Casino Royale 2 years ago, so hopefully we are in for the same amount of excitement that we were then.

Maybe even some fun too.

They're not in the process of writing the fourth Bourne, it's been made and is under the guise of Quantum of Solace.
I'm all for modernising Bond, but they've taken it too far and cribbed all the action sequences from the latter Bournes in the process. They’ve tried to tick every box with an action sequence on road, water, in the air…the list goes on. Impressive as they are, they just don’t feel very Bond.
The oil-slicked nod to Goldfinger was a nice touch, but all Bond-isms are sadly lacking. And what’s with the Minority Report computers at MI6?
This is a solid 3-star film, nothing more. Oh, and was there a Basic Instinct moment in the hotel when the would-be dictator rapes the waitress? That’s one for the DVD!

I absolutely loved it. A Great Movie. It's not better than Casino Royale (in fact, there isn't pretty much difference) but, still, I loved it. But, I would recommend more the Bourne trilogy.

a heads-up woud've been nice naylor! I don't want to know to many details about the homages if it's all the same.
Not seen it so can't write a review but Craig looks brutal in the trailer.
And Bourne? Who gives a shit about that wannabe!
Bond is British and best.
Jason Bourne even nicked his initials for Godsake!
I give the trailer 5 stars but the song zero.

Wasnt expecting the review and the 4 stars has got me very exciiiiited! had to stop reading it though, i thought it was giving a little too much away?

Great to see, it has earned a couple of 4 star reviews from serious critics, that count. I trust the balance will be right and the ride will be both thrilling and great on the eye. Canīt wait [:D]

Sadly from reading just three reviews of this film I've established what is going to happen with Gemma Aterton's character, bloody movie reviewers thinking they're being all clever with their puns and what not, when infact all they do is give big ole spoilers away.[:)]
This film isn't quite getting the universal praise I was expecting, but I'll still be there opening night, I'm hoping that some reviwers are a bit off with their description of the action sequences, as some are saying that even they are a bit lousy, and going from the trailer I thought they'd be the highlight.
Ohhh well , I'll see in a couple of weeks.

the average rating for a bond film (a good one) is normally 4 stars.
goldeneye, tomorrow never dies etc.

Looks likes QOS going to kick some ass.
I liked Casino Royale but i didn't love it- hopefully this is a turn back to the bond we love (minus invisible cars and ice palaces)

Can't wait for this, always love me some Bond. Loved Casino Royale and this looks like it won't disappoint. And the comparison to the Bourne films; I love action movies and i can see the similarities, but for some reason the Bourne trilogy bored me to sleep. Quite literally in fact,.. i actually did fall asleep in the cinema watching the second one!

I soon realised I should skip the first paragraph, and then after reading that bit about the death (it's easy to figure out), I decided to stop reading altogether. Surely a review is to help us decide whether to see a film or not, rather than actually tell us what happens?

i cant wait to i see the new james bond and by the review it sounds like it wont let me down. The only thing that worries me is the running time, can it be that good at just over hour an half running time!

I'm curious about the rape of the waitress, is it shown or just implied by some grunting, screams and fade out? I imagine such a scene is there to create some invective in the audience and to give some justification to Bond shall we say 'offing' the general?

(Rating for review) While I appreciate some general film scenarios have to be mentioned to review the film, way too much detail about various set peices of the film and a possible important part of the plot devlopment given away i.e. death (though hope I'm wrong) and Amalric's role in the grand scheme of things. I will no doubt enjoy the film as I was a massive fan of Casino Royal but be careful with you future reviews in including possible spoilers Kim Newman.

I know it's still an hour and 45 minutes long, but they are still going to have to cram a shed load into the running time.
 
105 minutes for a Bond film !!
 
Still majorly looking forward to it though.

I don't really want to read the review as I'm aware that people are giving out spoilers as if they were sweets but I'm a little wary of the fact that the comments I have read suggest that it's not particularly fun.  I know that we are now getting back to basics with the films, but even Casino Royale had some element of fun and some well timed humour.  I'm all for getting rid of the silliness that resulted in an invisible car, but there is such a thing as going too far the other way.  Surely a Bond film can be slightly more grounded in reality without having to be completely, morbidly serious?
