Mad Dog Tannen -> Jude Law? Natalie Portman? Norah Jones? (24/1/2008 4:47:24 PM)

The horror! ... the horror!

I've seen it and think it's weaker than most of WKW's previous work though not his worst. I rate it 7 out of 10. Just.

What's wrong with Portman (who is smokin btw)? I'm not a big fan of Law granted but surely reserve judgement on Norah Jones until you have a point of reference

like i said, iv heard really good things about norah jones, and remember how he cast faye wong in chungking express and she was the standout of that. anyway she was a popstar and look how well that turned out.

FYI, to the person doing the review for Empire.
This is a different version from the one that premiered at Cannes last year.
After a lot of negative reviews, mostly with regards to the 'slow' pacing, director Wong Kar-wai personally cut 15 minutes from the film, including some voiceover narration.

Acho -> Changed from Cannes (25/1/2008 6:50:37 PM)

...I remember reading pretty muted reviews after its Cannes screening, so glad to hear it's been tightened up a bit. Assuming, of course, the new editing is an improvement!

And yay to Strathairn appearing on the poster!

Jeffrey -> RE: Changed from Cannes (31/1/2008 5:50:12 PM)

The film received 3 stars in the latest issue of Empire magazine.
