tallaght24 -> Crying shame, (27/5/2008 8:41:49 AM)

Ace director, ace actor. Will be missed.

Biggus -> RE: Crying shame, (27/5/2008 9:03:39 AM)

RIP Sydney Pollack. A great loss.

Greg Andrew -> He will be sadly missed (27/5/2008 9:20:29 AM)

This is deeply sad news. It feels like just yesterday he was in the cameoing in the Sopranos.

A great actor and director he will be sadly missed.

waltham1979 -> (27/5/2008 9:21:56 AM)

genuinley a bit gutted about this; really good director and actor - will be missed !!

Bruce Vain -> I always liked this man (27/5/2008 9:23:23 AM)

Didn't even know he was ill. Directed some great movies (Tootsie is in my top 10) and was always dependable for playing what could be stock roles with real depth, darkness, but always with a sense of fun running through as well. This man was movies personified to me, as a director as well as an actor.

Acho -> Very sad news (27/5/2008 9:29:09 AM)

He was such a presence in the cinema landscape. Still going strong until recently too.

Najemikon -> (27/5/2008 9:38:59 AM)

A great loss. Both as actor and director he always produced understated consistent quality and never felt the need to shout about it. My favourite film of his is The Yakuza with Robert Mitchum.

badassmofo -> RE: (27/5/2008 9:54:56 AM)

A real surprise and very depressing news. A big loss to American filmmaking and I have to say its very depressing that it would seem his last role was Made of Honour

TufnellStHubbins -> (27/5/2008 10:20:52 AM)

I only got into his work recently what with Michael Clayton and all but he seemed like a great supporting artist both as an actor and as a producer. He will be terribly missed in Hollywood...

AboyNamedSue -> Ah shit (27/5/2008 10:41:24 AM)

I loved that man - an incredible director and true man of cinema. He'll be sorely missed at the multiplex.

tomcat -> (27/5/2008 11:17:02 AM)

A great all rounder and a real loss in front of and behind the camera. Given that his producing partner was Anthony Minghella, this is a sad year for their company as well.

Ethanial -> One can only hope (27/5/2008 11:23:36 AM)

That the deaths in the film industry will stop half way through the year, it is already way too much for it's own good, Heath, Anthony, Sydney, so so sad.

tallaght24 -> Re: (27/5/2008 1:41:21 PM)

The fuckin talent that is dying this year is such a shame.

DannyCiello -> Re: (27/5/2008 7:22:19 PM)

A class act - he'll be sadly missed. Three Days of the Condor one of the very best Seventies thrillers. Recently he practically defined the role of ruthlessly pragmatic power broker in Eyes Wide Shut and Changing Lanes, as well as Michael Clayton.

Mycroft -> RE: Re: (27/5/2008 7:48:39 PM)

Damn, a favorite of mine. Confident, smart filmmaker and always gave genuinely intimidating performances

Sphinx -> RE: Re: (27/5/2008 9:58:50 PM)

Damn good director, great pity!

Kazuya -> RE: Sydney Pollack Dies At 73 (29/5/2008 1:14:25 PM)

A sad loss, Pollack was an excellent director, and quite a good actor as well. Rest in peace.

jamesbondguy -> RE: Sydney Pollack Dies At 73 (1/6/2008 12:46:16 PM)

Sad news- I only just found out about it today. RIP.
