Harry Lime -> Hall of Fame: THE RULES AND FAQ'S (8/11/2007 7:16:07 PM)

COUNCIL MEMBERS:

The council is made up of twelve members, split into three groups of four. These groups are...

Lifetime Members: Posters with a permanant place on the council. Their role is to organise and direct the council to ensure each term is run smoothly. The lifetime members are homersimpson_esq, Rawlinson, elab49 and TRM.

Long Term Members: Posters whose term on the council lasts one year (four votes). Any member of this forum can nominate themselves to be a long term member.

Short Term Members: Posters whose term on council last three months (one vote). Short term members ensure that fresh perspectives are brought to the table at every vote. Any member of the forum can nominate themselves to be a short term member.

NOMINATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

A nomination thread will be started in which the nominations are announced.

- FILM TITLE (YEAR, DIRECTOR)

- PHOTO

- TEXT OF 300-500 WORDS. TO CONTAIN A BRIEF OUTLINE, REVIEW AND EXPLANATION WHY IT SHOULD BE GIVEN A PLACE IN THE HALL OF FAME.

- NOMINATED BY: NAME OF COUNCIL MEMBER

ACCEPTABLE FILMS:

The whole point of this Hall of Fame is to provide an ongoing list of high quality that has been selected and voted upon with freedom of thought. There is not any reason why somebody can not choose any film that they wish; be it Citizen Kane or Howard The Duck! Council members are invited to join from all across the forum because we were looking for this diversity of choice. If one of member feels that a film is  worth a place in the Hall of Fame then all Council members must at least have the courtesy and humility to give it as much benefit of doubt as they would give any other film. Ultimately, it is the council's job to whittle down the great from the good from the bad and the voting procedures (as well as intelligent debate) will do this.

The same film cannot be nominated twice in one year.

VOTING PROCEDURES:

The selection of an inductee shall be decided over three rounds.

First Round:

12 Films. A PR vote in order from favourite to 6th favourite. Points to be awarded as such:

1st Choice: 10 Pts
2nd Choice: 8 Pts
3rd Choice: 6 Pts
4th Choice: 4 Pts
5th Choice: 2 Pts
6th Choice: 1 Pt

Please list all 12 films in preferential order.

Second Round:

6 Films. A PR vote in order from favourite to least favourite. Points to be awarded exactly as First Round.

Final Round:

3 Films. A PR vote in order from favourite to least favourite. Points to be awarded as such...

1st Choice: 5 Pts
2nd Choice: 3 Pts
3rd Choice 1 Pt

The winner shall be the film with the most points. In the unlikely even of a tie, the film (out of the ones in deadlock) with the most points over ALL rounds will be declared the winner.

If that still fails to produce a winner (very, very unlikely) then I think that it should be down to which film has collected most "first choices" overall.  If that still fails to seperate them then we move down to most "second choices". And so on and so on.

Forum Votes:

Members of the entire forum will be given a vote equal to a council members vote in each of the three rounds. A poll will be set up alongside each round of voting and points will be awarded as outlined above.

THE HALL OF FAME:

Just one film every quarter will be inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame. The council member who nominated that film will be expected to write a detailed essay on the film including plot outline, critical analysis, actor/director essays and other assorted joys. A Hall of Fame will be set up to contain these essays.

VOTING:

All votes are to be sent for the attention of Matty_B and Gimli The Dwarf to this email address hofvotes@googlemail.com PMs will no longer be accepted as they can easily be missed.

A ten year cut off is currently placed upon the nominations.

Both of these rules are to be reviewed.

There has been some debate in particular as to whether a ten year cut off should be placed upon the nominations. It is a contentious and controversial point and it will be given a thorough discussion in council as to whether we remove the limit for subsequent HoF votes.

Funkyrae -> RE: Hall of Fame: THE RULES AND FAQ'S (18/4/2010 9:30:48 AM)

The revision of these rules has taken place and agreed that a film should not be nominated twice in the same year. However this does NOT mean that it cannot be nominated again after the year has ended.

The ten year rule has been lifted.
