And there you have it. I have to say, as utterly tedious as the adding up was, it did qet quite exciting towards the end when I realised how close it was. Any woeful errors from me (incorrect numbering, the same show twice, that sort of thing) point them and I'll try and get those sorted as soon as possilbe.

The Mighty -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (4/11/2007 7:10:17 PM)

I love Firefly as much as the next guy, but 2nd best show ever? Hmmm. The thing only ran for 18 episodes. Even if each episode was gold, and I don't think that's true, I don't think it could match the countless brilliant episodes of The West Wing, or Buffy, or a lot of other stuff on that list.

Still, good job on the list!

Art Vandelay -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (5/11/2007 2:10:57 AM)

The Simpsons in the No. 1 spot. It couldn't be any other way. And glad to see Buffy retaining its No. 4 spot and Lost moving down some places.

swordsandsandals -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (6/11/2007 11:55:07 AM)

Do we have to vote for a number of shows, or can I just tell you straight off that Heroes has my number 1 vote. I can't think of anything else.

Peppermint -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (6/11/2007 3:59:09 PM)

Erm, the voting's all over and done with, actually.

broonie -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (6/11/2007 4:05:34 PM)

Any bets on Heroes being the No.1 show on the next Top 100 Fave TV shows poll?

Zaphod121 -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (6/11/2007 4:25:54 PM)

VM at 22! Sweet!

It actually only ran for 14 episodes. But they were 14 of the most entertaining episodes that have ever graced our TV screens.

Its not Fireflys fault that the muppet executives at fox couldnt see greatness if it came along and tickled there nuts! (maybe nut tickling could have gotten us a season 2...[sm=33.gif])             *sniffsniff*

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (7/11/2007 11:30:45 PM)

As if we needed anymore proof that these Top 100 polls are utterly pointless, even ones conducted and voted for by ourselves turn out with utter bollocks results.

Art Vandelay -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 3:27:56 AM)

Simpsons in the No.1 spot, with 24, West Wing & Sopranos all in the Top 10. I've seen worst lists.

There's your problem right there, how can a show that repeats the same plot season in season out be in the top 10 shows of all time?

Zaphod121 -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 9:31:22 AM)

Because people who aren't you enjoy it and voted for it.

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 9:51:04 AM)

I'd like you to meet someone Zaphod, he's called tongue in cheek.

I love it when people's only contribution to something is to complain how shit they think it is.

I love it when people's only contribution doesn't have anything to do with the topic in hand, instead it's just to have a go at someone.

I voted, so there's a contribution which isn't a complaint. I can have an opinion on greatest 100 polls generally being rubbish can't I? You know forums are all about debating and discussing their opinions whether they be positive or negative opinions.

Everyone always moans at greatest 100 polls because they  never work, they're too often or not filled with the most recent shows/songs/films etc coming top of the lists because they're most fresh in peoples minds.

Peppermint -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 2:27:07 PM)

Believe me, you'll know when I'm 'having a go' at you and my previous reply was nothing like it.  I was merely pointing out how futile it is to complain about the poll when loads of people have contributed to it (including yourself, as it turns out).

Captain Black -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 2:40:33 PM)

I was hoping this thread to pool all of those best 'insert criteria here' type threads that crop up every now and then disappear after a few days; just to give it some continuity. However if this in going to be treated with a consistent level of apathy/criticism and there are no objections I'll just unsticky it and it can live or die on its own.

It's interesting to gauge the tastes of the forum at large, but I generally loathe lists even at the best of times, and hoped we could do something with a bit more substance to it.

=JD= -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (8/11/2007 11:28:33 PM)

Within sounding too much like a nobber, are blurbs and pics for the list comming soon?

If Samurai Jack/The Mighty Boosh/Band of Brothers/Scrubs/Firefly need blurbs, I'l be happy to lend a hand

KennyM -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (18/11/2007 8:01:04 PM)

Band of Brother's doesn't deserve to be behind 24, Lost or Angel(!). In fact it would prob be no1 in my list. But I didn't vote. Cause I didn't notice we were having a poll. Silly me.

Spider -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (19/11/2007 11:15:52 AM)

Not a bad list but the order is way off. Are you telling me that Black Books is better than Fawlty Towers? Absolute madness. Spaced is also way too high, it's a great modern sitcom but it's not amongst the greatest ever made. The strangest decision is Scrubs at number three. I love Scrubs as much as the next guy but considering it only made 3 decent seasons it's very high.

The drama's are much better in general (probably because I'm not as familiar with this genre). I know Lost probably doesn't deserve to be as high as it is, but it's my favourite show so I'd be happy to see it higher. All the usual suspects (The West Wing, The Sopranos etc) in there where you'd expect them.

And the number 1...as if there was any doubt!

Base -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (1/12/2007 8:26:40 AM)

Surprising, I would have put money on Heroes and Lost being in the top 10...

Occono -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (5/12/2007 4:24:14 PM)

^Lost is......Heroes might have been too new to UK TV to make it.

Base -> RE: The Forum's Top 100 TV Shows (9/12/2007 11:37:00 AM)

So it is, d'oh...!
