I love this film, great script and wonderful acting, you can watch it again and again and it's still holds up.

Workshed -> The Coen brother's best movie (5/1/2006 3:38:45 PM)

Perfect film. One of the best comedies ever. Brilliant characters and endlessly quotable lines.

The Mighty Quinn -> The Big Lebowski (5/1/2006 6:44:22 PM)

I actually didn't like this the first time I saw, but I gave it another chance and aren't I glad I did! A quite simply superb film which improves on every viewing. The lead characters are excellent and it has one of the greatest cameos ever, in the form of John Tuturro's Jesus Quintana.
 It was a travesty that it wasn't included in Channel 4's 50 Greatest Comedies. 5/5

doncobaino -> The Big Lebowsk (3/4/2006 1:14:37 AM)

Genius- one of the greatest comedies of all time? a film that when you first watch it you actually might not get it but after a further viewing something clicks and the beauty of this film becomes apparent. Thus begins hours upon hours of conversations with work collegues about best Coen brothers film so far!! buy it, watch it, watch it again, love it!

SpiderFanUK -> A genius concept with some of the best characters in a movie for years! (3/4/2006 11:39:01 AM)

I absolutely adore this film. For the past 7 years i`ve been captured again and again by it. Ya just have to love "They peed on my fucking rug." "Thats right dude... they peed on your fucking rug."

coolrex16 -> You cannot, not love this movie... (9/4/2006 11:34:20 PM)

The Coen Brothers are on higher than top form with this darkly comic, perfectly writen and performed masterpiece. There is no doubt that you'll be quoting this for decades to come, and 'The Dude' is one of films greatest creations. But it's not just Jeff Bridges' stand out performance, his entire supporting cast is second to none. Goodman, Moore, Buscemi and, although it's only really a cameo role, Turturro all shine bright.
This movie, along with the likes of Fargo and Raising Arizona, has cemented the Coens into film making history.

We watched this more times than was healthy when I was a student. Even so, I can still watch this and it feels fresh and seems to get funnier with time. Big Lebowski rates as one of favourite films of all time!
I'll probably end up buying this special edition even though I already have the 'vanilla' disc, I was really hoping for a better batch of extras though.

OMGWTFBBQ -> Very funny! (3/7/2006 9:30:51 PM)

This movie was very funny and a true joy to watch. It had plenty of memorable moments such as the bit where our heroes (if you can all them that) go looking for their stollen car you must watch to find out what happens but i can promise it is funny. The characters are also amazing espeacially Jesus a enemy of the main character the dude who loves bowling. I really do recommned it to fans of comedy and black humour beacause it is one of the most funniest things i have seen!

huny_monster -> (4/8/2006 2:41:35 PM)

Amazing. Its hilarious and fun at same time as being dark and mysterious.

m_er -> (28/9/2006 6:25:17 AM)

Loved it. A movie that cheers me up every time I check it out.

i007_Bond_007i -> (28/9/2006 9:54:38 AM)

Great performances all round from the actors, and an interesting story. Very very clever dream sequences too.

willchadwick -> (25/4/2007 8:27:13 PM)

A film that has endless lines of laugh out loud dialogue and the main character superb carried off by Jeff Bridges

Ace Rothstein -> Great stuff (26/5/2007 12:01:19 AM)

Laidback, hilarious, witty and beautifully effortless, this masterpiece is one of the Coens most popular films and deservedley so. While offensive, the film is lovable due to its warth, colourful characters and eccentricities. Whether its their best is debatable but there's nothing quite like the Big lebowski for laidback entertainment.

casino -> (22/9/2007 3:04:41 PM)

One of the best comedy's i have ever seen!!! this is also one of the best Coen brothers films they have made so far not quite as good as Fargo but still a masterpiece!!!

claudemg -> I loved it but i don't know why! (8/3/2008 11:03:10 PM)

I honestly love this film. It has awesome dialogue, rich with quirks nuances and lou-out-loud humour. Visually, it is stunning (that bowling ball cam was brilliant) and even it's tone is original. You will never see another movie like this....But...what is it about? the plot is confusing - but i'm sure it's intentional. I have a feeling we are not meant to get a traditional 'connecting of the dots' if you will...and perhaps...that is exactly what i love about this film. who knows.

DanCurley -> RE: I loved it but i don't know why! (7/4/2008 5:30:12 PM)

Only got around to watching this t'other night, thought it was fucking top. Only even thought of watching it after reading after this piece on a music blog about a convention that came to London last month...

t_bell -> The Dude Abides (13/4/2008 3:41:45 PM)

The scene where the ashes are 'disposed' off is just pure genius. The poignancy and sadness combined with the general laugh-out-loud humour makes for a truly unforgettable scene.
The Big Lebowski is a film I wont be forgetting in a long time.

nc_jj -> The Big Fucking Lebowski. (22/4/2008 4:13:13 PM)

There's nothing else to say. An instant classic. Perfect, dude.

Beehive Spirit -> dude (9/9/2008 10:17:34 PM)

loved it

Tony Montana -> Fuck it Dude, lets go bowling!!!! (22/9/2008 1:05:09 PM)

If you don't like this movie then you're a numpty!!!!!

TheHazman -> Saw this for the first time yesterday (25/9/2008 4:38:38 PM)

And it was Amazing. Probably some of the best casting I have ever seen and some classic comedy momments!

fug91 -> The average user score is totally broken. (16/11/2008 9:09:02 PM)

Clearly this thing can't work out averages. Brilliant brilliant film.

tallaght24 -> Weird and wonderful! (30/3/2009 12:44:11 PM)

When I first watched this I didn't like it. Didn't find it funny. Yet I felt compelled to watch it more and more till I loved it. This is a film that demands multiple viewings, you will see and hear things so subtle it's almost a certainty that you missed them first time round. An utterly amazing piece of entertainment, endlessly quoteable!

!xHoTRoDx! -> That' opinion, man. (9/9/2009 11:36:06 PM)

This is my second favourite Coen Broother's movie (1st being Raising Arizona). I love the bit with the board nailed to the floor propping the chair under the door handle. Along with Tarantino, Speilberg, and Eastwood, the Coen bros are very high up there in the list of my favourite directors!

S1lent B0b -> The Godfather can't refuse this offer (15/9/2009 4:50:47 PM)

If you don't like this movie your life is devoid of meaning. Best movie EVER!!!!

Smootle -> (20/9/2009 2:32:46 PM)

The dude is my God. I follow in his footsteps as muh as I can. I am jobless, have a rug that really ties the room together, and I LOVE creedence. Now and again I'll do something that'll make me feel particularly dudish - like say to the man down at the job centre - well, that's just like, your opinion man.

More than a film really. Think of it as a bible in film format. Best watched whilst drinking a white russian.

Hymers2k9 -> I AM A DUDEIST! (23/9/2009 9:54:26 AM)

Go to and become an honorary dudeist, how awesome man

Kieran94 -> The Coens' Best-Brilliant (3/1/2010 12:13:33 PM)

Hilarious, genius, intelligent, lovable. If you do not love this film you do not love movies. Walter and the Dude, and even Donnie, are some of the greatest characters in cinema history

charlee676 -> Incredible!!!!!!! (8/3/2010 7:04:02 PM)

The best movie I've ever seen, Empire is right the coens are the best directors ever
