Illidan Bloodstorme or something in Burning Crusade. Is there a final boss in the regular game as well?

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (8/1/2010 8:55:47 PM)

To be honest, I don't know.
I never saw any of the endgame from the regular game (vanilla WoW as it's known).
Some of the others who've posted here were raiders so they'll know more about it than I do. There are websites that go into the lore of it all

Chojin -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/10/2010 12:30:59 PM)

Anyone still on this?

trying to get my head round the game really. I've started as......

sanchia -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/10/2010 12:54:59 PM)

I used to play it and understand there is a further expansion coming out in a couple of months.

I gave up about a year ago once the fun leeches got too much for me. It became far to similar to a Youtube comment section there with either immature idiots being insulting and unpleasant or the obsessive players swearing at you and criticising because you hadn't spent 20 hours working out the precise skill point allocation and the hit rate caps and your armour wasn't top tier and you hadn't run all the instances (although you couldn't anyway because those running the groups demanded you link the achievement proving you had completed it previously before they would let you join the group resulting in a Catch 22),

To be honest I don't miss it. Hopefully you are on a server which isn't full of idiots and can enjoy it and have some fun with the game which is after all what it should be. Just watch out with security as I was hacked and I know of two other people who still play and recently had their accounts hacked. blizzard always blame the player for letting a trojan or key logger give away the account but I think their security is a but flawed as at the time I was hacked I hadn't even played it for three months.

Anyway, vent over.

not bad so far - i'm still not convinced i'll start paying for it once the month is up. But, until then i'll be giving it my all so that I can at least say I gave it a go.

I joined up with a 'guild' and a 'group' today and tbh they were all very patient with me and didn't get angry when I didn't know how to do something. It was fun enough but because you can't complete quests in a group it really annoyed me. i.e collect 6 x generic item. Only one of you gets the credit for picking it up...

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/10/2010 5:47:44 PM)

I still play and still enjoy it, been a bit of a lull lately while everyone's waiting for Cataclysm (which is due on the 7th of Dec) but the recent Hallow's End holiday stuff has kept things ticking over.

(as an aside, if this is the kind of MMO that appeals can I point you in the direction of Guild Wars 2 - it's not due out until next year but the trailers and gameplay recordings on Youtube look superb)

20 levels in one weekend - is this bad?

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (31/10/2010 11:30:31 PM)

It gets slower!
Especially if you need to sleep or eat...

By the way, if you want to take a screenshot without the UI there you can toggle it on or off with Alt-Z

Kilo_T_Mortal -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (3/11/2010 6:47:27 PM)

Oooooh tweak my wow addiction again won't you?

Bascially it's the most challenging game in existance and also the most rewarding as well as the most frustrating. When you finally get to the peak though, it's amazingly satisfying. It will all come down to your guild and the people in it. Fall in with a nice bunch and you'll do well. A nice bunch that raid is good. Problem comes when you want to raid high end stuff, nice people tend to get less and less and you're stuck with very professional types. That can be fine as well, but it's hard to stay in your old nice guild and move on to higher level content.

Still great times, been off it for a year or more but would love to go back to it at some point. Who knows....

Will cost you your life though if you really want to make it.

Interesting aside, I once got sex from playing wow.

This makes the 100's of hours worth it.

I'm only going to play for the free month and then uninstall it. I know that I won't be able to help myself becoming hopelessly addicted to it. I'm already waking up in the middle of the night and getting a quick 30 minute stint in here and there. It's addictive stuff.

What Kilo forgot to mention though was it was with another dude.

At least he had chicken.

Chief -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (4/11/2010 10:53:03 AM)

Surely once you've had sex you're not allowed to play WoW anymore?

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (12/12/2010 6:36:41 PM)

No one playing Cataclysm then...?

sanchia -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (12/12/2010 7:23:19 PM)

Unless they have got rid of the "Your point disribution is not right we aren't going play with you", "You don't have the achievment already we aren't going to play with you", "Your armour isn't the best in the game we aren't going to play with you" attitude which has permeated the game and brought back the fun I don't think I will bother.

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (19/12/2010 2:27:28 PM)

I'm playing and loving it!
Got my boomkin up to 82, still questing through Vashj'ir, and got a Worgen warrior up to 20. They really have done an outstanding job reworking the old world

kata -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (19/12/2010 4:15:42 PM)

How much does it cost for someone brand new to get going?

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (19/12/2010 5:43:11 PM)

Well you can have a 10 day trial for nowt, either as a download from Blizzard or from someone else who has the discs. Expect to do a lot of downloading to start with though before it'll actually play.

If you want to continue you'll need to buy a copy of the original game (either digitally on the WoW website or from any game retailer). This will give you the original game's 2 continents, a level cap of 60 and the original 8 races (Night Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Orc, Troll, Undead and Tauren). Each expansion is a separate purchase (and they're sequential - you can't get Wrath of the Lich King if you don't have Burning Crusade and so on).
Currently on Amazon, original WoW is 5.75, the Burning Crusade expansion is 6.49 and Wrath of the Lich King is a tenner. The latest expansion, Cataclysm, is still up at 22.
You get the first 30 days after buying it free, after that it's 9 a month. And your soul.

You can get someone who plays the game to refer you, gives you a boost to levelling speed if you're with them in game (and they get a fancy 2-seater mount if you sign up).

Edit: Just noticed Amazon had this http://www.amazon.co.uk/World-Warcraft-Battlechest-PC-Mac/dp/B000WDZT9M/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1292780020&sr=1-2
That's original WoW and the Burning Crusade expansion for 7.

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (22/10/2011 3:13:25 PM)

So, Flangebags (not like anyone but us on here ever plays this anymore [:D]), what do you think of the announcement of the next expansion??

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (24/10/2011 8:52:43 PM)

I am in two minds (I've also been playing LOTRO and DCUO more lately, as it happens!).
On the one hand, the landscapes of Pandaria look beautiful, the Monk sounds like an interesting class and I'm digging the new talent system, The new scenarios sounds kinda interesting as well (and not unlike the LOTRO skirmishes).
On the other hand...pandas. I'm not sold on the pandas. Will need to try them really.
As for PokeWoW...I guess it'll be good for some people but it's not something I'm going to do much with.

Will it be enough to keep people interested in the face of games like SWTOR and GW2? Well, that's the multi-million dollar question!

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (25/10/2011 5:15:26 PM)

I seem to be in a minority but I really don't mind the pandas as a playable race, just not keen on the entire expansion being built around them, seems too comical after Arthas and Deathwing. Wish they were alliance only and horde got Murlocs too ;)

As someone who typically plays Horde...[sm=mad45.gif]
But I do agree that it seems a bit of a weak hook for a whole expansion. That said, we don't know everything yet and the reports I've read from people who were able to get hands on at Blizzcon have been very positive. Granted, if they're at Blizzcon in the first place then there may well be a certain amount of fanboy bias, but still...

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (27/9/2012 7:18:29 AM)

So, Flangey, what do you think?? [:D]

I'm quite pleasantly surprised so far, massive improvement on Cata!!!

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (28/9/2012 9:17:43 PM)

I must confess, although I have bought it I haven't actually played it yet.
I'm looking forward to trying out a Pandaren Monk and exploring the new contintent but I've been too busy playing Guild Wars 2!
Gonna fire it up this weekend though, take a fat panda out for a spin

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/9/2012 6:00:05 PM)

It has been setup to level monks fast, level 20 you get access to dailies that give you buffs for 50% extra xp!?!?

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/9/2012 7:29:50 PM)

50% extra? If that stacks with the heirloom bonuses then you might as well not bother with the levelling process at all!

I've taken a monk up to level 12. I like the pandas, the Wandering Isle is cool, but the combat's very WoW - feels a bit dull after all these years.
I like the pet battles though, I can see them being very addictive

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (30/9/2012 10:58:07 PM)

It does, the buff lasts an hour and becomes a challenge to see how many levels you can do in the hour :P

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (1/10/2012 7:42:47 PM)

I was wondering how my mate had already got his monk up to the mid-50s. I just assumed he'd been mainlining Red Bull and playing every hour that he could!

Base -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (2/10/2012 5:39:02 PM)

I got mine to mid-30's mainly over the weekend, it's taken a week to get my 85 rogue up 2 levels!! It is a grind getting to 90!!!!

On the other hand, do all quests in Jade Forest, even when levelled up, the story is epic!

FlangeBags -> RE: WRATH OF THE LICH KING! (2/10/2012 8:08:07 PM)

My 85 Horde druid is just in the start part of Jade Forest. So far it's just been collecting barrels and killing smoking cats for a village of pissed off pandas.

I have a growing addiction to pet battles - I see that little green paw print on my mini-map and to hell with whatever quest I'm on, the critter will be mine!
