So guys I have been giving Scream 4 updates in the hope it may be good. Well I got a special update. The guy who is writing it is quite active on myspace and we have been msg one another. He seems cool and genuinely thrilled to have the chance to write it. He feels 3 never gave the series the send off it deserved and I agree. Basically he points out that Sid is a lead in both (Thats right he has done one script and another treatment) flicks, he's figured out a logical way to use the old characters and thats it really. Obviously it could be a load of shite if he gets the gig or ....he may not even get it. He seems cool and if his writing is good then maybe we could have a cool little flick.

That's awesome, great stuff! I personally would enjoy a fresh Scream movie, keep ghostface but have completely new characters. Two many movies suffer from 'thegangsallhereitis' and whilst it's pretty unheard of in the slasher genre, i think the Scream movies did suffer from it a bit, but hey.

I have sitting on top of my TV waitig a watch Simon Says (with Crispin Glover) and Dark Ride. I've seen almost all of Dak Ride before and really enjoyed what i saw and am looking forward to Simon Says after hearing good things from www.hysteria-lives.co.uk I also obtained Prom Night remake and only found out yesterday there had been a remake of mid 80's slasher April Fools Day in 2008!!! Must get round to buying a copy

Halloweenfreak -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (25/7/2008 6:50:47 AM)

To tell you the truth I really enjoyed Dark Ride as well....there's something creepy bout being trapped in a funhouse with a psychopathic serial killer wearing a cut out dolls face as a mask he looked awesome [;)] and some of the deaths were cool

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (26/7/2008 11:24:06 PM)

Bozz you nailed it, All the boys love Mandy Lane is superb

The REAL Bozz -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (27/7/2008 1:11:02 PM)

Im so glad you liked it mate. I honest have not been more floored by a slasher film since the classics. It's just so dense. I love how there is no real explanation yet it's obvious why the events take place.

have anyone seen this one? [:D]
Very fun for slasher fans, really cheap and with a very colorful premise: some modern day guys end up in a some kind of 80's slasher camp parallel dimmension.

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (28/7/2008 3:39:24 PM)

Hmmmm Amazon and ebay turn up no evidence of this move whatsoever, is it known by a different title at all?

The REAL Bozz -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (28/7/2008 6:28:27 PM)

Camp Slaughter I think and it's meant to have somthing crazy like 30+ onscreen kills. Made on the cheap though.

Halloweenfreak -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (1/8/2008 7:23:21 AM)

Sounds awesome

tommyjarvis -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (1/8/2008 6:12:00 PM)

I just watched Sleepaway Camp last night. The ending = WTF?

Amusing though.

Halloweenfreak -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (1/8/2008 7:06:08 PM)

One of my favourite films that is...the other two are awesome...your right bout the ending [;)]

Sleepaway Camp is fantastic stuff. One of my most quotable movies. so many great lines, love it.

What have i been watching recently? Well i went crazy on Amazon buying some cheap DVDs from Caimin and other sellers etc. So sunday saw 'Doom Asylum' a very cheesy 1988 slasher which i highly recommend for the gore factor and cheese factor. I followed that up with 'Memorial Valley Massacre' AKA 'Valley of Death' another late 80's slasher with just as much cheese, and finally 'The Last Slumber Party' a super cheapo effort, again from the late 80's. Total shit but all the more entertaining for it.

I find i always split my slashers in to two camps. The genuinely good and the so cheesy they're good.

The REAL Bozz -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (6/8/2008 12:27:38 PM)

Someone needs to reccomend some lost gems I may have over looked. Obviously I've seen all the Jasons, Freddy's, Halloween, TCM's, Scream's, IKWUDLS, Urban Legends, Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3, The Prowler, Madman Mars, Behind The Mask, Mandy Lane etc.

Any nuggets from the 80s I may have missed?

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (6/8/2008 1:33:25 PM)

I'll sort you out a list of 'must sees' this evening when i get home Bozz. That list would start with My Bloody valentine from 1981 i believe. Available on DVD and if you ebay it and ur lucky, a lovely VHS pre-cert could be out there somewhere waiting for you.

The REAL Bozz -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (6/8/2008 11:29:20 PM)

Thanks mate

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (7/8/2008 2:44:47 PM)

Sorry got a bit side-tracked. OK must see early 80's gems are as follows, to start with at least:

My Bloody Valentine
Hell Night
The Prowler (Rosemary's Killer)
Just Before Dawn
Tourist Trap
Prom Night
Terror Train
The Burning
Final Exam
The Final Terror
Funhouse
Humongous
Curtains
Madman

That's a pretty sweet list to start with. IMO those are all must see's for any slasher fan. There are many, many more, but get hold of those first at least. I'll knock some up from the late 80's at some point too.

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (8/8/2008 2:36:41 PM)

Cheerleader Camp (AKA Bloody Pom Poms) arrived in the post today. Nice Region 1 Anchor Bay release. Not watched it yet. Anyone else seen this late 80's apparent cheesy gem?

Halloweenfreak -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (9/8/2008 5:41:11 PM)

I've heard of this film...is it worth checking out considering I love cheap and high-budget slasher movies?

kdawg -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (11/8/2008 3:43:23 PM)

Guys! Hatchet blows Mandy Lane out of the water....so retro and hilarious.

Out of that lot I've only seen Terror Train, The Burning and My Bloody Valentine, of varying quality. Isn't The Prowler made by the same guy who directed Friday the 13th Part IV?

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (11/8/2008 6:14:05 PM)

yes that is correct, Joe Zito, the region 1 has a commentary by him and tom savini which is great.
Deffo available on DVD are:

Hell night
Just Before Dawn
Tourist Trap
Funhouse
Madman
Prom Night

Waaaaaaaaait a sec, are you saying Terror Train, My Bloody Valentine and he Burning are of varying quality???? They're all classics!!! My Bloody Valentine and The Burning are 2 of the best slashers ever made!!!

tommyjarvis -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (11/8/2008 10:42:37 PM)

The Burning I quite liked, My Bloody Valentine was alright, Terror Train is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Sorry.[8D]

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (11/8/2008 11:03:54 PM)

oh tommy you make me weep dude!!!! I love Terror Train but fair enough if you dont like it, but MBV and The Burning, oh man!!!!!!!!! Call yourself a slasher fan!!! Next you'll be saying that Halloween is just ok and Friday the 13th was kinda boring lol. JK

The REAL Bozz -> RE: THE SLASHER MOVIE FAN CLUB (12/8/2008 10:05:54 AM)

This will keep any slasher fan happy,a nice take on the 80's slasher movies with it's own nasty twisted story line.A killer with a ronald Regan mask on a killing spree in a hippy camp, and it's so much fun to watch.
And for those like me that miss the 80's here's a classic that needs your un dieing love, with great gore effects in the uncut version a must see for any Slasher fan.

Sleepaway Camp is really funny stuff, I really love the language and has a very cool ending [:D] Also, I'm not to forget the curling iron scene [:D] Didn't have the chance to watch any of the sequels.

I own the haunting but stll haven't watched it [&:]

Both the tripper and I warned you... look like very cool watches.
