Fluke Skywalker -> The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 11:36:37 AM)

Anyone catch this show? I saw it for the first time yesterday and at times it was bordering on genius. The way he takes the piss out of adverts, films and TV shows is brilliant.

Some examples :

Computer games consoles ad...
Fony Playbox : One ad showed two guys sieg heiling with Wii type remotes, the game was The Nuremberg Rally!

Another ad showed the two guys shagging with the remotes as their knobs - the game was Premiership Footballers Spit Roasts [sm=18.gif]

Film spoofs :
Teen comedy about a guy compiling a list of girls he wants to shag on prom night...
Schindlers List [:D]

Another teen comedy, two nerds want to get a hot girl, find out she's into bowling so they see that as their angle.... Bowling For Columbine [:D]

Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare - literally him in his bed having a nightmare about being attacked in his kitchen by a giant spider.

Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare USA - exactly the same ad except the spider is wearing an Uncle Tom tophat [sm=18.gif]

I don't if this is coming across as well as it should but it's quickfire stuff and he throws absolutely loads of ideas at you

Newander -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 11:39:43 AM)

Agreed it is really entertaining.
He does some impressions really well like Justin Lee Colins...good times! [8D]

Fluke Skywalker -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 11:44:52 AM)

I actually thought that was Harry Hill for a moment as well!

Caster -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 3:05:17 PM)

Much as I dislike him...I admit it made me chuckle.

Greggieboy -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 7:24:33 PM)

Second episode was better than last weeks.  Some jokes did make me laugh out loud.

It is also 100 times better than 'Tonightly' which was on later that night.  Utter rubbish.

Jack of Blades -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 8:01:47 PM)

It has a pretty poor hit-and-miss rate but as Greggieboy pointed out, a hundred times better than Tonightly.

I did enjoy the STD-Kelly and Harry Hill sketches though.

paul.mccluskey -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (2/8/2008 8:11:55 PM)

I thought it was hilarious at times.  Gordon's Kitchen Nightmares and Harry Hill had me in fits of laughter.

filmburner30 -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (4/8/2008 8:12:53 AM)

Caught this by accident and found it really funny, The Ross Kemp skits were ace and so was the Constant piss take of Jonathan Ross introducing Ricky Gervais

Leeorami 2.0 -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (4/8/2008 9:32:14 AM)

Heart Disease!

filmburner30 -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (4/8/2008 9:34:38 AM)

also any show that kicks the shit out of the Daily Mail gets my vote.

love the Nursery squad thing too with the Big bad Wolf

wombathog -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (4/8/2008 12:17:50 PM)

Sorry but The Love Guru was funnier than this lame unoriginal guess the punchlines plop.
I saw the pilot a while back and was quite amused.  Didn't see the first one but saw Friday's.  It's just repeating the same gags over and over again.

And since when has that been a bad thing.  There are lots of comedies that do this but, this is best example I can think of at the moment.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...  The Fast Show.

Yes, but Kevin's jokes aren't funny once let alone on an infinite loop.

Diggler -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (5/8/2008 4:49:31 PM)

It's look as though I'm in the minority but I found this terrible. I do agree with an earlier poster though, his impression of Justin Lee Collins was spot on.

I'd be very surprised if this gets a 2nd series.

Mason Verger -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (7/8/2008 3:53:42 PM)

Programme 2 is repeated tonight at 11.45 and programme 3 is tomorrow night at 10.00.

BobaJango -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (9/8/2008 7:44:32 PM)

Some of the impressions were shite quite frankly. The Jeremy Paxman one just sounded like Victor Meldrew. The Tom Cruise and Christopher Walken ones were terrible as well.

honeykid -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (10/8/2008 1:01:49 AM)

Do the impressions really matter?  As long as you know who it's supposed to be (and the joke isn't dependent on the impression being spot on) then the joke still works doesn't it?  That is to say, that the joke stands or falls on the strength of the joke and not the accuracy of the impression.  I always thought it strange that some of the people who said this about Dead Ringers, would also praise Spitting Image.

The two things (quality of impression and quality of joke) should go hand in hand. I don't find a parody very clever or impressive if it doesn't even sound like the person.

Neth -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (10/8/2008 6:11:02 PM)

Caught this by accident on Friday night. Painfully, painfully unfunny. Look! He's Gordon Ramsey and he's swearing! Look! He's changed the name of those crisps to Walkens! Oh my! He's changed the "S" in Sony to an "F"!

Seriously. Eight year-olds can probably come up with better material than this.

Indio -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (10/8/2008 6:17:55 PM)

The only thing I've seen Kevein Bishop in is the films Pot Luck and Russian Dolls and he was an unfunny, obnoxious twat in both of those so it seems I haven't missed much by giving his TV series a wide berth.

Wilbert -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (15/8/2008 10:34:09 PM)

This show is one of the weakest I've ever seen. It was just on now and the pun detective found someone dead with their face in a bowl of frosties. He declared it the work of a cereal killer.

Apparently it takes two people to write this shite!

theoriginalcynic -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (15/8/2008 11:49:11 PM)

Terrible British humour - painfully unfunny

Isn't he in those annoying Natwest ads too?

MBeard -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (16/8/2008 11:19:35 AM)

I watched this for the first time last night.

I thought it would be damn awful, but was actually quite funny. I was just worried I wouldn't be able to distinguish when the show finishes and the ads start!

discodave101 -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (19/8/2008 11:57:47 AM)

I thought the first 2 episodes of this were hilarious, and was envisioning awards flooding its way in the future. I then tuned in to the 3rd episode, and I don't think I laughed out loud once throughout. I've yet to watch any more as a result of a shockingly bad 3rd episode to be honest, as I just figured after 2 shows he'd ran out of truly funny ideas.

Scruffybobby -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (3/1/2010 12:38:55 PM)

Just watched a few of these on 4 on demand, mostly just to see new Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan - who is in the supporting cast. She was probably one of the best things it, funny and sexy wnich bodes well for DW. It was very hit and miss overall, although to be fair some of the bits that worked were very funny there just weren't enough of them. The weakest link in the show is probably Bishop himself - who comes off as a smug twat ( admittedly he's probably meant to be most of the time) which just makes the whole thing a bit of a chore

Yes, because it's nice to see up-to-date comedy that doesn't use easy targets isn't it...

Kevin Bishop is an unfunny prick.

TheSpleen -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (1/2/2010 6:28:55 PM)

As shallow as it soumds i can't watch his shows because i saw an interview with him and thought he was the smuggest gimp i'd ever seen in an interview. Plus he was a nob at the british comedy awards.

LEEJGM -> RE: The Kevin Bishop Show (3/2/2010 9:00:21 AM)

Bishop playing up at the comedy awards was all put up.  Unfortunately it wasn't very funny - like a lot of his sketches.
