I thought the idea behind remakes is to bring a new take to a story for a new generation, not cast someone whose old enough to have done it first time round

Jexxon -> (5/11/2007 8:55:23 AM)

Didn't he already kind of try this with Get Carter? And look how good that turned out ... Why waste time and money on something like a Death Wish remake?

the ageless stranger -> And..... (5/11/2007 9:20:08 AM)

....didn't they more or less remake Death Wish about a month ago as Death Sentence?

LEEJGM -> RE: And..... (5/11/2007 9:55:45 AM)

It's Burma in John Rambo, not Malaysia!

I heard that the Brave One (Jodie Foster) was sort of a Death Wish remake too but I haven't seen it yet.

dunkah -> (5/11/2007 10:19:39 AM)

He's really starting to clutch at straws, poor fucker....

Hughezy -> (5/11/2007 10:25:07 AM)

Tim_Bisley -> First Blood (5/11/2007 10:39:29 AM)

Surely Sly could kill two birds with one stone and just call his new movie RAMBO : Death Wish........ works for me :P

ORIGINAL: CameronJames

The plot of Deathwish is of a man in late middle age turning to vigilantism. So the actor needs to be in his mid forties at least.

JagLover -> RE: (5/11/2007 11:35:53 AM)

this is gona be Rambo In The City

and why not. I love Vigliante movies myself.

Time to gun down all those hoodies.

Adrian -> you asked for this Empire... you mentioned Winner (5/11/2007 1:16:30 PM)

*puts on best Michael Winer impression* now, now... calm down dears, it's just a remake... I'm actually a very good director.

and also... Stallone's gonna joust and make merry with donkeys? that film gets weirder and weirder. or as that mad kid Alice'd say, curiouser and curiouser.

coomi01 -> Make it REAAAALLLLLLYYY Violent (5/11/2007 2:19:41 PM)

and yeah, I'll pay money to see it.

John Firth -> (5/11/2007 7:35:52 PM)

I love Death Wish. Is a remake really warranted though? Given the way society has changed over the three decades since it came out, a reworking could do well. Of course, there have been many sequels and rip-offs of it over the years, so any impact may be reduced. The Death Wish name, though, has a certain notoriety to it. We'll see.

Kazuya -> RE: Sly Has A Death Wish (6/11/2007 12:04:26 PM)

By all accounts, this doesn't sound like an appealing project, Sly rehashing an old franchise that was never good to begin with, and he's doing it from a script by the guys who did T3..but I'm still moderately interested regardless, being a major fan of Stallone, so what the hell. Bring on the bodies.

The Hooded Man -> RE: Sly Has A Death Wish (6/11/2007 4:47:08 PM)

Get Carter?
Get fucked.

Rgirvan44 -> RE: Sly Has A Death Wish (6/11/2007 5:04:17 PM)

I'd be more excited if this was a remake of Death Wish 3.

directorscut -> Give us what we all really want Sly... (6/11/2007 5:17:44 PM)

leroythemasochist -> (6/11/2007 7:00:38 PM)

Gotta love him! Yeah, it's a remake but I love Sly. Watched Copland again the other night. It's a pity he can't get in on a movie of that quality again. What a cast...
And Sly more than held his own against Big Bob and Harv.
Can't WAIT for John Rambo, thought Rocky B was the best Rocky since... well, Rocky

IPFreely -> RE: (7/11/2007 10:51:18 AM)

Dear oh dear

*bows head and weeps a little for Hollywood*

Mason Verger -> RE: RE: (9/11/2007 4:43:58 PM)

Pete Docherty or Amy Winehouse would be better casting as someone with a death wish.

Anthropos -> RE: RE: (12/11/2007 9:37:05 AM)

Remaking a Michael Winner film...

Well, it's not like he could do a worse job surely?
