stone25 -> (28/4/2008 11:20:49 AM)

el gordo will deliver. no doubts about it.

doctorolorinbats1975 -> (28/4/2008 11:39:44 AM)

I didn't doubt McKellen and Serkis would return, the latter person is already staying in New Zealand to shoot Jackson and Spielberg's Tintin, so he'll be staying on Kiwi mo-cap stages for a while.

Karl Crutchley -> Hmmm (28/4/2008 11:40:37 AM)

So this 2nd Hobbit film is not based on any of JRR Tolkiens work then? Hmmmm . The books worked fine without a 2nd Hobbit book, so all this looks like to me is the movie studios trying to cash in. Either that or trying to dumb the series down so certain audiences can make the link between The Hobbit & LOTR. (in the same way that Schindlers Ark became Schindlers List in case certain audiences thought it had something to do with Indy and Raiders....)

shawshank prisoner -> (28/4/2008 11:48:17 AM)

the forum's still dead!!

steveg66 -> (28/4/2008 11:58:17 AM)

An animatronic Smaug won't work! That's the whole point of CGI, realism! That's why 10-20 years ago LOTR wasn't possible to make as SFX realism wasn't up to the job. Ref: Animatronic Yoda to CGI Yoda.

It shouldn't be. We put a load of 50p pieces in the meter and it's working fine here. There are new posts in there today, so I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

livewire -> Great News but the Forum still dead (28/4/2008 12:17:37 PM)

I'm having similar issues. i.e. I can't get to the forum. Please help. will donate 50p if necessary

lukeyboy -> (28/4/2008 12:18:58 PM)

Forums still knackered for me too!...I

shool -> (28/4/2008 12:20:02 PM)

Forums knackered for me too.

Great news about this casting though.

dave_0989 -> At last (28/4/2008 12:21:02 PM)

I'm so happy at the prospect of del toro directing the hobbut he has the same weird imagination that jackson has so it'll be fun them to working together.

I'm glad that he wants to bring back Ian Mckellen and Andy Serkis and all of the actors who played the parts in rings

he has the right idea and with enough freedom and money i think that he will make the films absolutely brilliant and rightful prequels to the rings

i am already anticipating these films highly, so at the mo bring hellboy II

Felix -> (28/4/2008 12:24:41 PM)

Yep, forum is knackered for me too.

What other characters from LOTR feature in The Hobbit then?

Felix -> (28/4/2008 12:25:05 PM)

...apart from Bilbo of course.

rikkie -> Dead as a parrot (28/4/2008 12:26:04 PM)

Olly, the forum's totally dead for me too. You can probably see it as the error is: "Variable is undefined: 'IPBlockedMessage' /forum/session.asp, line 38" which probably means it's IP specific. But it's been dead for most of us (me included) since Friday, and we can only communicate on the Have Your Say bits. Cheers, Rikkie

boove -> (28/4/2008 12:26:38 PM)

the forum is just blank for me as well. nothing happens.

interesting about the animatronic angle...

i can not see how that will work with the dragon unless they use it cleverly like in jurassic park. so close ups of the head etc are animatronic but shots of the thing flying are CGI. that would work nicely. would help the actors react better as well.

Scruffybobby -> hmmm (28/4/2008 12:42:15 PM)

Great to have the cast back on board and I like the whole animatronic idea. Not sure sure about this "integral" follow up thingy though. If it's completely new then it can't really be integral can it?

Forum is also still banjaxed for me -at home and at work.

Fanboyslayer -> (28/4/2008 12:44:18 PM)

Yep forums knackered for me too.
Great news on the casting. I'm very interested in what will go on in the second film as well. Fingers crossed they can get everyone back on board.

kumar -> (28/4/2008 12:47:36 PM)

yeah its been dead for me for days. help me Olly, my life is in shatters :(

shool -> (28/4/2008 1:24:34 PM)

Great news about this casting though.

vernieboy -> (28/4/2008 1:26:45 PM)

Definately looking forward to the Hobbit slightly more aprehensive about the bridging film but good to hear that some of the old cast of LOTR are going to be involved.

Oh yeah haven't been able to get on the forum at all this weekend and today as well!

ilovekaren -> (28/4/2008 1:40:47 PM)

i just let out a little yelp of excitment

Larry of Arabia -> (28/4/2008 2:18:53 PM)

What am I suppsoed to do until the forum's fixed, speak to real people?

pottynoodles -> (28/4/2008 2:23:06 PM)

can anyone explain the point of the seond Hobbit film please? would they not just film the Silmarillion?

shool -> (28/4/2008 2:39:12 PM)

Hey Larry, I am a real person. I guess I'm going to actually have to do some work now then.

Olly Richards -> RE: (28/4/2008 2:51:21 PM)

All those having problems accessing the forum, please try it again now. Hopefully it should be working.

For all those wanting to discuss the Hobbit news, carry on as you were.

skeletonjack -> Still no forum (28/4/2008 2:58:14 PM)

...at least I still can't get on it. Back on topic, the idea of Smaug being done in a Jurassic Stylee is certainly a mouthwatering prospect, if it's done well it'll be awesome

Kazuya -> (28/4/2008 2:58:50 PM)

What the fuck is up with the forum? I haven't been able to log on for days??

Olly Richards -> RE: (28/4/2008 3:03:12 PM)

Try again now. It's slightly possible that I hit the wrong button and banned almost all of the forum by accident. But I prefer to believe that this is just a rumour and it was in fact just the fault of this gremlin I've just pulled from the system and beaten to death.
